THIS valuable preparation combines all the
medicinal virtues of those articles, which long
experience has proved to possess the most safe
and efficient alterative and deobstruent properties,
or the cure of Scrofula, King’s Evil, 1 V lute Swell
ings, Ulcers, Scrofulous, Cancerous and Indolent
Tumours; Mercurial and Syphilitic Affections, Rheu
matism, (lout, Scurvey, Neuralgia or Tic-Doulou

and Liver Complaint, Nervous Diseases, Dropsical
SiceUings. Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori
ginating from a depraved or Impure state of the
Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public that he has net offered
his preparation to their notice without due reflec
fon, and close and rigid study, nor until after
welve y ears’ experience had manifested its great
uneri rypr rron- n*iipr article of the kind. —
f aadhc note recommends it with confidence, fully
believing that tue auove combination of medicines
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of diseases sopje of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable. .
. He has prescribed it in almost every variety of
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or impuri
ty of the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors.
He Las used this preparation in upwards of twen
ty well defined cases of cancer and canye.reus tu
mors. and in every case but one with perfect and
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
He has prescribed it in over a hundred cases of
goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary
'tase of failure. All wefe cured.
The success he has met with in curing broncho
cele and cancerous affections has convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as flinch certainty as Fever and
Ague. He does not wish to be understood as spy
ing that they can he cured as soon as Fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that
he has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed,
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system, from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as that of scrofula emanate
Scrofula—King’s Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous
cases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell
ings, and always with the most decided success.
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it : n a great variety of cutane
ous affections, and found it successful in curing salt
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew
and jaundiced skin. See.
Dyspepsia and Liver Complaint.
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com
plaint and Dyspepsia, andwith the happiest effect.
Tic-D oulourenx.
It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successful.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every
case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed.
Gout.
A number of cases of gout have been cured by
this preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen
years as to entirely disable him from business, and
for five months immediately previous to his taking
the Alterative he had been confined to his room - ,
but before he had finished the third bottle, he was
enabled to walk about tire streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from which he bad so long
been excluded by bis affliction.
Droosical Swellings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un
natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
eick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken for some time, no matter for what pur
pose, the general health of the patient has always
lieen improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
.of the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured bv
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; blit
want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this time.
Cancer.
An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative.
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem N. Jt It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means of removing it. wtfre used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope
of saving her life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed. Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr. Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by
all present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly had, as in
deed it had been for several years befor?* In the
spring of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had been removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
part formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
breast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
painful as to deprive her of rest. The glands un
der the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indeed her whole body appear
td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con
bumption. The experiment was now made with
shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually,
but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it,
which was about six months, and the skin over and
around the tumour was wet night and morning with
a strong solution of lodine and Hydriodate Potash.
The tumour continued increasing in size for about
six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the
pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour
swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas
ing until every vestige of disease was removed.—
The tumour in her left breast, and those in her
right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or
scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
her general health, which had been so bad for four
teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
in possession of the diseased breast, and those who
choose may examine it. He would also say that
be could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here
tare cord them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N. J., had
a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe, -
as large as the half of an orange, which was cured
by using this Alterative for about four months.
Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phda
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each
side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her
cars to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi
ty. It commenced growing when she was but five
years old. and continued gradually to increase un
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced
using this Alterative, which she took for seven
months, which, entirely reduced the enlargement;
and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can
be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give
her name in print, but will refer persons to her.

TO THE BEAUTI PIERS OF THE
COMPLEXION.
Surprising Efficacy.
MY EAU DIVINE DE V ENUS and NYMPH
SO A P, composed of an Eastern Botanical dis
covery of surprising efficacy, for rendering the
Skin soft and fair, as well as imparting a delicate
roseate hue to the complexion.
As a creator and conservator of that most distin
guishing charm of female loveliness, a transparent
fair skin, Jules Hand's Nymph Soap of Eau Divine
De Venus may he said to exert an almost magical
power. Composed for the most part of Oriental
Balsamic Plants, to the utter exclusion of all mine
ral admixture, it is distinguished medicinally for its
extremely bland, purifying and soothing action on
the skin; and by acting on the pores and minute se
cretory vessels, expels all impurities from the sur
face, allays every tendency to imflamniation, and
by this method alone, effectually dissipates all red
ness, tan, prinples, freckles, sunburn and other un
sightful cutaneous visitations, so inimical to female
lovliness. Its use will change the most bilious com
plexion into one of radiant whiteness; while on the
neck, hands and arms it bestows a delicacy and
fairness which its continued use will happily pro
tect, and every appearance of youthful charm, to
the most advanced period of life. For sale, whole

