“ It is seldom wo permit ourselves to •ccupy a space
in those columns to npoak iu praise of any article in tho
patent medicine way ,* but when wo soo the lifo of a fol
low-creature saved by tin? use of any medicine what
ever. we consider it as our right, if notourduty, to give
a simple statement of facts, that others may, in like
manner, be benelitted. The ease which has induced us
to pen this article, was that of u young lady of our ac
quaintance. who, by frequent exposure to the night air,
contracted a fold which settled on the Lungs before its
ravages could be stayed. (This occurred two years ago
this winter. 1 ) Yarioi remedies were used, but with
very little effect or benefit. The Cough grew worse,
with copious expectoration, and the .sunken eye, and
pale, hollow clies-k. told plainly that pulmonary disease
was d »ing its w« ist o it her delicate frame. Tho family
physician was cc 'suited, aid although he would not ad

tion. yet he would no eucourugement as to a cure.
At this cri is her i nuber was persuaded to make use of
a bottle of Mr. Kogi rV Compound Syrup of Liverwort

ly cured in less than thr» e mouths by this medicine
alone, after eveu bone was destroyed. It is useless to
comment on such a < :se ..s this, for the simple truth
will reach where polished fiction never can. If any

IN QUART BOTTLES.
FOR purifying the Blood, and for the cure of Scrofu
la, Mercurial Diseases. Rheumatism. Cutaneous
Eruptions. Stubborn Ulcers. Liver Complaint. Dyspepsia
Bronchitis. Salt Rheum. Consumption. Fever Sor«ss. Fe
male Complaints, Erysipelas, Loss of Appetite, Pimple*
Biles. General Debility. Ac.
In this preparation we have all the restorative pro
perties of the root combined and concentrated in their
utmost strength and efficacy. Experiments were made
in the manufacture of this medicine until it was found
it could not be improved. Accordingly, we find it re
sorted to almost universally in cases of Scrofula. Liver
Diseases. Salt Rheum. General Prostration of the Vital
Powers, and all those tormenting diseases of the skin so
trying to the patience, and injurious to the health. It
is a tonic, aperient and disinfectant. It acts simulta
neously upon tho stomach, the circulation , and the
bou'ets. and thus three processes, which are ordinarily
the result of three different kinds of medicine, are car
ried on at the same time through the instrumentality
of this one remedial agent. There are many ways of re
lieving pain for the time l»eing. but there is only one
wayofremovingdisease. So palliative, no anodyne,
no tropical application will remove it. It must Wat
tacked at Hr source, in the fluids of .the body, which
convey the poison to tho localities whore it i> develop
ed in inflammation, sores, ulcers, tumors, absces.se*.
glandular swellings, Ac., as the case may be.
These fluids must be reached, acted upon, purified by
some powerful agent. Such an agent is Sand's Sarsa
parilla. w hich gently (stimulates while it disinfects ami
expel- from the stomach and bowels all that is irritating,
and at the rune time restores their vigor and tone. Its
great merit is that it meets and neutralizes the active
principle of disease itself, and when that is gone, the
symptoms necessarily disappear. The rapidity with
which the patient recovers health and strength under
this triple influence is surprising. Each new case in
which it is applied furnishes in the result a new certifi
cate of its excellence ; and we have only to point to the
accumulated testimony of multitudes who have exj»e
rienced its effects, to convince incredulity itself of its
real value.
Lieut. Miller, of the Army, has kindly sent us the fol
low ing letter from California:
Montbrkt, Jan. is, 1850.
Mkssiis. A. B. A D. Sands : —Gentlemen—l beg leave
to add my testimony in favor of your invaluable medi
cine. hoping it may lead some unfortunate beings to try
its effects, and that they may be benefltted as 1 have
been.
1 arrived here from tho United States by the overland
route about the first of October last. A few days after.
I I was attacked with a very disagreeable eruption of the
| skin, which my physician could not cure. I happened

