A Macon Policeman Shot.—The Macon

o’clock, Henry W. Shaw, an ex-policeman,

room of Mr, ShrrKtz, on the corner of Third
and Poplar streets. Shaw, we are in
formed, was Intoxicated at the time, and
goc to abusing Cooper in a violent manner,
and a fight ensued, during which Shaw
drew his pistol while' down on the floor

“ Moral New England.”— The yacht
Henrietta, famous for the short trip across
the Atl >ntic in'mid winter, a year or two
ago, under the command of James Gordon
Bennett, Jr., is now owned by a Boston
firm, and is at the moimirit filled with New
England rum, bound for the African coast,
to poison the brains of the poor African
nigger. Oh, New England ! what a paint
ed sepulchre thou art! Hum and Bibles,
godiy books and gimblets! Tracts on
“ the sin of slavery” for the missionaries to
translate Into the mumbo-jumbo lingo, and
shackles, gunpowder and rotgut whisky all
in the African invoice!

Weather and Crops.— The seasons this
year have been propitious, and the report
from Calhoun, Webster and Terrell coun
ties is that there never was better stands of
cottou ; owing to the cold and backward
Spring, the lands were put in good order
before planting, which is half the battle in
the cultivation of a crop. Chopping cotton
is the order of the day. Some, we hear,
have gone over the first time. Corn is look
ing remarkably well, considering it is only
of secondary importance among many
planters.—Da Journal.
Condition of Mr. Broughton. —At a
late hour last night, Mr. Johu Broughton,
who was shot on Saturday afternoon, by
Henry G. Ross, was still living, but his
condition is very precarious. There is still
some ground to nope for his recovery, but
being a man of delicate health and physical
strength, the chances are greatly against
him. He had quite a high fever last night
and was spitting blood.

1 BAD BLOOD.”
“ The Life is the Blood.”
IT ROM it we derive our strength, beauty
and mental capabilities. It is the centre ot our
being, around which revolves all that makes
existence happy.’ When thissource is corrupt
ed the painful effects are visible in many
shapes, prominent among which is
SCROFULA.
This is a taint or infection of the human or
ganism, and probably no.one is wholly free
from it. It exhibits itself in various shapes—
as Ulcers aud Bores, Decayed Bones, Diseased
Scalp, Sore Eyes, Weak aud Diseased Joints,
St. Vitu-i’ Dance, Foul Discharges from the
Nostrils, ErupiioD6, Glandular Swellings,
Throat Affections, Rheumatism, Heart Affec
tions, Nervous Disorders, Barrenness, Disor
ders of tbe Womb, Dropsy, Byphilitic Affec
tions, Liver Complaint, Salt Rheum, Dyspep
sia, Neuralgia, Loss of Manhood and General
Debility.
It has been the custom to treat these dis
eases with Mercury and other Mineral sub
stances, wbicb, though sometimes producing a
cure, often prove injurious and entails misery
in alter life. The long known injurious prop
erties of these so-called alteratives aud puri
fiers has led the philanthropieal man of science
to.explore the arena ol nature, the result of
which ha 6 been the discovery ot vegetable pro
ducts which possess the power of eradicating
these taints from the blood.
DR. TUTT’B

SiMIIM iIEIMGHT
Is the acknowledged antidote to all Blood Dis
eases. By its use the afflictions above enumer

be maintained in all its purity and vigor.
For Diseases produced by the u-e of
Mercury, and for Syphilis, with its
train of evils, this compound is the only
sure antidote.
To the poor creature, enfeebled in mind and
body, by secret practices, whose, nerves are un
strung and countenance downcast,
THE SARSAPARILLA

is a blessing. Try it fairly, and your nerves
will be restored to their wonted vigor, and
your dejected countenance be made radiant
with the consciousness of
RESTORED MANHOOD,
Being free from violent minerals, it is adapt
ed to general use. The old and young may
use it; the most delicate female at any time
may take it; the tender infant, who may have
inherited disease, will be cured by it.
FOR PURIFYING THE BLOOD,
USE '
Dr. Tutt’s

AND
QUEEN’S DELIGHT.
When used in the Spring, it removes all hu
mors which iniest the system, and banishes the
languor and debility peculiar to that season of
the year.
It acts promptly on the LIVER and KID

having ulcers in several parts of the body.—
Whilst in-ibis condition she commenced taking
your Koskoo— it acted like a charm on her ; un
der its use the ulcers gradually healed , and her
general health greatly improved. It certainly
saved her much suffering, and perhaps her life.
I regard Koskoo a specific for all scrofulous
affections. Your Koskoo also cared my wife
of dyspepsia, from which she suffered greatly.
She is now in better health than she has been in
five years.
With the highest regards,
I am gratefully yours, &c.,
A. W. MILLS.
Koskoo is endorsed by the beet physicians
everywhere. Read the following from Dr.
Tillery, a successful practitioner of many years
standing In the Old North Btate:
Rocky Mount, Edgeeonab Cos., )
September 10, 1869. $
Dr. J. J. Lawrence—Deir Sir: I have used
your Concentrated Fluid Extract of Koskoo in
my practice with the happiest results. I find it
to be a powerful Liver Invigorator, Blood Pu
rifier, and Nervous Tonic. In all diseases of
the Liver, Scrolulous, Syphilitic and Nervous
Affections, it is a remedy of immense value ;
in fact, in almost every variety of Chronic
Diseases its use is indicated. Hoping yon
may meet with the success which you deserve
as a manufacturer of reliable medicines, I am,
sir, with much respect,
Your obedient servant,
R. C. TILLERYyM. D.
Koskoo Cures Chronic Rheumatism.
Norfolx, Va., September 7, 1860.
Dr. J. J. Lawrence— Dear Sir: My son has
received so much benefit from your wonderful
Koskoo that I cannot retrain from expressing
my gratitude. I had tried almost everything
without benefit. I believe, in all sincerity, that
your Koskoo is an infallible remedy for the
disease from which he has suffered, and, so far
as I can learn, has never failed. If you only
knew the immense amount of suffering that he
has undergone, then you could conceive the
value of such a remedy as Koskoo— that surely
cures. The great amount* of good it is now
doing among us is inestimable.
With much gratitude,
I am, respectfully, yours, &c.,
Mrs. M. E. A. NELSON.
FROM DR. LLOYD, A PHYSICIAN OF LARGE
PRACTICE.
Great Bridge, Va., October 8,1869.
J. J. Lawrence, M. D. —Dear Sir: I cheer
fully endorse your Koskoo as being a most
valuable preparation. Upon examination of
the formula, I find each ingredient highly ex
tolled by our best and most progressive clini
cal investigators. I have tested its effects in
my own prnciice, and have no hesitation in
recommending It. In my opinion, it is the best
compound of its class ever put before the pub
lic-exceeding by far all the various compounds
of Sarsaparilla, Ac., ever invented. It is a de
cided Nerve ToLic, and Invigorator of the ani
mal forces, aiding digestion and assimilation,
and thereby producing healthy blood, which
should be the basis of treatment in all chronic
diseases. Hoping you will reap the reward
yon deserve from the public as a benefactor,
I am, sir, yours truly,
CHARLES LLOYD.
Alter reading the above high recommenda
tion, Invalids cannot reasonably hesitate to
give the KOSKOO a trial.