HOW 1 awfully culpable.
TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery* N. Y
’il/I’UST those be who have Pulmonary Consump
-2*-I tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or
Chest, after reading the following letter, just re
ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West
chester County New York.
Takhytown, Aug. 9,184*1,
Dear Doctor—Tt is difficult to find words to ex
press the gratitude which I feel towards you for
the interest you have taken to relieve me in my
distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy
cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few
months after, 1 commenced coughing and
offensive matter, which smelt very had. Having
heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
coughs I tried a few boxes of them, hut they had
not the least effect on me. I then called in the
best physicians in the place, who attended me a
few months, but without success; 1 then saw an ad
vertisement in one of tire city papers of Wistars
Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1 purchased three
bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets,
but 1 could not perceive the least beneficial effect
from it, on the contrary 1 think it was a great in
jury to me. Shortly after using it, I commenced
raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down
sick and confined to the house for three months,
during which time I lost my appetite and fell away
very fast; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis
of New York, (one of the best physicians in the
city,) but he could do me no good. J again became
worse, and was confined to the house ail last winter
and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting
any better, as I again raised blood and my cough
was very severe, together with a pain in my
breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends
now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought
every day was the last. About this time I heard
of your Balsam OF LIVERWORT being good
for consumption, but I was like many others, and
was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I
however finally consented to try it, as I thought it
could make me no worse. My brother then pur
chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and
commenced taking it, and by the time I had used
one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the
morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still
keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the
pain in my breast is entirely gone, and 1 raise no
more blood. Within the last two months I have
gained in weight six pounds and much in strength.
I would therefore, advise all who have any affec
k tion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr,
Tavlnr’s Balsam of Liverwort, for 1 truly believe
it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases
of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the
above statement relative to your valuable medicine,
let him call on me, and 1 will convince him of its
virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE.

GALVANIC RINGS AND
Magnetic Fluid.
rjpIIIS remarkable invention, which has received
A the almost universal approbation of the Medi
cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en
tirely new application of Galvanism, as a remedial
agent, by Ine-ans of which the ordinary Galvanic
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.,
| are.entirely dispensed with, and the mysterious
powers of Galvanism applied without any of the
; objections which ace inseparable from the general
| mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irreg
| ular intervals, in ■Which Galvanism is applied by the
Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and hn
| partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to
j remedy this radical defect, that this new applica
tion was projected, which after unceasing tod and
perseverance has been brought to its present state
of perfection. The Galvanic Kings answer ail the
purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in
many other respects are more safe and certain in
; accomplishing the desired effect.
1 The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in
! all disorders which arise from an enfeebled or un
\ healthy state of the nert'ous or vital system, and those
1 complaints arc among the most painful and univer
! sal to which we arc subject. They arise, without
exception, to one single cause—a derangement of
the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that
other “ remedies ” having so often failed, a new
agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently
believed, has been found in the proper and judi
cious application of Galvanism.
! - -The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire
success in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic,
applying to the head, face or limbs; Gout, Tic
i Doloreux, Toothache , Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous
; or ■ Bisk Ifeadache,. Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy,
. Epilepsy j Fits, Cranip, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap
poplexy. Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, Lum-
I bago, Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors. Dizziness of the
Head., Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debil
ity. Deficiency of Ncrvotis and Physical Energy, and
all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys
pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally
successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the
system must be witnessed to be believed, and as a
| certain Preventive for the preceding complaints
| they are equally recommended. The Rings are of
i different prices, being made of all sizes, and of va
rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the
J most delicate female without the slightest incon
venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea
ble than otherwise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, «sec.
! In some cases of a very severe character and of j
! long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic
Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis
i ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv
• ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets,
\ I fyc., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
of power that is required can readily be obtained,
and no complaint which the mysterious agent of
Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re
lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms,
wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with
perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are
used with greater benefit i:a cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
I Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success
! as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and
J similar complaints.
€IIRISTIE’3 MAGNETIC FLUID.
Is issued in - connection with the Galvani - Rings,
and all their modifications* This composition has
been pronounced by the French Chemists to be
one ol the most extraordinary discoveries of mod
ern science. It is believed to possess a remarkable
power of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic
action, by these means causing a circulation of the
influence at the seat of disease, and thus giving ra
pid and permanent relief. No other composition in
chemistry is known to produce the same effect or
to impart a similar property to the nervous system
by means of an oirtward local application. The
; Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the
slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and if
is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial in its
result; The combined inventions are in everyway
perfectly harmless; -they are at prices within reach
of all, and the discoverer only requests a fair trial,
as a test of their surprising; efficacy and permanent

