X medicinal virtues of those articles, which long
experience lias proved to possess the most safe
and elKcieut alterative and deobstruent properties,
or the cure of Scrofula, King’s Evil, 11 lute Swell- I
ings, Ulcers , Scrofulous, Cancerous and Indolent \

and Liver Complaint, Nervous Diseases. Dropsical j
Swellings. Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori
ginating from a depraved or Impure stale ol the
Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public that he has nat offered
preparation to their notice without due renec-
Bon, and close ami rigid study, nor until after
twelve years’ experience had manifested its great
Superiority over every other article of the kind. —
a nd lie now recommends it with confidence, fully
believing that tlie above combination of medicines
will effectually eradicate from the Svstem a class
of diseases some" of which have heretofore befen’eon
sidered incurable.
He has prescribed it in almost every variety of
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impui i- I
ty of the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors.
He has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and in every case but one with perfect and ;
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of I
goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to ,
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary
Case of failure. Ail were cured.
I he success lie has met with in curing broncho
cele and cancerous affections lias convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as Fever and
Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say- ;
ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty: and further, that
he has good reason for believing that this prepara- !
tion will not only cure those diseases when formed, \
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate i
Scrofula—King's Evil.
This preparation has been' used in numerous i
cases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell
ings, and always with the most decided success.

Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed if in a great \ ariety of cutane- i
ovrs affections, and found it successful in curing salt
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew
and janmdreed skin, Ac.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used hi numerous case's of liver com

and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great |
many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every I
case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed.
Gout.
A number of cases of gout, have been cured bv I
this preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen ,
years as to entirely disable him from business, and I
for five months immediately previous, to his taking
the Alterative he had been confined to his room;
but before he had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re- j
turned to his business, from which he hud so long
been excluded by his affliction.
Dropsical Swallings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by j
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all Un- j
natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts i
-tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
>dck and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken for some time, no matter for what pur
nose, the general health of the patient has always
%een improved by it.
• In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
‘cet, broaehocele. and scrofula, have been cured by :
•this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but
■♦rant of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this, time.
Cancer.
* Jim interesting case cured by Jayne’s Alterative.
! In th£ spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
.Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
■one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The
■whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac
iter. In about three months, after enduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
spring of 1837. upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately oyer the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
td to he a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
•eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con
bumption. The experiment was now made with
shis Alterative. It was at fi.st given in small doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually,
but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it,
which was about six months, and the skin over and
around the tumour was wet night and morning witli
a strong solution of lodine anil Hydriodate Potash.
The tumour continued increasing in size for about
six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the
pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour
swelled out at the base, ami became soft, and then
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas
ing until every vestige of disease was removed.—
The tumour in her left breast, and those in her
right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or
♦scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
her general health, which had been so bad for four
teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
in possession of the diseased breast, and those who
choose may examine it. He would also say that
he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here
to record them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had
a goitrous tumour on tlie left side of her windpipe,
as large as the half ol an orange, which was cured
Alterative tor about four months.
Miss Iv , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, w&s also cured oi an enlargement ol tlic
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each
side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her
cars to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi
ty. It commenced growing when she was but five
years old, and continued gradually to increase un
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced
using this Alterative, which she took for seven
months, which entirely reduced the enlargement;
and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can
be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give
her name in print, but will refer persons to her.

HOW AWFULLY CULPABLE.
TO NEGLKCT USING THE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery, N. Y.
MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump
tion, or any affection of the Lungs. Liver or
Chest, after reading the following letter, just re
ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West
chester County New York.
Taruytowk, Aug. 9, 18-14.
1 Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex
press the gratitude which I feel towards you for
| the interest you have taken to relieve me in my
distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy
cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few
months after, I commenced coughing and raising
offensive matter, which smelt very had. Having
heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
j coughs I tried a few boxes of them, but they hud
not the least effect on me. 1 then called in the
best physicians in the place, who attended me a
few months, but without success; I then saw an ad
vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistars
Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three
bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets,
but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect
from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in
jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced
j raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down
sick and eonfiued to the house for three months,
during which time 1 lost my appetite and fell away
very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis
of New York, (one of the best physicians in the
J’ city.) but he could do me no good. 1 again became
worse, and was confined to tlie house all last winter
and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting
| any better, as I again raised blood and my cough
' was very severe, together with a pain in my
breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends
now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought
i every day was the last. About this time 1 heard
of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good
for consumption, but I was like many others, and
was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I
however finally consented to fry it, as I thought it
could make me no worse. My brother then pur
chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and
commenced taking it, and by the time 1 had used
one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the
morning 1 had an appetite for my breakfast. 1 still
keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the
pain in my breast is entirely gone, and 1 raise no
more blood. Within the lust two months I have
gained in weight six pounds and much in strength.
I would therefore, advise all who have any affec
tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe
! it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases
| of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the
above statement relative to your valuable medicine,
let him call on me, and 1 w ill convince him of its
virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE.

