[ETIiUSS’S COMPOUND COD LIVER
OIL CANDY.—Probably no one siugle article in
the materia medica has ever conferred so many
blessings on mankind as has Cod Liver Oil. But
all persons cannot use the Oil, on account of its
disgusting flavor. This fact induced Mr. Bliss,
an experienced apothecary, of Springfield, Mass.,
to compound a candy which should retain all the
virtues of the oil, and be free from its offensive
taste and odor. This candy is one of the very
best remedies for all pulmonary complaints; but it
has its counterfeits, which must be shunned by the
purchaser. Cad for Bliss’s Candy and receive no
other.

ERADICATOR.
Dalton, March 15,1851.
, Messrs. W. H. & J. Turpin. —Gentlemen.—l
hope you will excuse the intrusion of these few
lines, as I am not personally acquainted with you,
and besides am an entire stranger in your city
I am constrained, however, to trespass on your
kind indulgence, and say some'hingin behaif of
“ Marshall’s Magical Pain Eradicator.”
Such a medicine as this compound should be
widely known, and had I the gift of tongues and
the power, I would not hesitate to proclaim its
praises in the streets aud on the house tops—as it
is, I speak fearlessly to all and every one. My
case was indeed a painful one, and 1 did despair
of ever getting cured, having tried physicians and
nostrums till 1 have gotten almost impoverished.
Rheumatism in my back is what I labored un er,
but thank God, by the application of your P?in
Eradicator, 1 have got entirely well, and perfectly
able to attend t<* my usual duties. If this public
acknowU dgement is of any service to you in ex

Augusta Market) May 2 F M,
COTTO *. —Ti.e market is still drooping and
depressed, and the only transaction of magnitude
that we heard of is the sale ot 250 bales low
middling at 8£ cents. There has been some scat
tering sales of fair at 9£, and good middling fair
at the same price. We quote extremes at_6£ to
95 cents.
CHARLESTON, May 2.— Cot'on —The ac
cou' ts by the Asia, which it will be recollected
reached us just prior to the date of our last publi
cation, produced a dec dedly unlavorable impres
sion on our market, and prices dropped 4 to §c. be
low ine point at which thev lulled r etore their
arrival, bringing Fair quality down to 11c , wnich
was the curi ent quotation at the close of the week.
Tne general tenor of these a- vices, to which may
be added the neavy excess over the receipts of
the previous year, and the desire manifested by
many of our holders to realize, produced a com
bination of cau.es, tendmg further to depress the
market, and ultimately to bring about a heavy
concession in favor ot buyers. The n arket open
ed on Friday—the first day of the present week—
with a good demand, produced principally b£ the
favorable overtures from sellers, and during the
day lully 1800 bales changed hands at rather
easier prices than were previously paid. This
partial yielding on the part of holders prompted
buyers to mike a decided demonstration on the
market on Saturday and Monday, which was in a
measure successful, and during these two days,
the sales, which amounted to some 2000 bales,
were made at still lower rates, Tuesday was rath
er a busy day, upwards of 15(K) bales having been
sold, and buyers cla med a further advantage.—
Rather an active demand prevailed during Wed
nesday, which resulted in the sale of nearly 2000
bales, and at the close of business on that day,
prices were reported even lower, approx mating
as nearly as prssible to the subjoined quotations,
which established a decline at £ cent thus dur ng
the week, viz : Inferior —a —; Ordinary to Hood
Ordinary a9; Middling to Good Middling 94 a
10; Middling Fair 104; and Fair and Fully Fair 10£
a . The market opened yesterday with the
Niagara’s accounts at hand, v.hch depressed the
market. The transactions during the day were
limited to 600 bales, made at an irregular decline
of 4 cents on the above quatatiou*,the transactions,
howevei, were too limited to establish a market,
and we must await more extended operations
The aggregate transactions this wi.-ek foot up
7924 bates, against tne receipt in the same time
of 59 >3 bales. The sales were as follaws, viz :
80 bales at 7; 91 at 7£; 2i6 at 7£; 186 at 7|; 258 at
8; 17 at 8J; 23 at 84; 8 at 8g; 160 at 8£; 46 a< Bj}; 138
at 8|; 449 at 9; 318 at 94; 77 at 9js;f>24 at 9j;115 at
9|: 330 at 9|; 72 at 9J; 1422 at 10; 200 at 10$; 77 at
10 3-16; 670 at 104; 270 at lOg; 668 at 10£; 40 at
at 11; 265 at 11$; 149 at 114; 51 at H§;
and 220 bales at U£c.
Bacon . —There has been a good demand for
Sides and Shoulders during the week, but tne
transactions have been light in consequence ot the
limited amount offering, and confined mostly to
parcels lo arrive. Prices have an improving ten
dency". Sides have been selling from 9$ to 9Jc.,
and Shoulders principally at 7£.
Freights. —The rate to Liverpool in the early
part of the week fluctuated at 4 to 9-32ds. for cot
ton in square bags; subsequently 5-16ths d. was re
alized, at whic' rate the market closed firm, and
with an upward tendency. A vessal is load
iDg for Havre, principally with Lumber. We
quote Cotton §c.; Rice $2 50 and nominal. To N.
York nominal at 50 cents per bale for Cotton and
#g per tierce lor Rice. To Boston 25 cts. per 100
lbs. for Cotton and $1 for Rice.
SAVANNAH, May I. Cotton.— With a fair
demand yesterday, the sales footed up 1014 bales,
at t ie following particulars : 107 at 9; 230 at 9|;
187 at 9£; 331 at 9|; 109 at9g; 33 at lOj and 17 *>t
11 cents. Prices continue very much unsettled.
SAVANNA April 30.
Per brig Augusta, for N. York—7oo bales Cot
ton, 31 casks Rice, 8 bales Rags, and 130 packages
Miize.
AILANTA, May I.— Cotton.-—' The transac
tions have been-mall. There has been a consid
erable decline in ail the markets since last week.
Both foreign and home markets are going down
and it is hard to tell any thing about it. It has
brought various prices during the week, but at
present the best article in our market will not
bring over B£c., and we quote extremes from 6 to
8£ cents.
GRIFFIN, May 1— Cotton— The article has
declined since our last report. Transactions are
very limited and the quantity offering very light.
We quote middling to middling fiir Bto B|c. We
consider the market decide<tly > /?uffjty.

electric washing fluid,
For washing in hard or soft water.
fIIIHIS is the only genuine article to be found
A in the world ; and possesses double the pow
• er of any thing ever discovered for washing
, clothes, at a trifling expense, doing away with
wash boards at once. In fact, it seems to be the
long sought Phi osopher’s Stone, or universal sol
vent ; seeming a magical preparation, its opera
tion being of the most astonishing character. A
common sized washing may be done with one gill
jof this Fluid, in less than two hours. It softens
and removes the dirt, leaving the articles of the
most brilliant whiteness. It being as harmless in
its operations as pure water, and clothing will
wear mueh longer than when i übbed to pieces by
the common method of washing.
Phis Fluid is a powerful agent, to be used in all
cases where soap is required, particular'y for
cleansing milk utensils, cleaning windows and
paint, scouring floors; in short, it is beyond a pre
cedent, as its use is universal in the washing world.
