a pd Liver Complaint, NertuMs Diseases, Dropsical
Swellings, Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori
ginating from a depraved or Impute state of the
Blood of other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re- ;
tspectfully assure the public that he has not offered
tins preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion, and close and rigid study, nor until after
swelve years' experience had manifested its great
superiority over every other article of the kind, —
pnd he now recommends it with confidence, fully
elievmg that the above combination of medicines
wiil effectually eradicate trom the system a class
ol diseases some ol which have heretolore been con
sidered incurable.
He has prescribed it in almost every variety of
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous aflections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri
ty of the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors.
He has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu- i
mors, and in every case bui one with perfect and
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed if in over a hundred cases of
goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary j
case of failure. AH were cured.
The success he has met with in curing broncho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases mav be
removed with as much certaintv as Fever and
Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say
ing that they can be cured m soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty; ami further, that
be has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed,
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from winch that peculiar
class ol diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate,
Scrofula—King’s Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous
cases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell
ings, and always with the most decided success.
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew'
and jaundiced skin, Ac.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint
It has been Used in numerous cases of liver com- I
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Ti c-D oulour eux.
It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
nianj cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every !
Case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed;
Gout
A number of cases of gout hare been cured by
this preparation, lu one of the»e cases, the man :
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen
years as to entirely disable him from business, and
tor five months immediately previous to his taking |
♦he Alterative he had been confined to his room; !
but before he had finished the third bottle, he was j
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to bis business, from which he hud so long I
been excluded by his affliction.
Dropsical Swellings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un- :
natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous aflections.
In fact, in everv case where the medicine has
been taken for some time, no matter for what pur- *
pose, the general health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some ■
of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by \
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; blit
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this time.
Cgjicer.
An interesting cose cured by Jayne's Alterative. r
In the spring of 1831. a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. AH probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, bv Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The j
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by \
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac- j
ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi- i
hie sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to got about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
!>art formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
ireast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
ld to be a mass ot disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit, 1
eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con- i
bumption. The experiment was now made with
shis Alterative. It was at first given :.i small doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually, I
but steadily increased daih , as long as she took it, i
which was about six months, and the skin over and I
around the tumour was wet night and morning with I
a strong solution ot lodine and Hydriodate Potash. |
The tumour continued-increasing in size for about j
six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the I
pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour ;
swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then j
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas
ing until every vestige of disease; was removed.— :
The tumour in her left breast, and those in her I
right exilia were also dispersed. No cancerous or
scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
her general health, which had been so bad for four
th en years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
in possession of the diseased breast, and those who i
choose may examine it. He would also say that |
he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, but be has not room here
to record them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton's Bridge, N. J., had
a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe,
as large as the half of an orange, which w'as cured
by usingthis Alterative for about four months.
Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which tilled the entire space between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each
side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her
• ears to her shoulckrs, and produced awful deformi
ty. It commenced growing when she was hut five
years old, and continued gradually to increase un- ,
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced
using tills Alterative, which she took for seven
months, which entirely reduced the enlargement;
and site has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can
be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give
her name in print, but will refer persons to her.

G A L VANIC RINGS A N D
Magnetic Fluid.
TI!3HIS remarkable invention, which has received
JL the almost universal approbation of the Medi
-1 cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en
tirely new application ol Galvanism, as a remedial
agent, by means ot which the ordinary Galvanic
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines. Ac.,
are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious
i powers of Galvanism applied without any of the
objections which are inseparable from the general
mode now in use. The strong doses, amt at irre r-
I nlar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied hv the
Machines, has been pronounced after a fair anil im
| partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to
remedy this radical defect, that this new applica
tion was projected, which after unceasing toil and
i perseverance lias been brought to its present state
ol perfection. The Galvanic Rings answer all the
purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in
many other respects are more safe and certain in
j accomplishing the desired effect.
'Fhe Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in
all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un
healthy stale of the nervous or vital system, and those
complaints are among the most painful and univer
sal to which we are subject. They arise, without
exception, to one single cause —a derangement of
the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that
other “remedies" having so often failed, a new
i agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently
believed, has been found in the proper and judi
! cions application of Galvanism.
The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire
success in ali cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, j
applying to the head, face or limbs: Gout, Tic- j
Dolor eux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous 1
or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, |
Epilepsy , Fits, Crump, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap- j
popfexy. Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Linn- |
lot go. Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors , Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil
itif. Deficienm of Nervous and Physical Energy, and
all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys
pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally ,
successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the
system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a |
certain Preventive for the preceding complaints i
they are equally recommended. The Rings are of !
different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va
rious ornamental patterns, and can he worn by the •
most delicate female without the slightest incon- |
venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea- |
hie than otherwise-.
The Galvanic Bells, Bracelet, 1
Garters, Necklaces, Arc.
In some cases of a very severe character ami of '
long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic
Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis- 1
j ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv- ■
' ed modification in the Galvanic Pelts, Bracelets,
I &c.. entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
| of power that is required can readily he obtained,
and no complaint which the mysterious agent of ,
Galvanism can effect will fail to he permanently re- i
I lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist,ai ms-, j
wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with
perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are
used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or j
I affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
• Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success
as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and
' similar complaints.
CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings,
and all their modifications. This composition has
i been pronounced by the French Chemists to be
one of the most extraordinary discoveries ofmod
i ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable
; pow er of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Gtdvanic
action, by these means causing a circulation of the
influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra
! pid and permanent relief. No other composition in
i chemistry is known to produce the same effect or
| to impart a similar property to the nervous system J
j by means of an outward local application. The j
1 Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the j
j slightest injury, its application is agreeable, ami it ,
| is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its j
i result. The combined inventions are in everv way !
| perfectly harmless ; they are at prices within reach \
ot all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial,
as a test of tueir surprising efficacy and permanent j
benefit.
Galvanic Strengthening Plas- '
ters.
' These articles form another valuable application
! and the mysterious influence of Galvanism.’ They !
; are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic j
■ Rings and their modifications, acting upon the
i same principle, hut having this advantage of more
• local application. They are confidently recom
mended as a valuable addition in the speedj- cure I
of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous !
{ complaints, and as A positive remedy in cases of !
j Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in j
j, the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in W eakness
I or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi- j
rial Complaints, their effects are of the most decided j
character, and they have often been used with
complete siftcess. They are also of the greatest j
advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast, [
and are highly recommended for many of those
complaints to which females are especially liable. !
As an effectual means for Strengthening the sys- •
tem when debilitated by disease or other causes J ;
as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the
Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas*
) ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage. !
I In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the
i best tonic preparation with the important addition
of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair
| ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These
; articles will be found entirely free from those ob
jections which are a constant source of complaint
w-ith the ordinary Piasters in common use.

