It was known that Dan Casteli.o’s Circus would he in town, and everybody and his wife cante to see the show.. TUe streets were throng? ed with people of,ail colors and sexes. As they passed, the excitement was intense among all classes. The Grand I’mtree, was certain the inoSt imposing one, we have yet had in this section of the country, A Sad Affair-. — We leant (that a difficulty occurred at Starkvillle, be tween two-citizens of that plaOev <au Wednesdayllnst, which resulted in tils death of one of the parties. The names of the parties are Wm, Bridges, and L. B. Wheel,eu, -the former receiving a stab in the breast, tfcem -fibo. hands of the latter, from wMeh he died in a few moments. The new Board of Aldermen were inaugurated into office, Wednesday night last, the oath of office being ad ministered to .them by P. J, SfEAD, iJ. I. C. After a .very Appropriate ad dress from liiss Honor, Mayor T. M. Pnu.ow, tho Board proceeded .to .the election oftflhaifman ot tile Council, which resulted in the unanimous diictiae of A. R. Brown, Esq. Election for city officers were then went into, and on counting out, the ballots, .the (fol lowing were declared elected: Chief Marshal —S. 11. 'Mitchell. Deputy Marshal —R. A.'TitNi u. City Sexton— W. P. Haves. The Mayor then appointed the fol lowing persons a»s (Policemen, who are amenable to the Chief Marshal: T. P. Logan, G. Heath, J. W. Mizu, It. Barefield and A. J. Lee. A Resol utioq was passed, instructing in the Clerk to issue executions against all persons who have not paid their taxes for the present year, and to place them immediately in the hands of the Marshal for collection. Having dispatched its business for the evening, the Board, together with our humble self, accepted an invitation from the Marshals and Clerk elect, to 1 partake of an oyster supper, at the Res taurant of Messrs. Finn & Cos. The oysters were well prepared, and after disposing of them, we all retired, in good order, tq our respective homes to lay our bodies down in sweet repose, and enter the land of dreams.
