Judge of the South Webtern Circuit. Election

The Constitutional Amendment —
The rejection of the proposed Constitu
tional Amendment, by the Legislature of
this State, was a most singular unanimi
ty. In the Senate there was not a single
vote for it, and of one hundred and
thirty-three members of the House of
Representatives there were only two
for it. Ellington of Gilmore and
Humphrey, Fannin counties.
In to-day’s paper will be found the
report of the Committee, to which'we
invite the careful perusal of the reader.
Fine Cigars. —We are indebted to
Messrs. Furlow <fc Bro. for a box of
fine cigars, the best in this market. Our
friends wishing to treat their guests
during the approaching conference with
fine cigars, will do well to call and pur
chase a box or two from Messrs F urlow
& Bro. before it is too late.
Day of Fasting-, Humiliation and
Prayer.—The General Assembly of
Georgia having passed a resolution rec
ommending that a day be set apart for
fasting, humiliation and prayer, Ilis Ex
cellency, Charles J. Jenkins, has is
sued a proclamation designating Thurs
day, November 22, iB6O, as a suitable
day, and calls upon the whole people of
Ike State to solemnly observe' it as such.

Ladies’ Cloaks, for most any price at
Nov. 17-lt. Waxelbaum & Bro.
Americus has been visited during
the week by quite a number of gentle
men, representing some of the largest
New York houses, they of course, visi
ted the store of P. 11. Oliver & Bro. ;
and were amazed to see Ladies’ Hats
worth five dollars in Mew Y r ork, selling
for two dollars and fifty cents, ready
made shirts, coats, pants and vests,
worth from sls to *2O, in New York,
selling for from seven to ten dollars.—
Shoes, Hoseiry, Dress Good, Cloaks and
every other article, are sold at the same
astonishingly low rates.
Nov. 17-11.
M eSsrs Furlow &Bro. —One of the
largest, most complete and desirable
stock of goods offered to the retail trade
in this city, is to be found in the popu
lar and well known store of, Messrs
Furlow & Bro. The plcasurs oftra
ding at a house well stocked with desi
/rable goods, alike suited to the season
and the capacity of the purchaser, is
greatly enhanced by the urbanity of
experienced and gentlemanly salesmen.
This is peculiarly so at Fur. now & Bro
'These gentlemen have one of the finest
.-assortment of Ladies Dress Goods and
‘Gentlemens Furnishing Goods ever
bs ought -to this market. This house
deals strirtty on the square with all men,
and never takes the advantage of any.
Their stock of ready made clothing can
not be surpasssd either in quality or
price, by any establishment in the place.
For the Planter, they have every tiling
that is Hooded. Our planting friends
would do well to call on this house for
their supplies; they will find the gentle
men connected with this establishment
fair and honest dealers,exacting nothing
but what is right, and taking nothing
but what is due.
Cri?'"Waxelbaum & Bro., h ave just
received the cheapest lot of Clothing
that was ever brought to this market,
which will he sold at such low prices
that it will astonish every body.

Large Reward.
The Louisville and Nashville Railroad
Company offer a reward of SIO,OOO for
the arrest and conviction of the parties
who robbed tbe passenger and mail
'train on the Btli inst., near Franklin,
Kentucky. Active measures are on
ifoot -to apprehend the perpetrators of
ithis daring outrage and the large re
ward offered by the railroad company
offer strong inducements to increased
exertions and vigilance and we trust
that the villains may be quickly caught
and made an example of that will pre
vent a recurrence of such outrages, It
is a disgrace to our State that bands of
armed desperadoes should be allowed
to go at large, waylaying trains, endan
gering the life and jasabs of peaceable
citizens, and robbing and plundering
them without mercy. This is a matter
that interests every citizen of our State,
but more especially -those living along
the line of the railroad, and we hope
that nq means will bo left untried to
bring to justice these enemies to the
welfare and safety of the public,-—Ans'/t
