diseases originating from a depraved or fmjmre
elate of the Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative, would most re
spectfully assure, the public that he has not offered
this preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after
twelve years" experience had manifested its groat
superiority over every oilier article of the kind,—-
j§bd Ue now recommends it with confidence. lu.,y
believing that the above combination of medicine
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of disease some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
lie has nrescribed it in almost" every variety of
disease and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri
ty of the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors.
He has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and in every case but one with perfect and
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
lie ha« prescribed it in over a hundred eases of j
goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance |
j (J completely remove the disease. iNot a soatary ;
case of failure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing bromkn- j
cele and cancerous affections has convinced mm I
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed v\ith as ranch certainty as lever and
A~ue. He does not wish to be understood as say
ing that they can he cured as soon as Fever and
A me hut with as much certainty; and further, that
1m has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only Hire these diseases when formed,
hut that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar i
class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate, j
Scrofula— King’s Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous cases I
of Scrofula, King's Evil, and scrofulous swellings,
and always with the most deci led success.
Skin Diseases.
He ha? prescribed it in a great variety of cutane
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt
rheum, or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, raorphew
and jaundiced skin, &c.-
Dyspepsia ami Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect. :
Tic-Doulonreuz.
It has been used in several titles of Neuralgia, i
and in every case it was successful.
Uheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many eases of chronic rheuinaism, and in every
case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed*
Gout.
A number of eases of gout have K?en cured by
this preparation. In one of these cases,.the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen |
years as to entirely disable him from business, and
for five months immediately previous to bis taking j
the Alterative he had been confined to his room; :
but before he had finished the third bottle, be was j
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, front which he had so long
been excluded by his afflictions.
Dropsies 1 Swellings*
Thismedicine increases the powers of digestion,
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all
unnatural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wardering j
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken for some lime, no matter fur what pur
pose, the general health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor w ould say that some
of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, branchocele, and scrofula, have been cured l>y
thismedicine, that have ever been recorded; but
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at tiiis time.
CANCER.
An interesting case cured hy Jayne's Alterative.
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear '
■ed in the rfeht breast of Airs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
St retch, of Salem, N. J. It was examined l»y many
Physicians, am! was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means of removing it w ere used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr,
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the j
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. 'I lie ,
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced hy j
all present a cancer of the most malignant c-harac
ler. In about three months, aftereiiduring ineredi- :
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to gel about again. Sbe remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as m
deed it had been for several years before. In the j
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the ■
part formerly occupied hy the nipple of the right
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so )
painful as to deprived her of rest. The glands tm- j
dertlie right arm were enlarged; and scirrflus, and
a hard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now j
arrest the disease. Indeed her w hole-body appear- i
ed to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
both her parents having died of Pulmonary eon
sumption. The experiment was now made with |
this Alterative. It was at first given in small
doses, three times a day, and the doses very gradu
ally, hut steadily increased daily, as long as she
took it, which was about six months, and the skin
over and around the tumour was wet night and
morning with a strong solution of lodine and Hy
driodate Potash. The tumour continued increas
ing in size for about six weeks, and was at times
painful, when the pain suddenly ceased alto
gether, and the tumour swelled out at the base, and
became soft, and then began to diminish, and con
tinued gradually decreasing until every vestige of
disease was removed. The tumour in her left
breast, and those in her right axilla were also dis
persed. No cancerous or scrofulous tumours ever
geared afterwards; and her general health, w hich
bad been so bad for fourteen years as to make life a
burthen, was effectually and permanently restored.
The proprietor is in possession of the diseased
breast, and those who choose may examine it. He
would also say that he could mention over a dozen
eases equally interesting, wherein his Alterative
has subdued cancer tutd cancerous tumours, but he
has not room hereto record there.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge,N. J.,
had a goitrous tumour on the left side, of her w ind
pipe, as large as the half of an orange, w hich w as
cured by using this Alterative Jbr about four
months.
Miss R S , South Fourth -street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of (he
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breast-bom:, and extended around on
each side of her nock to behind her ears, and from
her ears to her shoulders, and produced awful de
formity. It commenced growing when she was
but five years old. and continued gradually to in
crease until she was nineteen, at which time she
commenced using this Alterative, which site took
for seven months, which entirely reduced the en
largement; and she has now as smooth and pretty
a neck as can be found. The proprietor is not at
.iberty to give her name in print, but will refer per
sons to her.