Dr. J. 0. Ayer—Sir: I have been afflicted with a pain

J. C. Ayer—Sir: I was taken with a terrible cough,
brought on by a cold, in the beginning of last February,
and was confined to my bed more than tw o months.—
Coughing incessantly night and day. i became ghastly

breath very short. Indeed, I was rapidly failing, and in
such distress for breath, that but little hojie of my re

H. G. FARREL’S
C1 EM INK Arabian Liniment is a most extraordinary
J medicine, the truth of which is placed beyond
doubt by the vast sales of the article, aud the many
cures being daily performed by it. which previously had
resisted all other medicines and the skill of the bed
physicians in the world. It is composed to balsams, ex
tracts and gums jwculiar to Arabia—possessing, iu con
centrated form, all their stimulating. Anodyne, pene
trating. untcutous and revulsive properties, and the
same w hich v ages ago, w ere used by the "Sons of the
Desert, with such miraculous success, iu curing the
diseases of both man and beast.
Read the following remarkable cures, whirh should of
themselves j, dare H. (i. FERRELS ARABIAS
LISIMEST far beyond any similar remedy.
About a year aud a half ago. a swelling appeared in
inv wife's stomach.gradually increasing in size until it
became as large as my fist, and so sore that she could
not bear the least pressure upon it w ithout giving her
extreme pain. 1 got the advice of our best doctors,
and they differed in opinion about it; some said it was
an Ague Cake or Enlargement of the Spleen; some,
that it was an Enlargement of the Ovaries; and others
said it was a Tumor of the Ovaries, and could not be
cured except by cutting it out. In this critical situa
tion. i wa* permtaded to try H.G. Farrell'* Arabian
Liniment upon it. and strange as it may appear, upon
the third application she began to improve, and has
continued getting better daily, until now she is as well
as ever—enjoying excellent health.

One w oman has used your Liniment with great suc
cess. She had l«>»t the u>e of her legs for three years,
the cords being contracted so that her legs were bent
as much white standing a$ is natural for tiie position
of the legs while fitting, and she could not bend them
in the least; but by the use of 11. G. Farrell’s Arahiam
Liniment she is now able to walk with ease, and lias a
straight limb. I have found it a most excellent remedy
for horse flesh, also, for every thing which requires aii
external remedy.
The opinion of an Old. Experienced and Scientific
Farrier.
Washington. lowa. June *26. IS Id.
From the speedy and permanent cures, both on man
and beast, which your Arabian Linimeut is performing.
Ido not hesitate to pronounce it the "Great Remedy ol
the Age." 1 have practiced doctoring horses for these
twenty years, and have tried all the various liniments,
ointments, Ac., so much puffed up in papers; but I
must say that 11. G. Farrell’s Arabian Liniment exceeds
any that 1 ever made use of. By its use, I have cured
Sweeny and Spavin long after they have been pronounced
incurable, and have cured more than fifty horses this
season w ith your Liniment, embracing every shade* of
disease, from scratches and bruses, up to Spavin, Ring-
Bone and Sweeny. I can also bear testimony of its
good effects on the human system. 1 was confined
nearly all last winter to inv room with Rheumatism,
and could get nothing to help me, until I com
menced the use of your Liniment, which entirelv cured
me. WM. R. GRIMES.

Mr. 11. G. Farrell.—Dear Sir: I had been afflicted
with the 4 *Sun Pain” for the last ten years, and could
never get relief except by bleeding; but by the u*e of
H. G. Farrell's Arabian Linliueut. applied over the tem
ples about three or four times a day. it was entirely re
moved. and 1 have felt nothing of it since. I went into
the stable one night, to apply it to a horses's sore leg.
and being very lame he stumbled and fell against my
legs, crushing aud bruziug them so badly that they
turned black as my hat, rendering them powerless. I
applied your Liniment, an! was well enough in a few
days to go about again as usual. 1 also crushed my
linger iu a shocking manner, by letting a back-log fail
upon it; your Liniment soon healed it up. though.