GALVANIC RINGS AND
.Magnetic Fluid.
rtNHIS remarkable invention, which has received
X the almost universal approbation of the Medi- i
cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an eu- |
tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial i
agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.,
are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious
powers of Galvanism applied without any of the 1
objections which are inseparable from the general
mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg
ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the
Machines, has been pronounced after a fa r and im
partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to j
remedy this radical defect, that this new applica
fiou wag.projected, which after unceasing toil and ,
perseverance has been brought to its present state !
joi perfection. T. he Galvanic Rings answer all the :
purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in 1
; many other respects are more safe and Certain in 1 ■
accomplishing the desired effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the !
Magnetic Pluid, are confidently recommended in !
all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or tot- |
healthy state of the nervous or vital system , and those
complaints are among the most painful and mover- !
sal to which we are subject. They arise, without
exception, to one single cause—a derangement of
the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that
other “remedies” having so often failed, a new
agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently
believed, has been found in the proper and judi
cious application of Galvanism.
The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire ;
success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic,
applying to the head, face or limbs: Gout, Tic
's Doloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo. Nervous
( nr Sick Headache , Indigestion. Paralyses, Palsy,
j Epilepsy , Pits, Cramp. Palpitation of'the Heart, Ap-
I poplexy , Stiffness of joints. Spinal Complaints, Lum
-1 bago, Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors, Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side , General Debt/- |
ifu. Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and |
I all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys- !
\ pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of |
tlie digestive organs, they have been found equally !
successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the !
; system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a i
certain Preventive for the preceding complaints j
they are equally recommended. The Rings are of
different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va- |
j rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn bv the !
most delicate female without the slightest incon- !
venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea
ble than otherwise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, Ac.
In some cases of a very severe character and of
1 long standing the power a? applied bv the Galvanic
, Ring s is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis- j
; ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv- j
' ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets , |
! entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
! of power that is required can readily be obtained, '
i and no complaint which the mysterious agent of
i Galvanism can effect will fail to he permanently re
| lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms,
wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with
' perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are
i used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
| affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
J\ervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success
as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and
similar complaints,
CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings,
and all their modifications. This composition fvas
been pronounced by the FrSnch Chemists to be
j one of the most extraordinary discoveries of mod-
I ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable
power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic
action, by these means Causing a circulation of the
influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra
pid and permanent relief. No other composition in
chemistry is known to produce the same effect or
to impart a similar property to the nervous system
by means of an outward local application." The
Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the
slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it
is as harmless hi rts action as it is beneficial in its
result. The combined invention-are in everyway
| perfectly harmless ; they are at prices' within reach
! of all. and the discoverer only requests a fair trial,
as a test of their surprising ClScaey and permanent
I benefit.
Chri&lie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas
tors.
These, articles form another valuable application j
and the mysterious influence of Galvanism,. They
are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic !
; Rings and their modifications, acting upon the
j -anie principle, but having this advantage of more
! local application. They are confidently recom
! mended as a valuable addition in the- speedy cure
; of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous
complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of
Fain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in
the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness
or Oppression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spi
nal Complaints, their effects are of the most decided
character, and they have often been used with
complete success. They are also of the greatest
advantage in Pains and Weakness of the Breast,
and are highly recommended for many of those
I complaints to which females are especially liable.
; As an effectual meam. for Strengthening the sys
| tem when debilitated by disease or other causes;
; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
1 Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the
Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ter, will he found of great and permanent advantage.
In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of tlie
best tonic preparation with the important addition
of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair
ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These
articles will be found entirely free from those ob
j jections which are a constant source of complaint
with the ordinary Plasters in common use.

DR. JOEL BRANHAM’S LIVER AND
DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE.
I‘N ofFe ring this valuable medicine to the people
. of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis
eases incident to a Southern climate, 1 do not claim
tor it infallibility} neither do 1 say it will cure all
diseases. Hut in Chronic Liver Affections and
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom
mend its use. from my personal observation and use
i of the article in my own practice. This article is
favorably received wherever it has been used. 1
I am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup.
| Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of
| Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D.
I Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La
grange} to which a great number of names might
be added, who bear their testimony to its value.—
i)r. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his
own case, and has prescribed it to many others.
| gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest 1
and most valuable medicines-that can he used in i
imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation
and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in
billions complaints’, to persons recovering from bil
lions fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To |
pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness, 1
this medicine is weJl suited. In regulating the state
of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion,
it is particularly useful.
I could append a long list of certificates, but for
bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi
cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and
certain cathartic, tonic and .sudorific.

vegetable universal pills,
THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal |
Agents has ever been that in their process of pur
gation and purification, they have also Debilitated
the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al
ways been regarded as at best But a Nrccssarjf
Ecil; Patients resorting to them for tH'e relief of !
one disease at the expense of another. To obviate. I
this, Physicians have long sought for ah Agent that
would at the same time , , . ,
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN,
But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they
had almost despaired of success when the labors of
science and research, were rewarded by a discov
ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the
Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as
one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy
has ever achieved. This important desideratum is
named
Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills.
W hich Purify the lilootl, and remove ail corrupt
and ciliated humors , and unhealthy accumulations from
the body in a manner never before rivalled, and
which yet produce no weakness or lassitude what
ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and
invigorate the constitution during the progress of
their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite
those heretofore irreconcilable, but most drsirable
qualities, Evacuation ami Invifroration, for they are I
at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA
TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC.
Ihe two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s
Pills are
WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA.
So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef
fect of the other, the former strengthening, while
the latter, through its union with various vegetable
ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su
perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges
tive Functions, and hence their operations are at
tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness.
Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search
ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack
the very root of Diseases, and their action is so
prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken,
the patient is aware of their good effects. They
not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle,
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good
blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro
duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a
family medicine they have no rival. Price 25 cts,
per box.
