The proprietor of this Alterative would most re- j
spectfullv assure the public that he has not offered |
preparation to their notice without due reflec
tion. and close and rigid study, nor until after ,
twelve years’ experience had manifested its great
nperioritv over everv o+Ner ar*icle of the kind. —
v a-id he now rcfcomißcnds it with confidence, fully 1
believing that me above combination ol medicines
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of diseases some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
He has prescribed il in almost every variety of
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous ami
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impan
ty of the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors,
lie has used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu
mors, and in every case but one with pcrtect and
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of
goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary ,
case of failure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing broncho
cele and cancerous aliections lias convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as Fever and
Ague. He does not wish to be understood as say
ing that they can be cured as soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that
he has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed,
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, iis well as that of scrofula emanate
Scrofula —King’s EviL
This preparation lias been used in numerous
cases of scrofula. King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell- 1
ings. and always with the most decided success.
Skin Diseases.
He lias prescribed it in a great variety of cutane- I
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt |
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew |
and jaundiced skin, &c.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect.
Tic-D onloureux.
It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful;
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every
case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed.
Gout.
A number of cases of gout have been cured by
this preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen
years as to entirely disable him from business, and
for five months immediately previous to Iris taking
the Alterative he had been confined to his room;
but before he had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from which he had so long
been excluded by his affliction.
Dropsical Swellings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un
natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken for some time, no matter for what pur
pose, the general health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, {he proprietor would say that some
©f the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, bronchocele. and scrofula, have been cured by
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this time.
Cancer.
A n interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative.
In the spring of 1831. a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Bhcebe, wife of Peter
Stretch. of Salem N. J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Kliea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter. lu about tliree months, after enduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
springoflß37, upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con
bmnption. The experiment was now made with
shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually,
but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it.
which was about six months, and the skin over and
around the tumour was wet night and morning with
a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash.
Tlie tumour continued increasing in size for about
six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the
pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour
swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas
ing until every vestige of disease was removed.—
The tumour in her left breast, and those in her
right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or
scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
her general health, which had been so bad for four
teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
in possession of the diseased breast, and those who
choose may examine it. He would also say that
he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, but be has not room here
to record them.
Mrs. Sarah \ oung, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had
% goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe,
large as the half of an orange, which was cured
by using this Alterative for about four months.
Miss R S . South Fourth-street, Phila
deiphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each
side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her
cars to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi
ty. It commenced growing whey she was but live
years old. and continued gradually to increase un
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced
using this Alterative, which she took for seven
months, which entirely reduced the enlargement;
and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can
be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give
her name in. print, bqt will refer persons to her.

COMPLEXION.
Surprising Efficacy.
MY EAU DIVINE DE VENUS and NYMPH
SOAP, composed of an Eastern Botanical dis
covery of surprising efficacy, for rendering the
Skin soft and fair, as well as imparting a delicate
roseate hue to the complexion.
As a creator and conservator of that ftfost distin
guishing charm of female loveliness, a transparent
fair skin, Jules Hauel’s Nymph Soap of Eau Divine
De Venus may be said to exert an almost magical
power. Composed for the most part of Oriental
Balsamic Plants, to tlie utter exclusion of all mine
j ral admixture, it is distinguished medicinally for its
! extremely bland, purifying and soothing action on
the skin; and by acting on the pores and minute se
cretory vessels, expels all impurities from the sur
face, allays every tendency to imfiammation, and
by this method alone, effectually dissipates all red
; ness, tan, prinples, freckles, sunburn and other un
-1 sightful cutaneous visitations, so inimical to female
| lovliness. Its use will change tlie most bilious com
j plexion into one of radiant whiteness; while on the
| neck, hands and arms it bestows a delicacy and
fairness* which its continued use will happily pro
tect, and every appearance cf youthful charm, to
the most advanced period of life. For . sale, whole

HOW AWFULLY CULPABLE.
TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery, N. V.
XXL ST those he who have Pulmonary Consump
| -LtJl tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or
Chest, after reading the following letter, just re
j ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West
j Chester County New Y ork.
Tarkytown, Aug. 9, 181-t.
Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex
press the gratitude which 1 feel towards you for
the interest you have taken to relieve me in my
distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy
cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few
months after. I commenced coughing and raising
offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having
heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
coughs 1 tried a few boxes of them, but they hud
not the least effect on me. 1 then called in the
best physicians in the place, who attended me a
few months, but without success; I then saw an ad
vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar’s
Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three
bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets,
but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect
from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in
jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced
raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down
sick and confined to tlie house for tliree months,
during which time I lost my appetite and fell away
very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis
of New York, (one of the best physicians in the
city,): but he could do me no good. 1 again became
wmr.se, and was confined to the house all last winter
and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting
any better, as I again raised blood and my cough
was very severe, together with a pain in my
breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends
now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought
every day was the last. About this time 1 heard
of your BALSAM OF LIV ERWORT being good
for consumption, but I was like many others, and
was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I
I however finally consented to try it, as I thought it
could make me no worse. My brother then pur
i chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and
i commenced taking it, and by the time 1 hud used
one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the
morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still
keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the
pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no
i more blood. Within the last two months I have
gained in weight six pounds and much in strength.
1 would therefore, advise all who have any affec
tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe
it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases
of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the
above statement relative to your valuable medicine,
let him call on me, and I will convince him of its
virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE.

The great demand for ibis most important wor»c,
I (of which thousands are sold] lias compelled the is
! sue of another edition. It is intended especially
for the married, as it discloses important secrets j
which should be known to them particularly. —
Here every female can discover the causes, symp
toms, and the most efficient remedies and most
certain mode of cure, in every complaint to which
her sex is subject.
It is an important question to the married why it
is, that we behold so many married females sickly,
debilitated, and prostrated ? as, also, the causes,
i and whether they are susceptible of remedy. They
will here find those important matters, connected
with discoveries in medical and physiological sci
ence, which meet this question.
'Phis work is destined to be in the hands of every
wife and mother who has a regard for her own
health and welfare, as well as that of her husband.
The revelations contained in its pages have al
ready proved a blessing to thousands as the innu
merable letters received by the author will attest.
It is of course impossible to convey more fully,
in a public journal, the various subjects treated of
1 us they are of a nature strictly intended for the
married or those contemplating marriage ; neither
is it necessary, since it is every one's duty to be
come possessed of knowledge, whereby the suffer
) ings to which a wife, a mothef, or a sister may be
subject, can be obviated.

* GAIVANIC RINGS AND
Magnetic Fluid.
TI N II IS remarkable invention, which has received
1 the almost universal approbation of the Medi
cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en
tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial
ageht, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.,
are entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious
powers of Galvanism applied without any of the
■ objections which are inseparable iroin the general
i mode now in use, . The strong doses, and at irreg
ular intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the
Machines, has beeii pronounced altera fair and im
partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to
remedy this radical defect, that this new applica
tion was projected, which alter unceasing toil and
perseverance has been brought to its present state
of perfection. The Galvanic Pings answer ail the
purposes of the most expensive Machines, imd in
many other respects are more safe and certain, in
accomplishing the desired effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in
all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un
healthy state of the nervous or vital system , and those
complaints arc among the most painful and univer
sal to which we are subject. They arise, without
exception, to one single cause—a derangement of
the Nervous system —and it was in these cases that
other “ remedies ” having so often failed, a new
! agent was?" greatly needed, which it is confidently
believed, has been found in the proper and judi
| cions application of Galvanism.
The Galvanic Pings have been used with entire
success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic,
applying to the head, face or limbs; Gout, Tic-
Doioreux , Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous
or t<ick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy,
Epilepsy , Fits, Cramp. Palpitation of the Heart, Ap
poplexif, Stiffness of joints. Spinal Complaints, Lum
! ha go, Neuralgia, Nerrors Tremors, Dizziness of the i
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil
: ity. Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy , and
; all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys
pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally
successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the
system must be witnessed to he believed, and as a
. certain Preventive for* the preceding complaints
they are equally recommended. The Rings are of
j different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va
; rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the
! most delicate female without the slightest incon
venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea
ble than otherwise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, &c.
In some cases of a very severe character and of
| long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic
| Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis
l ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv
ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets,
•S’C., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
of power that is required can readily he obtained,
: and no complaint which the mysterious agent of
I Galvanism can effect will fail to he permanently re
j lieVed. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms,
wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with
I perfect convenience. The Qdlvnnic Necklaces, are
used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success
as a preventive fur Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and
similar complaints.
CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings,
and all their modifications. This composition has

DR.JOEL BRAN HAM' SLIVER AND
DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE.
N offering this valuable medicine to the people
' of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis
eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim
for it infallibility; neither do I say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom
mend its use, from my personal observation and use
of the article in my own practice. This article is
I favorably received wherever it has been used. I
am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup.
Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of
Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D.
Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La
grange; to which a great number of names might
be added, who bear their testimony to its value.—
Dr. H enry Branham has used this medicine in his
own case, and has prescribed it to many others,
gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest
and most valuable medicines that can be used in
imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation
and irregular state of the how-els. It is useful in
billious complaints, to persons recovering from bil
lions fevers.aud in sick or nervous head-ache. To
prtegnant women, who are subject to costiveness,
this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state
of .the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion,
it is particularly Useful*. .
1 could append a long list of certificates, but for
bear, preffering to rely, on the virtues of the medi T
cine to sustain itself. . The medicine is a gentle and
certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific.

VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL FILLS*
THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal
Agents lias ever been that in their process pf pur- j
gation and purification, they have also Debilitated
the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al
ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary
Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of
one disease at the expense of imother . I’o obviate
this. Physicians have long sought for an Agent that
j would at the same time
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN.
I But their efforts were nearly fruitless, and they
! had almost despaired of success when the labors of
1 science ami research, were rewarded by a discov
er which fully realized the fondest desires of the

Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search- I
ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack
the very root of Diseases, and their action is so
prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken,
the patient is aware of their good effects. They
not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle,
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good
blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro
duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a
family medicine they have no rival. Price 25 cts.
