Grand Jury Presentments— Georgia*
Oglethorpe County.
We, the Grant Jurors, cnostn and sworn
for tne April term of the Superior Court of
Oglethorpe county lor 1851, do find ana make
the following Presentments, viz:
We have, through our Committees, careful
ly examined the Books, &c , of the Clerk of
the Superior and Interior Courts, and find the
records kept in a neat and legible style, and
brought up to the present term ; and that the
Cteik has discharged his duty faithfully in
every respect. We have examined the Books
and Vouchers of the County Treasurer, and
find them to correspond in every particular
and find a balance in his hands of forty-eight
dollars and iitty-six and a quarter cents,
(S4B 56i j
We present the Roids, in portions of the
county, which have not been regularly work
ed, >n bad condition. We specially recom
mend to the Inferior Court the propriety of
having bias ed and removed, the rock in the
Lexington & Eiberton Road at Troublesome
Creek. Also, the propriety of letting out to
the lowest bidder, the building of a Bridge
over Dry Fork Creek, at thn plantation of Dr.
Glenn, in the Skull Shoal Road, leading from
Washington to Wright’s store; md that the
Inferior Court cause the said Road to be work
ed and made passable, it having been ne
gleeied for the last eighteen months. We
also present to the attention of the Inferior
Court, the condi ion of the Bridge across Dry
Fork Creek, on the line between Oglethorpe
and Wilkes, on the road leading from Simston
to Centreville. We consider this Bridge to
be in a very bad and dangerous condition,
caused by the late heavy and destructive
rain. We also present to the nodee of the
Inferior Courr, the condition of the Bridge
over Grove on the road leading from
Sandy Cross to C oudy Creek. The Bridge
is represented as being unusually narrow, and
having no hand railing, renders it exceeding
ly dangerous, especially to strangers passing
in the night. We would also call the atten
tion of tne Interior Court to thp present bad
condition of the Road leading from Lexing
ton to Greensboruugh.
From the best information we have been
enabled to obtain, a levy of five per cent, on
the State tax wiil be adequate to all the de
mands on the Poor School Fund. We there
fore recommend to the Inferior Court, the
propriety of making such levy on the State
tax.
We have examined the Jail, (by commit
tee,) and finding it unsafe, witn the exception
of tne dungeon, recommend to the Interior
Court, tne propriety of having made the ne
cessary repairs without delay.
We arc happy to say that there has been no
offence of a criminal nature, brought to our
no.ice during the present term.
In taking leave of his Honor Judge Baxter,
we tender him our thanks lor his strict atten
tion to the dut ?s pertaining to his dignified
elation, md the courtesy which he has ex
pended to thig body.
We also te. der our thanks to the Solicitor
General, Mr. Weems for the courtesy shown
to this body by him during the present term.
In conclusion, we request that the Clerk of
the Superior Co irt cause the foregoing to be
.published in the Augusta Chronicle % Sentinel
and Georgia Constitutionalist.

ffTBLISS’S COMPOUND COD LIVER
OIL CANDY.—Probably no one single article in
the materia medici has ever conferred so many
blessings on mankind as has Cod Liver Oil. But
a 1 persons cannot use the Oil, on account of its
disgusting flavor. This fact induced Mr. Bliss,
an experienced apothecary, of Springfield, Mass.,
to compound a candy which should retain all the
virtues of the oil, and be free from its offensive
taste and odor. This candy is one of the very
best remedies for aii pulmonary complaints ; but it
has its counterfeits, which must be shunned by the
purchaser. Cal for Bias's Candy anil receive no

MARSHALL’S MAGICAL PAIN
ERADICATOR.
Dalton, March 15, 1851.
Messrs. W. H. & J. Turpin —Gentlemen.—l
hope you will excuse the intrusion of these lew
lines, as I am not personally acquainted with you,
and besides am an entire stranger in your eit y
I am constrained, however, to trespass on your
kind indulgence, and say something in behalf of
“ Marshall’s Magical Pain Ekadicator.”
Such a medicine as this compound should be
widely known, and had I the gift of tongues and
the power, I would not hesitate to proclaim its
praises in the streets and on the house tops—-as it
is, I speak fearlessly to all and every one. My
case was indeed a painful one, aud 1 did despair
of ever getting cured, haring tried physicians and
nostrums till 1 have gotten a.most impoverished.
Rheumatism in my back is what I labored un er,
but thank God, by the application of your Pain
Eradicator, I have got entirely well, and perfectly
able to attend to my usual duties. If this public
acknowledgement is of any service to you in ex
tending the leputation and value of thL prepara
tion you are liberty to use it as you may. Hoping
you all the success it so richly deserves, I remain
most respectfully vours. THOS. DUNN.

ELECTRIC WASHING FLUID,
For washing in hard or soft water,
fI'IHIS is the only genuine article to be found
X in the world ; and possesses double the pow
er of any thing ever discovered tor washing
clothes, at a trifling expense, doing away with
vash boards at once. In fact, it seems to be the
long sought Phi osopher’s Stone, or universal sol
vent; seeming a magical preparation, ti§ opera
tion being of the most astonishing character. A
common sized wash’ng may be done with one gill
of this Flu.d, in bss than two hours. It softens
and removes the dirt, leaving the articles of the
mos* brilliant whiteness. It being as harmless in
its operations as pure water, and c<oihing will
wear raueli longer than when i übbed to pieces by
the common method of washing.
This Fluid is a powerful agent, to be used in all
cases wheie s.iap is required, particularly for
cleansing milk utensils, cleaning windows and
paint, scouring floors ; in short, it is beyond a pre
cedent, as its use is univers 4 in i be washing world.
