¢ We learn that the members of
the Board of Educatiom, at their
last meesing, talked over the ad
visabilitylof having the proceed
ings of their meetings published
in The News, but decided it
would cost too much. Now gen.
tlemen, you are public servants,
2nd the people of Jeff Davis coun
ty wants to know what you do
at each meeting, what the money
is spent for, etc, and they have a
right to know these things, and
the only way they can know is te
have the proceedings published
sach month, We have been in
the newspaper business nearly
forty years, and never lived ina
county before where the proceed
ings of the school board wasn’t
published every month.
. We will make this suggestion
to our School Board, viz: We
will publish the proceedings
each month—no matter how
much space they might tako up—
at $5.00 per month, just about
one-third what they would cost
should we charge regular rates.
We are willing to do this to get
the privilege of publishing them
Jdor the benefit of our readers.
' We will call on the Board at
their next meeting. and make the
above proposition.
"! Its a great wonder to us that
Harry Thaw is not a raving
maniac, for he has certainly gene
through with enough since the
night he shot and killed Stafford
‘White about tnat ingrate, Judas
wife of (his to have run
a dozen strong-minded men crazy.
No, sir, Harry Thaw is a strong
minded man, and should be allow
ed his liberty.
