THIS valuable preparation combines all the
medicinal virtues of those articles, which ion;; j
experience has proved to possess the most sate
and efficient alterative and deobstrueat properties,
or the cure of Scrofula, King's Evil, \\ kite Swell
ings, Ulcers, Scrofulous, Cancerous and Indolent
Tumours; Mercurial and S syphilitic Affections, Rheu
nuitism, Gout, Scuroey, Neuralgia or Tic-Doulou
reux, Cancer, Goitre or Bronchocele, (swelled Neck,)
Enlargements of the Hones, Joints. Glands, or Liga
ments or of the Ovaries, Liver, Spleen, Kidneys, Jyc.
All the diseases of the Sirin, such as Tetter, Ring
worm, Biles, Pimples, Cat btsncles, Dyspepsia
and Liver Cotnjdaint, Nervous Diseases. Dropsical
Swellings. Constitutional Disorders and diseases ori
ginating from a depraved or Impute state ot the <
Blood or other fluids of the body.
The proprietor of this Alterative would most re
spectfully assure the public thaflie has not offered ;
l his preparation to their notice without due rcllec
lion, and close and rigid study, nor until after
welve years' experience had manifested its great
uperiority over every other article of the kind, —
B anJ he now recommends it with confidence, fully
believing that the above combination of medicines
will effectually eradicate from the system a class
of diseases some of which have heretofore been con
sidered incurable.
He has prescribed it in almost every variety of ,
diseases and with unparalleled success, especially
in cutaneous affections, cancerous, scrofulous and
scorbutic diseases, and diseases originating from
obstruction or enlargement of the glands or iaapuii- ;
ty of the blood.
Cancer and Cancerous Tumors.
He has used this preparation in upwards ot twen- |
ty well defined cases of cancer and cancerous tu- ;
mors, and in every case but one with perfect ated
entire success.
Bronchocele or Goitre, (Swelled Neck.)
fie has prescribed it in over a hundred cases ot j
goitre, and it has never failed in a single instance to j
completely remove the disease. Not a solitary
c ase of failure. All were cured.
The success he has met with in curing bronrho
celc and cancerous affections lias convinced him
that these dangerous and horrible diseases may be
removed with as much certainty as fever and
Ague'. He'does-not wish to be understood as say- I
ing that they chn be cured as sooit as fever and
Ague, but with as much certainty; and further, that |
has good reason for believing that this prepara
tion will not only cure these diseases when formed,
but that it destroys the virus or poisonous principle
lurking in the system; from which that peculiar
class of diseases, as well as that of'scrofula email ate
Scrofula —King’s Evil.
This preparation has been used in numerous
cases of scrofula, King’s Evil, and scrofulous swell
ings. and always with the most decided success.
Skin Diseases.
He has prescribed it in a great variety of cutane
ous affections, and fouud it successful in outing salt
rheum or tetter, biles, blotches, pimples, morphew
and jaundiced skin, &.c.
Dyspaosia and Laver Coraolaint,
It has been used in numerous cases of liver com- ;
plaint and Dyspepsia, and with the happiest effect, j
Tic-Douloureux.
It has been used in several cases of Neuralgia,
and in every case it was successtul.
Rheumatism.
This preparation has been prescribed in a great
many cases of chronic rheumatism, and in every
(Case in which it was used until the system became
affected by the medicine, the disease was removed.
Gout.
A number of cases of gout have been cured by
this preparation. In one of these cases, the man
had been afflicted with it so severely for thirteen
vears as to entirely disable him from business, and
for five months immediately previous to his taking
the Alterative he had been confined to his room;
but before he had finished the third bottle, be was
enabled to walk about the streets and soon after re
turned to his business, from which he had so long
been excluded by his affliction.
Dropsical Swellings.
This medicine increases the powers of digestion
excites the absorbents into healthy exercise, by
which watery or calcareous depositions, and all un
natural enlargements are reduced. It imparts
tone and vitality to the whole system, removing
sick and morbid headaches, giddiness, wandering
pains and nervous affections.
In fact, in every case where the medicine has
been taken for some time, no matter for what pur
pose, the general health of the patient has always
been improved by it.
In conclusion, the proprietor would say that some
the most astonishing cases of skin diseases, can
cer, bronchocele, and scrofula, have been cured by
this medicine, that have ever been recorded; but
•want of room in this sheet precludes their publica
tion at this time.
Cancer.
An interesting case cured by Jayne's Alterative.
