■ The Ship Huguenot, Gardner, from Liverpool,
in the offing last evening. We are inform-
E that this is the ship seen ashore on Cape Ro-

Hlice at this port. The Huguenot succeeded in
Htting off the shoal on Thursday afternoon
Hithout assistance. She has on board a large

COTTON.—There has been a good demand at
former prices.
SAVANNAH, Sept. 27.— Cotton. —Tho sales re
ported yesterday amount to 49 bales, as follows :
10 bales at 8|; 5 at 8J; 18 at 9J; Bat 9}, and 8 at
9} cents.
CHATTANOOGA, Sept. 2b.~Remark*.—Tkes
river is now lowor than at any previous tirno during
the season. Boats running below, do not venture
abovo the Suck, and make their port at Kelly's
Ferry, ten miles below. Passengers aro conveyed
between the points at any hour, and freight is ship
ped off as it arrives, on lighters, under the chargo
of the officors of tbo steamers. We notice that a
large amount of goods are arriving daily. The
light-draft steamer Mary McKinney is running be
tween this point and Knoxville.
The Provision market is inactive. We are in the
season yet between tho old and tho now crops. In
a few weeks, the fall and winter trade will com
mence. We find
Bacon scarce, and commanding from 12 to 13
conts.
Lard. —Little, if any, in market, and selling at
14 cents.
Corn. —Old, scarco and declining in prico; now,
from 40 to 45 and 50c. Wo are of the opinion that
it will command 50 cents, readily, in two weeks.
Meal. —Very scarce and high.
Beef. —From 4 to 5 cents a pound.
Flour. —Etowah Mills, $6 a barrel; supply suffi
cient—none other in market.
Oats. —Shelled are in demand at 30 and 33 j ots.
per bushel.

The basement is perfectly dry and tree from
dampness, tho floor being first |paved with brick,
that covered with dry sand, and then a thick coating
of pitch and tar, over which are laid 4 inch scant
ling, and over all narrow 1 j inch flooring, secret
nailed.
Tho partition walls in tho basement are all of brick.
The floor in the main story is “ deadened” (to pre
vent the passage of sound from below) in all the
rooms and the passage. Every sash in the house
is hung with best patent cord and round iron weights;
there are roller Venetian Blinds to every window.
The rooms are large and airy. The dimensions
and other particulars will be furnished to any person
desirous of purchasing, to whom the premises will
be open for inspection on and after the Ist Septem
ber, from 11 to 1, and from 4 to 6 o’clock.
$5,000 of the purchase money may remain on
bond and mortgage for several years.

Reynold street, just below Washington street, each
having a front of about forty-one and a half (411)

(39 j) feet, with the right of way through said alley,
in common with the three lots next mentioned, and
