An ordinance entitled an ordinsnce
{o provid : for a mors effective san
itary carcof the closets and privies
in said city, to provide a method of
cleg ning the same and kecring them
in sanitary condition, and to pro
vide a revenue to meet the ex‘pcnse
ineident to the sanitation of the
samne, :
Seotionwl. Be it Jherchy enacted
by the Mavor ahd Alderman of the
City of Haziehurst, and it is herchy
enacted by the authority of the
same, that on and after the passage
of this ordinance, it shall be the
duty of the marshal to file with the
tax collector of said eity the names
of all parties from whose closets or
privies the garbage is being remov
ed by said city, and a tax of fifty
cents for the year 1909, and a tax
of one dollar for the year 1910, and
cuch sueceeding year shall be collee
ted from cach of said parties, pro
v ded that such parties own the
property upon which such closcts
are locaied, and if such persons are
tenants only, then such tax shall be
paid by’ the fandlord.
Section 2. Be it further enacted
that the tax set out in the forego
ing saction shall b 3 & lien oa the prop
erty of the persons owning the land
on which such closets is lacated, and
suid tax shall be by the tax collec
tor of said city coliected, #s other
taxes are collected, and upon the
failure of the perty owing the tax
to pay the same by Decemder 20th
of each yeur, it shall be the duty
of such tax collector to issue exe
cution for such amount. Nothing
in this seetion shall prevent such
collector from includ:ng such with
the other genera. tax of said city,

_ Section 3. Be it further . enacted
tLat all such taxes colleeted as
hereinbefore provided for shall be
by said ccliecter paid into the city
tressurer, as general funds, but
such tax is to be kept seperate and
apart from the cther generzl funds
of said city, and the same shall not
be used for any purposc except for
purpcses of sanitation.
Section 4. Be it further enacted
that th» narshal cf said eity is re
quired to have all the ciosets of
said city, which are located on al
leys, and those whieh can be ap
proched with the scavenager wagon
of said eity without inconvenience

Section 5. Be it further cnacted
that all closets so located as to ap
proached by said scaveneger wagon
with much difficulty shall be clean
a 1 d in a sanitary condition by the
owner thereof, and any owner or
user of any eloset or privy in said
citv, thus located, who shall «llow
or permit the same to become in
any unsanitary condition, or shall
allow the same to get in such con
dition that the stench arising there
from is annoying to any of the cit
izens or inhabitants of the town or
to any other person, than such
person shall be fined or confined at
labor on the streets of said city
by the mayor thercof .
Section 6. Be it further enacted
that all-ordinances and paris of or
dinances in confiict with ordinance
be, and the same are hereby re
pealed.

Section 1. Be it hereby ordained
by the mayor and alderman of the
City of Hazlehurst/and it is hereby
ordained by the authority of the
same, that on and after the passage
of this ordinance, that when any va
cancy shall oceur among the mem
bership of the zldermen of the City
of Hazlehurst, by death resignation
removal or other cause it shall be
the duty of the mavor to call an
election for the purpose of electing
an alderman or aldermen to fill the
vacancy or vacaneies thus occuring,
such election to be held not later
than thirty days after such vacancy
occurs, and the notice of said elec
tion shall be given by the mayor by
posting a written or printed ezl
for such election in two or more
public places in said city for a peri
od of twenty days next preceeding
said election.
Section 2. Be it furthcr enaoted
that when a vacancy shail occur in
said city in the office of mayor, by

meecting of said aldermen, or at any
ealled meeting of such board, duly
cenvened by order of the mayor

Section 3. Be it further enacted
that the ordinances now in foree in
said city governing the registration
of voters for the regular annual
clection of the mayor sand aldermen
of said city shall be complied with
in the holding of such elections for
mayor or aldermen. |

The following ordinance, after its
adoption had been regularly moved
and second, and after it had been
duly and reguarly offered and read,
was unanimously passed by the May
orand Aldermen, to-wit:
Anordinanceentitled an ordinaner
to amend sections 67, 68, 69 70 and
74 of the Code of iaws of the ecity
of Hazlehurst, as approved and a
dopted Meay 19, 1907, so as to pro
vide & more speedy manner of rez
istering the voters of said city, and
for other purposes.
Be it ordsined by the mayor and
aldermen of the city of Hazlehurst,
and it is hereby ordsined by the
suthority of the same, that on and
after the passage of tbis ordinance
that -seetion 67568 69:70 &and 74 of
the Revised Code of laws of .said
city, as approved and revised May
10, 1907, be and the same are here
by amended as follows, to-wit:
Saction 1. Be it ordaired that
from and after the passage of this
ordinance thatseation 67 of the code
of laws of the city of Huazlehurst, as
revised #nd adopted May 10, 1907,
relative to the opening of the reg
istration books es said city, be an:!
the same is hereby amended by
striking out the word “eighteen” in
the second I'ne of said section 67

word “five” so that szid section
when thus amended shall read sas

Ssction 2. Be it further ordained
that on and after the passage of
this ordinance that section 6S of
said code of laws be amended by
striking out from the fourth line of
said section 68 the word “ten’” and
inseriing in lieu thereof the word
“five”’ so that said se~tion when
thus .mended shall vead as. follows:
It shall be the duty of the clerk
of council, before opening the reg
istration book. to pubiish & notice
thereof by advertising in one of the
county pzpers or by posting in two
o’ more publie places in -the -town,.

ing of said registration book. -
Section 3. Be it further ordained
that section 69 of said.code.of: laws,
be and the same is hereby amended
by striking out of the first line of
said section 69 the word “ten” “and
inserting in lieu thereof the worc
“five” so that said section 69 when
thus amended shall raad as fellows;

kept open five days from 9 o’clockg
a. m. until 12-o’clock, m., and froin

Section 4. Be it further erdained
that.section 70 of safd code of laws
be and the same is hereby amended
by striking out of line number five
of said section the word “five’’ and
inserting in lieu thereof the word
“two’’ so that said section 70 when
thus amended shall read as follows:
