Wistar’s Salaam of Wild Cherry.
[ From the Bay Stale Democrat, Bouton, Aon. 4,101 l ]
REMEDIES. •
There are so many medicines of doubtful char
acter advertised and puffed by the newspapers at
the present time, that we should shrink from the
task we have now undertaken, were we not most
throughly convinced, from our own personal knowl
edge of the facts, what we state below.
It is of Wistar’s Ralsam of Wild Cherry 7 ' that
we would speak, and we speak advisedly. A lady
of our acquaintance, whom we see every day, was
a short time since, in what wc though a precarious,
if not dangerous state of health. A cough had set- i
tied on her lungs, her form seemed wasting away ; |
she was obliged to abandon her work, and we
thought, not soon to resume it again. For about
two months she has been taking Wistar’s Balsam
of Wild Cherry and already has she so far re
gained her health as to be able to resume her la
bor.
This is but a single case, but it is one, at least, in
which we cannot doubt the efficacy of the medi
cine.
None genuine unless signed I. BUTTS on the
wrapper.

COTTON. —We have had another dull week in
our Cotton market, and the few sales made have j
been at a slight decline from the prices paid last '
■week, say about J to $ cent. Holders, however,
are slill firm in their asking rates, and there is
very little Cotton on the market for sale. What is
put on the market sells as follows : Ordinary 10$ a
Good Ordinary 10$, Middling 11, Good Mid
dling 11 Middling Fair 1 1£. and Fair 11| cts. for
square bales. The sales during the past week have
been so limited that they are not worth reporting.
Os the growing crop, the accounts received from
the of this Iftato and Carolina are anything
but flattering, In some sections a fair average
crop it is thought will be made, while in other sec- [
tions we hear much complaint. The weather up
15 the present time has been ver} r unfavorable to
the maturing of Cotton, and from present ap
pearances there is but little prospect of a change
for the better. One thing is certain, the crop is
backward some three weeks, and unless we are
favored with a late frost, will be short of that ol
last year in this State And Carolina. Up to the pre
sent time none of the new crop has come to band.

GRISWOLD’S IMPROVED COTTON
GINS.
r*3HE subscriber will continue the manufacture
JL of GINS on his usual extensive scale; and
embraces this opportunity to thank his numerous
customers for their liberal patronage heretofore.—
The estimation in which his Gins are held may be
known from the fact of his having sold more than
two thousand within the last three years; probably
j ten to one over any other factory in the State.—
This evidence of the superiority of his Gins, is ac
counted for, by his being the first to introduce the
late improvements, and keeping the lead, by year
ly adding new ones. His first and second improve
ments, made the quality of cotton perfect, though
some were rather slow, his third made them suffi
ciently fast, it then only remained to make them j
more durable and convenient, which has been done
effectually, by several new improvements the pre
sent year; besides, he has the exclusive right ot the
State, and the privilege of other sections, to furnish
Reed’s Patent \Vater Boxes, which are believed to
j be ten times more durable than any other, by those
I who have made a fair trial of them, and are infalli
bly secure against fire by function. His fine Gins, i
will gin 3lastodon Cotton as well as any Saw Gin
can. Ilis agents will visit planters generally, and
exhibit specimens of his late improvements, and
point out their advantages, in time, for all to en- j
gage, and be supplied before next ginning season, I
or, engagements can he made by letter, directed to
‘ him at Clinton, Jones county, Georgia. Gins, will
be delivered at the purchaser’s residence in an'
part of the State, except the Cherokee counties
where they will be left at the Rail Road depot,
most convenient to the purchaser. All warranted
to perform well if used according to the printed i
directions sent with each.
