slightly declined.

MA( ON. May 11.— C'olton —The cotton market I
remains \\ about any change since our last. The i
quantity off-ring is still quite limited. We quote !

NEW ORLEANS, May th— Codon. —Arrived i
since the 4lh instant. 5189 biles. Cleared in tiie
same time 4258 bales—making an addition to stock
ol 941 bales, and leaving on band, inclusive of all
on ship hoard not cleared on the 7ili instant, a
Block 01'2U8.595 hales.
We leti ilie cotton market in a very firm posi
tion at i he date of our last report, with but a light
stock offering at nor then quotations, which, un
der the favorable influence of a decline m freights
and an advance in exchanges, exhibited an im
provement of an i a ic upon the closing rates of
the week previous. On Wednesday the business
was confined to some 1600 bales, but a rather more
active enquiry prevailed on Thursday, v\ lien about
3200 bales were disposed of. On that day also,
the news of the arrival of the Sarah Sands readi
ed here by express, but indy in the shape of a brief
telegraphic siip, remarking in regard to cotton
that tlie Liverpool market bad undergone no
change after the departure of the Camnria, two
days previous. Yesterday our market was very
quiet, only about :000 bales having been sold,
making a total for the past three days ofsß >0 bales, 1
taken mostly lor the North, with some f< w parcels j
for England and the Continent. The total sales '
of the week sum up 14,800 bales. As regards prj- •
res, we do not find any change sufficiently mark- |
ed loculi for an alteration of mir figures, though I
we may remark that the number of buyers is so I
limited at the moment that the advantage is rather !
in their fax or.

Dear Sir. I have used the Gin bought of you
for two years and I very cheerfully recommend it
to the Colton planters of Oglethorpe and other
counties ol Georgia, it turns off sufficiently fast
to make good Colton—it beingsosaws—will throw
out about 80U lb. of lint a day. Tbe quality of the
Cotton basin Augusta ranged half cent higher at
each of my sales than other sales of those days, am!
it has been pronounced by those considered com

Gin. Yours very respectfully,

Oglethorpe County, April 22, 1817,
I have used for the last three years a machine
that was made by S. R. Crenshaw, of Crawford
villy. I consider uone of the best Gins I tiave
ever seen. Two small mules will gin, with a
great deal of ease, three bales perday, and 1 do not
think there is a gin in Georgia that can excel it in
making fine cotton. ]ll fact, .Mr. Crenshaw has
sold a many gins in this county and Elbert,
and 1 think tint every man who has purchased is
perfectly satisfied. All of Ids gins which have
been sold in this county, and they are nut a lew,
run light, pick fast, and what is better than all,
w hen the cotton i- carried to market it sells for tii*-
very highest price. C. iB. MKilr.lvvETnr.ll.

Atr. JD. Ilammack —l certify that I bought of
S. R. Crenshaw, last year, a forty-five saw anti

makes as good -Qotion as the Carver Gins, in my
opinion. i*. G, Khome.
