Dropsical Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and
diseases originating from a depraved or Impure
stale of the Blood or other fluids of the bods'.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public that he has not offered
Tlife preparation to their notice w ithout due reflet— j
•lion, and close and rigid study, nor until after i
twelve years’experience had manifested its great
superiority over every other article of the Kim .
and lie now recommends it with confidence , on >
believin'- that the above combination of medicine
will effectually eradicate from the system a cm#s
of disease some ~f which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable. !
He ha« prescribed it in almost every variety of j
disease and w ith unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and i
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuxi- i
ty t»f the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors.
He has used this preparation in upwards oftwen- J
tv vve’l defined cases of cancer and cancerous txi- ,
mors, and in every case but one with perfect and
entire success.
ISronchocelc or Goitre, (Swelled Xcck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred caxa s of
goitre, and it has never failed in a single, instance
to completely remove the disease. .Not a solitary
case of failure. All were cured.
The success he lias met with in curing hroycho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as Fever and j
Ague. He does not wish to he understood as say
ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and j
Ague, but with as ranch certainly; and further, that ;
he has good reason for believing that this prepara- I
lion will not only < ure these, diseases when formed,
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from whit h that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as that ofscrofulaemanate.
Scrofula—King’s Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous rases
of Scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swellings, i
and always with the most deci led success.
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it in a great variety ofrnlane
-0«s affections, and found it successful incurinpsalt
rheum, or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew |
and jaundiced skin, See.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous eases ofliver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Tic-Doul©ureuz.
It. has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every Cdtik it was successful.
Rheumatism* •
This preparation lias been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheum-awn, and in every |
Case in which it was used aintil the system became !
alluded by the medicine, the disease was removed 4 j
Gout.
A number of cases of gout have, been cared by |
this preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen j
years as to entirely disable him from business, and ;
for live months immediately previous to his taking j
the Alterative lie had been confined to his room; j
but before he had finished the third bottle, lie was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re- |
turned to his business, from which he had so long
been excluded by his afflictions.
Dropsical Swellings,
This medicine increases the powers of digestion,
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by ;
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all
unnatural enlargements are reduce 1. It imparts
trine ami vitality to the whole system, removing •
aick and morbid headaches,giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections. j
In fact, in every case where she medicine has i
been taken fursouie time, no matter for wint pur- j
pose, the general health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
of the. most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured f>y
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this time.
CANCER.
An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative . j
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined by many I
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous, j
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All prpbable means of removing it were used j
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope |
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was j
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent j
Physicians’ was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr. j
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medic*! gentlemen. The j
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by I
all present a cancer of the most tnali grant charac- 1
ter. In about tlireeraonths, afterenduric.g incredi- I
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. Blie remained feeble, j
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in- 1
deed it h;*l been for several years before. In tl.c j
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her bt east ,
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap- !
pea ranee on the right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as to deprived her of test. 1 tie gland* un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scin hus, and
a bard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left br.-ast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
ed to be a mass of disease. Her case uas consid
ered hopeless. Bhe uasof a very scrofulous haoit,
both her parents having died of Pulmonary con
sumption. The experiment was now mane with
this Alterative, it was at first given in small j
doses, three times a day, ami the doses very gradu- ,
ally, but steadily increased daily, as long as she
look it, which was about six months, and the. skin
over and around the tumour was wet night and ,
jnnrnin" with a strong solution of lodine ami Hy
drio late Potash. The tumour continued increas
ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times ;
very painful, when the pain suddenly ceased a.to- ;
pettier, and flie tumour swelled out at the base.anu j
became soft, and then began to diminish, and con
tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of j
disease was removed. The tumour in her left
breast, and those- m her right axilla were also dis- I
persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever
appeared afterwards; ami her general health, which
had been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a
burthen, was eflecually and permanently restored, j
The proprietor is-in possession of the diseased
b- e >st and those who choose may examine it. He
wouid also say that he could mention over a dozen
r ..xes equally interesting, wherein his Alterative ;
has subdued cancer and cancerous tumours, but uc |
has not room here to record them. _ j
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J-,
had a goitrous tumour on the left side ot her wind- {
pipe, a- large as the half of an orange, which was
cured by using this Alterative for about tour
fnonihs.
Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement ot the '
throat, which filled the entire space between the |
chin and breast-bone, and extended-around on |
each side of her neck to behind her ears, and trem
her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de
formity. It commenced growing when ske was
but five years old. and continued gradually to in
crease until she was nineteen, at which time she j
commenced using this Alterative, which she took
for seven months, whic h entirely reduced the en
largenient; and she has now as smooth and pretty ,
a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at
i.berty lojjive her name i;i print, but will reter per
sons to her.

COLLETON HITTERS.
FOR DYSPEPTICS.
napiIESE BITTERS are purely a vegetable
compound, and are offered to the pub
lic from a principle of benevolence, under the luil
est conviction that they will be found a safe and
I sovereign remedy for Dyspepsia. They have been
; triumphantly tested not only by some of the most
, respectable families in the Btate, who have furnish
i ed ample testimony as to their decided excellence,
1 but also by the proprietor, who, lor ten years, sul
fered all the gloom incident to that distressing (Un
ease. They possess the peculiar excellence denied
i to most other Bitters, of not prov ing injurious by
continued use. They contain nut a single delete
rious ingredient, and, as seen from the directions
! which accompany each bottle, may be given with
entire safety to an infant in the month.
If the Colleton is taken regularly and persever
ing! y, i which is highly important in stubborn cases.)
they will, soon alter the use of a few bottles, be
found to act on the system like a charm—imparting
vigor to the rtomach, bracing the nerves, cleans
j mg the liver, promoting digestion, increasing the
i appetite, strengthening the chest and voice, relicv
■ ingpains, cramps, ami stitches in the breast. They
are also most excel lent for cholera morbus, habitual
constipation, sea-sick ness, nausea, proceeding from
whatever cause. In cases -of general debility, it
has proved one of the best remedies, and is there
fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary
gentlemen, students, and others of sedentary habits.
j Taken in small doses frequently through the day,
j they have checked tiie most violent diarrhoea, and
likewise b~en administered with the happiest effect
n cholera infantum.
In all the foregoing complaints, these Bitters will
■ be found effectual if persisted in, and taken accord
! ing to the directions which accompany each bottle.
; And although it has been testified hy several that
I they are excellent in many others, yet in none other
i than those above enumerated, is the proprietor will
ing to vouch for their efficacy. They were prima
rily and solely intruded to cure Dyspepsia.
The Colleton Bitters have been eight years be
fore the public; and in consequence of the increas
ing demand for this valuable meuicine, the proprie
tor has entered largely into the business—bottles
are procured having "“Colleton Billers” moulded in
theiii— they are also numbered, sealed and stamp
ed with an appropriate motto Brice 8 1 per bottle.

Os the Colleton Bitters —"(purely a Vegetable

; in the character and integrity of the maker and pro
i prietor thereof, I verily believe to be true.) 1 en
tertain the most favorable opinion. Several of my
; personal friends and acquaintances, long afflicted
with Dyspepsia, have assured me that they hove
found these Bitters better than any other medicine
! they ever tried, for that distressing disease. And I
| take the pleasure further to state that I have wit
; nessed the excellency of these Bitters, in nausia,
j sick-headache, and bowel complaint; in this last
particular, I have seen the Colleton repeatedly and
i successfully tested among the children of my own
I house-hold. No family ought to he without this in
valuable medicine.

GALVANIC RINGS

MAGNETIC FLUID.
f remarkable invention, which ha.-, received the
2L almost universal approbation us the medical pro
fession of Great Britain, complices an entirely new ap
plication of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of
; which the ordinary Galvanic Ba teries, Electric and .Mag
netic Machines, &c., are eioirely dispensed with, and the
mysterious .powers of Galvanism applied without any
of the objections which are inseperable from the gene
ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu
lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied hy the Ma
chines, lias been pronounced, af.cr a lair and impartial
trial, to bo decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy
this radical defect, that this new application was pro
jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has
been brought to its present state of perfection. The
Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most
expensive Machines, and in many other respects are
more safe and certain iu accomplishing the desired .