JN Ottering this valuable medicine to the people
_ ot Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis

for it infallibility, neither do T say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom
; mend its use. from my personal observation and use
; of the article in my oWn practice. This article is
I favorably received wherever it has Oeen used. 1
am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup,

be added, who bear their tcstihio.hv to, its •value.—*
Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his
own case, and has prescribed it to many others,
gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest
i and most valuable medicines that can be used, in
imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation
and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in
billious complaints, to persons recovering from bil
lions fevers.and in sick or nervous head-ache. To
pregnant women, who are subject to costivenesS,
this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state
ot tlie stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion,
it is particularly useful,
i I could append a long list of certificates, but for
bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi
cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and
certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific.

DR. DE ROY’S “
VECRT.VBLE UNIVERSAL HILLS.
1 THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal
( Agents has ever been that in their process of pur
-1 gallon and purification, they have also Debilitated
the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al
ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary
Fvil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of
ovr. disease at the expense of another. To obviate
tins, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that
would at the same time
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN.
I But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they
| had almost despaired of success when the labors of
I science and research, were rewarded by a discov
ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the
Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as
one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy
j has ever achieved. This important desideratum is
' named
Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills.
Which Purify the Blood, and remove ail corrupt
• and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from
| the body in a manner never before rivalled, and
which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what
ever. but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and
invigorate the constitution during the progress of
their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite
those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable
qualities, hvarnation and Invigoratiorf. for they are
at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA
TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONKA
'I he two paiacipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s
Pills are
WILD CHERRY A SARSAPARILLA.
So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef
fect of the other, the former strengthening, while
the latter, through its union with various vegetable
ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su
perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges
tive Functions, and hence their Operations are at
tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness.
Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search
ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack
the very root of Diseases, and their action is so
prompt that in an hour or two alter they are taken,
the patient is aware of their good effects. They
not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle,
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good
blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro
duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a
family medicine they have no rival. Price 25 cts,

about two years since they were put in operation,
and I do not know that they have ever been de

ling, of the Matte a wan Company, has put in opera
tion in my establishment eight of Smith’s Self-
Acting Mules, seven of 432 spindles, and one of 312
spindles. They perform to the greatest satisfac
tion, and the Mule itself is considered by all prac
tical men as the best of the kind in the country.

Norristmcn, Pa., Jan. 10th, 1815.—Mr. Stribling,
from the Matteawan Company, New York, has just
finished putting in operation for me ten of Smith’s
Self-Acting Mules, for spinning twist and filling,
which operate to our entire satisfaction.

Great Falls Mills , April 25, 1815.—Wm. B. Leo
nard, Esq.—Dear Sir—This Company have had
in operation of Self-Acting Mules—Sharp's, Rob
erts & Co’s., Mason’s and Smith’s. The two for
mer for more than two years, and the latter for up
wards of one year last past. I have kept an accu
rate account of the product, waste and cost of oper
ating each description of Mule, and the result is
decidedly in favor of Smith’s.
I have no hesitation in saying the Smith’s Mule
will turn off more work per spindle than any other
j now in use ; that it requires less trouble to keep it in
order, and may he kept in repair at less expense.
Yours, respectfully, J. A. Burleigh.
