Judge Julian H, Parker.
Judge Julian H. RParker, Judge
of otir County Court, was born
and reared in Tatnall county, one
of the largestand best wiregrass
gounties in South Georgia.
In 1908?16 gravated from a law
school in Macon, after which he
was admitted to practice law in
the State and Federal courts in
that city. After practicing law
in the Central City fox one year,
he left the state, going. to Tampa
Fla. - He raceived a fine practice
while residing at Tampa.
But, somehow, with all of that,
he wasn’t satisfied. 'filere was
always a longing in his heart to
return to Georgia. So, after
one year’s stay in Tampa, he ye
turned to Tattnall, his home coun
ty, and began the practice of law
again.
In 1907 he left his native coun
ty again, this time coming to Ha
zlehurst. After arriving here,
and looking around, he decided
1o cast his lot with us, so he
hung out his shingle, and it
wasn’t very long afterwards un
til he was enjoying a very lucra:
tive practice. :
He had not been in our town
very long until he- was made
County Solicitor. After serving
in this capacity for awhile he was
appointed County Judge by Gov
‘srnor Smith, to fill the vacancy
caused by the resignation of
Judge J. C. Bennett. He has
filled these offices with dignity
and with honor to his adopted
county and himself. :
Judge Parker is a high-toned,
honorable young man, and is very
popular with all classes. ;
» He i kind-hearted and gener:
ous, and the longer you know
him the bettex you will like him.
He is the same pleasant gentle
man every day in the week.
Hs is public-spirited, and want
to see our town grow, and the
hundreds of acres ¢f uncultiva
ted land in our county tilled.
He talks up aur section to stran
gers, on all occasions, which de
monstrates that he has the in
terest of our town and county at
heart.
Judge Parker is a good, enter
prising citizen, and the writer
hopes that he may live to see
Hazlehurst boast of 40,000 popu
lation, and that every idle acre of
land in Jeff Davis county in cul
tivation by thrifty farmers frowmn
elsewhere. -
Our Solid Banks.
Hazlehurstand Jeff Davis coun
ty have reasons to feel proud of
our two banks, for no financial
concerns in this secticn of the
state can malke a better showing.
Statements as printed last
week in response to the call of
the State Bankz Examiner shows
both our banks to be in a sound
condition.
The ofiicers and di.cctors of
these banks are progressive and
conservative business men, who
know how 0 appreciate the pat
roenage of thé people.
Our special edition wil! make
its appearance about the first of
June. We expect to thoroughly
advertise this scction of country
in said edition and we have not
the least doubt but what these
papers will be instrumental in
bringing many new people to our
town and county. ‘lhis is our
main object in getting it out—to
increase our population with
good imdustrious thrifty people.
