Mr. W, H. Brown Im
proving,
~ On Monday last Judge R. T.
Williams received a telegram
from the Sufierintendent of the
asylum, at Milledgeville, saying
that Mr. W. H, Brown was im
proving—both mentally and
physicully—which was good news
to his many friends «nd relatives
in this section.
About three weeks ag) he was
tried before Judge Cook, and ad
judged a lunatic, and was order
ed sent to the asylum. A few
days after his arrival there
Judge Williams received a letter
from Milledge that was not very
encouraging, but now, since this
telegram was received, bringing
the good news that he wds im
proving his friends and relatives
have high hopesiof his speedy
recovery. :
A Feast of Bananas.
Last week the Cash Grocery
Co., of this place, received a car
load of overripe bananas, and was
forced to sell them out at any old
price. Look where you ‘may,
you could ladies, men. girls, boys,
negros, all eating bananas: For
two solid days and nights the
population of this town feasted
on bananas, and we feel confident
that every one had a ‘thorough
mess. ‘ :
~ During . the first day of the
feast we feel confident that our
three little orphans ate a bunch
apiece. But, that night—oh, my
how they did grunt and groan
in their sleep, and roll. Isn’t it
strange, the quanity of anything
a child can eat—especially if they
«re fond of it--and all young’urns
like bananas. ;
There was one thing about this
feast of bananas that no doubt
‘many have noticed, and that was,
there were very little food of any
kind eaten during those two days
except bananas. Our little fel
lows are blessed with full-grown
appetites, and are always anXious
to hear a mealannounced ‘‘ready,’
but during the banana feast the
table and what was on it, seemed
to have lost its . fasinacions for
them.
So, maybe the car load of over
ripe bananas was a blessing in
disguise to many of us who have
to buy.groceries.