These articles form another valuable application
and the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They
are too important adjuncts to the genuine Galvanic
Rings and their modifications, acting upon the
maie principle, but having tins advantage of more
local application. They are confidently recom
mended as a valuable addition in the speedy cure
of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in all nervous
complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases of
Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in
i the Side, Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness
or (htpression of the pulmonary Organs. In Spi
nal Complaints, their effec t* are of the most decided
character, and they have ofu°n been used with
complete success. They are also ot the greatest
advantage in Pains and Weakness ol the Breast,
and are highly recommended for many ot those
complaints to which females are especia»Jj liable.
As an effectual means for Strengthening tne st rs
-1 tern when debilitated by disease or other caused; |
! as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a 1
I Preventive for Colds, and in all affections of the
! Chest, generally, the Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ter, will be found of great and permanent advantage.
In a few words, it embraces all the virtues of the
1 best tonic preparation with the important addition
I of the Galvanic influence, which is neither impair
ed or exhausted, while the action continues. These
articles will be found entirely free from those ob
jections which are a constant source of complaint
with the ordinary Plasters in common nse.

DR. JOEL BRANHAM'S LIVER AND
DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE.
IN offering this valuable medicine to the people
of G eorgia, for the relief and cure of many dis
eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim
for it infallibility; neither do 1 say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom
mend its use. from my personal observation and use
of the article in my own practice. This article is
favorably received wherever it has been used. I
am allowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup.
Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of
Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D.
Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La
grange; to which a great number of names might
be added, who bear their testimony to its value.—
Dr. Henry Branham has used this medicine in his
own case, and has prescribed it to many others,
gives it as his opinion, that it is one of the safest
and most valuable medicines that can be used in
imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation
and irregular state of the bowels, it is useful in
billions complaints, to persons recovering from bil
lions fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To
pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness,
this medicine is Well suited. In regulating the state
of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion,
it is particularly useful.
I could append a long list of certificates, hut for
bear. prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi
cine "to sustain itself r l be medicine is a gentle and
certahi cathartic, tonic and stlddrific.-

VEGETABLE I NITERS A L PITT
THE startling drawback oh nearly all Medicinal
Agents has ever been that in then process of pur
gation and purification, they have also Debilitated
the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al
ways been regarded as at best lint a’ Necessary
Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of
one disease- at the expense of another. 'To obviate
this, Physicians baVe king sought for an Agent that
would at the same time -■
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN;
But their efforts were nearly frnitlesU and they
had almost despaired of success when the labors oi
science and research, were rewarded by a discov
ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the
Medical Faculty, and which is jystly regarded as
one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy
has ever achieved. This important desideratum is
named .
Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills.
Which Purify the Blood, and remove all corrupt
and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations front
j the body in a manner never before rivalled, and
which vet produce no weakness or lassitude what
ever. hut OU the contrary, tone the Stomach, and
invigorate the constitution during the progress of
their operation. /)■. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite
those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable
qualities, Evacuation and Jnriq-oration, for they are
i at the same time a STRENGTHENING PURGA
TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC.
4 he two puincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s
Pills are
WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA.
So prepared that each promotes the benelipial ef
fect of the other, the former strengthening, while
the latter, through its union with various vegetable
ingredients, evacuates and purifies; thus they su
perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges
tive Functions, and hence their operations are at
tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness.
Dr. Le Roy’s Pills are the most active and search
ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack
the very root of Diseases, and their action is so
prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken,
the patient is aware of their good effects. They
not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle,
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good
blood from the fountain head, moreover, the} pro
duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a
family medicine the) - have no rival. Price 25 cts.
