COTTON. —Our last review left the market in
a very unsettled state, both buyers and sellers
looking for llie Hibernia's advices then nearly

GROCERIES. —Onr grocery market has been
rtitlter quiet during the past week, and the business
confined principally to the filling of small coun
try orders. There is no scarcity of any article that
we hear of and the stocks of our merchants were
never belter at this season of the year.
CORN.—This article is looking np again. There
has been a good enquiry for it at improved prices,
but the stock being light, the sales have been limil
•ed and confined mostly to smalt parcels in sacks at
75 cents,sacks included.
FLOUR—AIso has an upward tendency, and
the-ales made this week, generally small parcels.
_ai £5 per bid.—stock light, demand fair. A lot ol
good, in merchantable condition, would readily
bring, we believe, sf> 50 per hhl. while there are
one or two lots on the market, equal to any north
ern, that is held at 37.
B ACON. —There has been a good demand for
the article at former prices, Bc. the hog round, hnt
the receipts have been light and prices have de
cidedly an upward tendency.
SALT.—At the present moment there is a fair
Mock on hand, but prices are looking up. We
understand a sale has- been made this week oi
about 2000 bushels loose at 10 cents fter bushel.—
Loose is retailing from store at 45 cents, and sacks
at 31,50 a 1,62.
COFFEE.—Good stuck on hand, principal!}
Rio. Sales this week of about 150 bags at BJc.
\v> quote 84 a 9 cents per lb. at wholesale and 94
a 10 by retail.
MOLASSES.—Fair stock of Cuba and New Or
leans, but not much demand at the present mo
ment. Cuba is held at 28 a 30c. from store, and
New Orleans at 40 a 43, according to quality and
qnamiiy.
SUGARS.—Stock of all descriptions good. No
large sales to report this week. We quote Musco
vado 8 a 10; Porto Rico and St. Croix 9 a 9i; New
Orleans 3 a 9.
EXCHANGE.—Onr Banks are now selling
Sight Checks on Northern cities at 1 per cent,
prem. *treliase sight a five days Sight
Checks on New York at i prem. —hut there is
very little offering—6o day bills, la I.
4 HEIGHTS.— We have no change to notice in
the rates to cither Savannah or Charleston —nor
is there much Cotton offering to either place. The !
River is still in good boating condition, with every
prospect of remaining so for some time to come.