In the spring of 1831, a cancerous tumor appear
ed in the right breast of Mrs. Phoebe, wife of Peter
Stretch, of Salem N. J. It was examined by many
Physicians, and was considered by all as cancerous,
and besides bore all the characteristic marks of
one. All probable means of removing it were used
without the slightest benefit. It continued to in
crease both in size and painfulness, until all hope
of saving her Life, but by a painful operation, was
abandoned, which, after a consultation of eminent
Physicians, was performed, Jan. Ist, 1832, by Dr.
John Rhea Barton, assisted by Dr, Redman, the
proprietor, and two other medical gentlemen. The
whole and entire right breast was removed, and af
ter examination of the tumor, was pronounced by
ail present a cancer of the most malignant charac
ter. In about three months, after enduring incredi
ble sufferings, she was enabled, though broken in
spirit, to get about again. She remained feeble,
and her general health was exceedingly bad, as in
deed it had been for several years before. In the
sprin» of 1837, upwards of five years after her breast
had Seen removed, a painful tumor made its ap
pearance on the right side, immediately over the
Sart formerly occupied by the nipple of the right
reast, previous to its removal. This tumor steadi
ly increased for several months, and became so
Sain ful as to deprive her of rest. The glands lin
er the right arm were enlarged; and scirrhus, and
ahard, irregular, and at times painful tumour, ap
peared in the left breast. No operation could now
arrest the disease. Indcedher whole body appear
td to be a mass of disease. Her case was consid
ered hopeless. She was of a very scrofulous habit,
eoth her parents having died of Pulmonary con
bumption. The experiment was now made with
shis Alterative. It was at first given in small doses,
three times a day, and the doses very gradually,
but steadily increased daily, as long as she took it,
which was about six months, and the skin over and
around the tumour was wet night and morning with
a strong solution of lodine atid Hydriodate Potash.
The tumour continued increasing in size for about
six weeks, and was at times very painful, when the
pain suddenly ceased altogether, and the tumour
swelled out at the base, and became soft, and then
began to diminish, and continued gradually decreas
ing until every vestige of disease was removed.—
The tumour in her left breast, and those in her
right exilla were also dispersed. No cancerous or
scrofulous tumours ever appeared afterwards; and
her general health, which had been so bad for four
teen years as to make life a burthen, was effectu
ally and permanently restored. The proprietor is
in possession of the diseased breast, and those who
choose may examine it. He would also say that
he could mention over a dozen cases equally inter
esting, wherein his Alterative has subdued cancer
and cancerous tumours, but he has not room here
to record them.
Mrs. Sarah Young, of Quinton’s Bridge, N.J., had
a goitrous tumour on the left side of her windpipe,
*s large as the halt ot an orange, which was cured
by using this Alterative for about four months.
Miss R S , South Fourth-street, Phila
delphia, was also cured of an enlargement of the
throat, which filled the entire space between the
chin and breast-bone, and extended around on each
side of her neck to behind her ears, and from her
ears to her shoulders, and produced awful deformi
ty. It commenced growing w hen she was but five
years old, and continued gradually to increase un
til she was nineteen, at which time she commenced
using this Alterative, which she took for seven
months, which entirely reduced the enlargement;
and she has now as smooth and pretty a neck as can
be found. The proprietor is not at liberty to give
her name in print, but will refer persons to her.

MY EAU DIVINE DE VENUS and NYMPH
SOAP, composed of an Eastern Botanical dis
covery of surprising efficacy, for rendering the
Skin soft and fair, as well as imparting a delicate
I roseate hue to the complexion.
As a creator and conservator of that most distin
guishing charm of female loveliness, a transparent
fair skin, Jules Hauel’s Nymph Soap of Eau Divine
De Venus may be said to exert an almost magical
power. Composed for the most part ot Oriental
Balsamic Plants, to the utter exclusion of all mine
ral admixture, it is distinguished medicinally for its
extremely bland, purifying and soothing action on
the skin; and by acting on the pores and minute se
cretory vessels, expels all impurities from the sur
face, allavs every tendency to hull animation, and
by this method alone, effectually dissipates all red
ness, tan, prinples, freckles, sunburn and other uu
sightful cutaneous visitations, so inimical to female
lovliness. Its use will change the most bilious com
plexion into one of radiant whiteness; while on the
neck, hands and arms it bestows a delicacy and
fairness which its continued use will happily pro
tect, and every appearance of youthful charm, to
the most advanced period of life. For sale, whole

HOW AWFULLY CULPABLE.
TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery, N, Y.
MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consump
tion, or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or
Chest, after reading the following letter, just re
ceived from a most respectable inhabitant of West
chester County New York.
Tahrytown, Aug. 9, 1814.
Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to ex
press the gratitude which 1 feci towards you for
the interest you have taken to relieve me in my
distress. In the year 1842 I contracted a heavy
cold, which finally settled on my lungs; in a few
months after, I commenced coughing and raising
offensive matter, which smelt very bad. Having
heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
coughs I tried a lew boxes of them, but they bad
not the least effect on me. I then called in the
best physicians in the place, who attended me a
few months, but without success; I then saw an ad
vertisement in one of the city papers of Wistar s
Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I purchased three
bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nassau streets,
but I could not perceive the least beneficial effect
from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in
; jury' tome. Shortly after using it, I commenced
raising blood in large quantities; I was taken down
sick and confiued to the house for three months,
’ during which time I lost my appetite and fell away
very last; I was then induced to consult Dr. Curtis
of New York, (one of the best physicians in the
city.) but be could do me no good. 1 again became
worse, and was confined to the bouse all last winter
and spring, and I gave up all hope of ever getting
any better, as I again raised blood and my cough
, was very severe, together with a pain in my
breast and under the shoulder blade. My friends
now gave up all hope of my recovering, and thought
every day was the last. About this time I heard
of your BALSAM OF LIVERWORT being good
for consumption, but I was like many others, and
was fearful that it might be a regular humbug; I
however finally consented to try it, as I thought it
could make me no worse. My brother then pur
chsed a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y., and -
commenced taking it, and by the time I had used
one bottle full I could sleep all night, and in the
morning I had an appetite for my breakfast. I still
keep on taking it and find great benefit from it—the
pain in my breast is entirely gone, and I raise no
more blood. Within the last two months I have
gained in weight six pounds and much in strength.
I would therefore, advise all who have any affec
tion of the Lungs or Liver to try' the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe
it to be the best remedy in existence for diseases
of the Lungs or Liver. Should any one doubt the
above statement relative to your valuable medicine,
let him call on me, and I will convince him of its
virtues. Yours, respectfully, DE REVERE.

GALVANIC RINGS AND
Magnetic Fluid.
CIA HIS remarkable invention, which has received
JL the almost universal approbation of the Medi
cal Profession of Great Britain, comprises an en
tirely new application of Galvanism., us a remedial
agent, by means of which the ordinary Galvanic !
Batteries, Electric and Magnetic Machines, Ac.,
are entirely dispensed with, and tiie mysterious
powers of Galvanism applied without any of the
objections which are inseparable from.the general j
mode now in use. The strong doses , and at Irreg
ular intervals,in which Galvanism is applied by the
Machines, has been pronounced after a fair and im
partial trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to
remedy this- radical defect, that this new applica
tion was projected, Which after unceasing.tod and
perseverance has been brought to its present state
ot perfection. The Galvanic Kings answer all the
purposes of the most expensive Machines, and in
many other respects are more safe and certain in
accomplishing the desired effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, are confidently recommended in
all disorders which arise fronv art' enfeebled or un
healthy state of the nervous or vital system , and“ tfeeM
complaints are among the most painful and univer
sal to which we are subject. They arise, without
exception, to one single cause—a derangement of
the Nervous system—and it was in these cases that
other “remedies” haring so often failed, a new
agent was greatly needed, which it is confidently:
believed, has been found in the proper and judi
cious application of Galvanism.
The Galvanic Rings have been used with entire
success in all eases of Rheumatism, ac ute or chronic,
applying to the head, face or limbs : Gout, Tic-
Duloreux, Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous
or Sick Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy,
Epilepsy, Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Ap-
Stiffness of Joints, Spinal Complaints, turn- \
bo go, Neuralgia, Nervovs Tremors, Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, Genera/ Debil
ity, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy, and
all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed Dys
pepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally
successful. Their extraordinary effects upon the
system must be witnessed tube believed, and as a
certain Preventive for the preceding oonqJoints
they are equally recommended. The Rings are of
different prices, being made of ail sizes, and of va
rious ornamental patterns, and can be worn by the
most delicate female without the slightest incon
venience. In fact the sensation is rather agreea
ble than otherwise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, Ac.
In some cases of a very severe character and of
long standing the power as applied by the Galvanic
Rings is not sufficient to arrest the progress of dis
ease and ultimately to restore health. The improv
ed modification in the Galvanic Belts, Bracelets,
fyc., entirely remedies this objection ; any degree
of pow er that is-required can readily be obtained,
and no complaint which the mysterious agent of
Galvanism can effect will fail to be permanently re
lieved. These articles are adapted to the waist, arms,
wrists, limbs, ancles, or any part of the body with
perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces, are
used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of
Nervous Deafness; and with almost uniform success
as a preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and
similar complaints.
CHRISTIE’S MAGNETIC FLUID.
Isfissued in connection yvith the Galvanic Rings,
and all their modifications. This composition has
been prbbouncedby the French Chemists to be
one ot the nibSt extraordinary discoveries of mod
ern science. II is to possess a remarkable
poyver of rendering the Nerves sensitive to Galvanic
action] by these means causing a circulation of the
influence afthg ssat of disease, and thus giving ra
pid and permanent relief. No other composition in
chemistry is known to produce the' same effect or
j to impart a-similar property to the nervous system
by means of ah Outward local application. The
Magnetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the
slightest injury, its application is agreeable, and it
is as harmless in its action as it is beneficial ih its
result. The combined ire in every way

DR. JOEL BRANHAM’S LIVER AND
DYSPEPTIC MEDICINE.
IN offering this valuable medicine to the people
of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis-‘
eases incident to a Southern climate, I do not claim ’
for it infallibility; neither do 1 say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and
Dyspepsia, I can confidently advise and recom
mend its use, from my personal observation and use
of the article in my own practice. This article is
favorably received wherever it has been used. I
am allowed to refer to Mr. Georg© Heard of Troup.
Mr. John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of
Cobb, Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Air. William D.
Terrell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of La
grange; to which a great number of names might
be added, who bear their testimony to its T - alue.—
Dr. Henry Branham lias used this medicine in his
own case, and has prescribed it to many others,
gives it as bis opinion, that it is one of the safest
and most valuable medicines that can be used in
imperfect digestion, liver complaints, constipation
and irregular state of the bowels. It is useful in
billious complaints, to persons recovering from bil
lions fevers, and in sick or nervous head-ache. To
pregnant women, who are subject to costiveness,
this medicine is well suited. In regulating the state
of the stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion,
It is particularly useful.
1 could append a long list of certificates, but for
bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi
cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle and
certain Cathartic, tonic'and sudorific.

Vegetable universal pills.
THE startling drawback on nearly all Medicinal
Agents has ever been that in their process of pur
gation and' purifiebtion; they have also Debilitated
the System. Hence Purgative Medicines have al
ways been regarded as at best but a Necessary
Evil; Patients resorting to them for the relief of
oue disease'at the expense of a/nMh?r. To obviate
this, Physicians have long sought for an Agent that
would at the same time
PURGE PURIFY AND STRENGTHEN.
But their efforts were nearly fruitless, anc£ they
had almost despaired of success when the labors ot
science and research, were rewarded by a discov
ery which fully realized the fondest desires of the
Medical Faculty, and which is justly regarded as
one of the most important Triumphs that Pharmacy
has ever achieved. This important desideratum is
named
Dr. Le Roy’s Vegetable Universal Pills-
Which Purify the Blood, and remove all corrupt
and vitiated humors, and unhealthy accumulations from
the body in a manner never before rivalled, and
which yet produce no weakness or lassitude wlkiG
ever, but on the contrary, tone the Stomach, and
invigorate the constitution during the progress of
their operation. Dr. Le Roy’s Pills, in fact, unite
those heretofore irreconcilable, but most desirable
qualities, Evacuation and Invirroration, for they are
at the same time a STRENGTHEN ING PURGA
TIVE, AND A PURIFYING TONIC.
The two paincipal ingredients in Dr. Le Roy’s
Pills are
WILD CHERRY & SARSAPARILLA.
So prepared that each promotes the beneficial ef
fect of the other, the former strengthening, while
the latter, through its union with various vegetable
ingredients, evacuates and purities; thus they
perinduce no torpidity or lassitude of the the Diges
tive Functions, and hence their operations are at
tended by no Re-action or Subsequent Costiveness.
Dr. Le Roy’s Pills arc the most active and search
ing Medicine in existence. They at once attack
the very root of Diseases, and their action is so
prompt that in an hour or two after they are taken,
the patient is aware of their good effects. They
not only operate on the Blood, but also on the chyle,
of which the Blood is formed, and this secures good
blood from the fountain head, moreover, they pro
duce neither nausea, griping or debility, and as a
family medicine they have no rival. Price 25 cts.
per box.