! €OLLCTON BITTERS.
FOR DVS PERTH'S.
rBAJIEHE PITT EPS are purely a vegetable
& compound, and are offered to the pub
-1 lie from a principle ‘of benevolence, under the full
est conviction ’hat they will he found a safe and
j sovereign remedy tor Dyspepsia. They have been
i triumphantly p sled not only by Fontc of the most
: respectable families in the. State, who have furnish
ed ample testimony as to their derided excellence,
hut also hy the proprietor, who, for ten years, suf
fered all the gloom incident to that distressing dis
ease. They possess the peculiar excellence denied
to most other Hitters, of not proving Injurious by
I continued use. They contain not a single delete
! rious ingredient, and, as seen from the directions
| which accompany each bottle, may he given w ith
- entire safety to an infant in the month.
If the Colleton is taken regularly an 1 persever
ing! y,( vvhicft is highly imporjant in st übborn eases,)
they will, soon after the useof a few 7 hollies, be
found to act on the system like a charm—imparting
vigor to the stomach, bracing (he nerves, cleans
ing the liver, promoting digestion, increasing the
appetite, strengthening the chest and voice, reliev
ing pains, cramps, and stitches in the hrea-t. They
are also most excellent for cholera morbus, habitual
constipation, sea-sick ness, nausea, proceeding from
whatever cause. Jn cases of general debility, it
has proved one of the best remedies, and is there
fore highly recommended to elderly people, literary
gentlemen, students, and others of sedentary habits.
Taken in small doses frequently through the day,
they have checked the most violent diarrhoea, arid
likewise been administered with the happieste fleet
cholera infantum.
In all the foregoing complaints, these Bitters will
he found effectual if persisted in, and taken accord
ing to the directions which accompany each bottle.
And although it has been testified by several that
j they are excellent in many others, yet in none other
than those above enumerated, is the proprietor w ill
ing to vouch for their efficacy. They were prima
rily and solely intended to cure Dyspepsia.
The Colleton Bitters have been eight years be
fore the public; and in consequence of the increas
i ing demand for this valuable medicine, the proptie
| lor has entered largely into the business—bottles
i f-te procured having "Colleton Bitters”moulded in
; litem—they are also numbered, sealed and stamp
i ed with an appropriate motto. I’ricesl pcrbotlle.

particular. 1 have seen the Colleton repeatedly and

GALVANIC RINGS
AND
MAG.N ETIC ELI ID.
flpll 18 remarkable invention, which has received the
M iiliiKt-a universal approbation of the medical pro
fession of (treat Britain, comprises an entirely new ap
plication of Galv auism, as a remedial agent, hy me ins of
w inch the ordinary Galvanic Batteries. Electric anil Mag
netic Machines. &c., are entirely dispensed with, and the
mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any
; of the'Objections which are insuperable from the gene
i ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu
| lur intervals, in which Galvanism is applied hy the Ma
chines, has been pronounced, after a fair and impartial
: trial, to bo tECim- ni.y injurious, and it was to remedy
! this radical defect, that this new application was pro
j jected, which after unceasing toil and persevt ranee, lias
j been brought to its present state of perfection. The
Galvanic Kings answer all the purposes of the most •
expensive Machines, and in many other respect- are
more safe and certain 7 in accomplishing the desired 1
> effect.
| The Galvantc Rings, used in connection with the j
! Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in all i
DISORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN- !
i HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, till (I !
i these complaints are among the most painful arul uni
versal to which we are subject. They arise, withoutex
, ception, from one simple cause—u derangement ot the i
I Nervous system—and it was in these case- that other j
j “remedies” having 7 so often tailed, a new agent was j
j greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, lias j
been found in the proper and judicious application of ,
Gal vanism.
The Galvanic Kings have been used with eitfircsnc 1 -
cess in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap
plying to the head, face oi limbs : Gout, 'I ic-Dolor fix
Toothache. Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick
Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses. Palsy, Epilebsy,
Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexv,
Stiffness of .Joints, Spinal Complaints, Kumbago,
Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side. General Dliuli
tv. Deficiency oe Nervous and Physical Energy,
and alt. Nervous Disorders. Jn case.- of confirmed
j Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement ol
the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc
cessful. Their extraordinary etlocts upon the system j
must be witnessed to be believed, and a.- a certain the- •
vestive for the preceding complaints they are equal
ly recommended. The Rings are of different prices, i
being made of all sizes, and of various prnamental pat
terus.and ean be worn hy the most delicate female without
the slightest inconvenience. Jn fact the sensation is
rather agreeable than otherwise.
The (Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, &c.
1 n some cases of a very severe character and of long
I standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings
I is net sufficient to arrest lit** pttogro-r of disease and ulti
-1 mutely 7 to restore health. The improved modification in
I the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, fee., entirely leme
i dies this objection : any degree of power that is required
can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the
mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be
| permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the
waist, arms, v\ ri-ts, limbs, ancles or any part of ilic body
with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces
; are used with greater benefit in eases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally; also in eases of Ner
| vous Deafness; ami with almost uniform success as a
preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar
complaints.
Christie’s Magnetic Fluid.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and
1 all their modifications. This composition has been pro- j
nounced by 7 the French Chemist-to be one of the most
l extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is,be
; lieved to possess a remarkable power of RENDEHtnc Ihe
i Nerves seusitive toGalvaiijc actioii, by these means
causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of ;lis
! ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No
j otherconiposiiion in chemistry is known to produce the
' same effector to impart a similar property to the nervous
! system by means of an outward local application. The
! Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of thesiight
cst injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless
: in its action n.s it is beneficial in its result. Full explana
tions and directions accompany it. The combined in-
I volitions are in every way 7 perfectly harmless; they are
1 at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only re
j quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy
! and permanent benefit.
1 Christie's Galvanic Strengthening Pias
ters.
These articles form another valuable application of
the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are an
j important adjunct to the genuine Galvaihc limes and
i their modifications, acting upon the same principle, hut
; having this advantage of more local application. They
are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in
the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in
all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases
of Pain and Weakness i i the Chest or Back. Pain in the
Side, in Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Op
pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com
plaints: their effects are of the most decided character,
and they have often been used with complete success.
1 They arc also of the greatest advantage in Pains and
I Weakness of the Breast, and arc highly recommended
i for many 7 of those complaints to which females are
especially liable. As an effectual means for Strengtlien
i ins 7 the system when debilitated with disease or oilier
i cause#; as a ceitaus aid in Constitutional NV eakness. as a
j Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest
: generally the Galvanic Strengthening Plaster will be
found of great and permanentadvantage. 1 n a few words,
i p embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation
