COD LIVER
OIL CANDY.—Probably no one single article in
the materia medica has ever conferred so many
blessings on mankind as has Cod Liver Oil. But
ad persons cannot use the Oil, on account of its
disgusting flavor. This tact induced Mr. Bliss,
an experienced apothecary, of Spruigfield, Mass.,
to compound a caudy which should retain all the
virtuei of the oil, aud be free from its offensive
taste and odor. This candy is one of the very
best remedies for all pulmonary complaints ; but it
kasits counterfeits, which must be shunned by the
purchaser. Ca..l for Bass’s Candy and receive no
other.

South Carolina Convention.
Charleston, May 6, p. m.
Seventeen additional delegates took their
seats to-day.
A letter was read from the Hon. Langdon
Cheves, explaining his non-attendance, and
deprecating seperate State action.
Committee appointed to prepare Re
solutions and an Address, made their report.
They were made the special order for to-mor
row.
The Resolutions state that South Caroli
na cannot submit to wrongs without dishonor
and ruin, for that it is necessary to relieve
herself therefrom whether with or without the
co-operation of other states; that co-operation
is worth many sacrifices, but not the sacrifice
involved in submission; that the right of
secession is essential to th® sovereignty of the
states; that the denial ot that risht would
furnish the strongest cause for its exercise*
that the meeting look with confidence and
hope to the Conventien of the people to ex
ert the power of the State in defence of its
rights and at the most practicable period, and
the Legislature to adopt the most speedy and
effectual meas i res towards the same end.
Ihe Convention then adjourned to to-mor
row morning.

Augusta Market* May 7.
REMARKS. —Our tables this morning will be
found of interest to tho Merchant and Planter.—
By o tr export table it will be seen that the Ship
ments of Cotton to Great Britain have been 950,-
424 ba’es, against 688,873 bales last year, showing
an increase of 291,551 bales. The Exports to
France are 263,534, against 218,839—increase
44.695 bales. To other Fo’ei?n Ports the Ship
rnents show an increase of 68,445 bales, being 188,-
630 bales this year against 120,185 bales last year.
The Shipments to Coastwise Ports are 480,122
bales, against 591,887 last year, being a decease
of 111.765 bales. Ihe increase Shipments to all
ports are 262,926 bales.
The Receipts are still on the increase, being
2,071,941 bales, against 1,829,615 last year.
The stock on hat d at all the ports is gradually
decreasing, being 10.366 bales less than held at
the same period last year.
Os the growing crop, it is too early to make
remark. But this we can 6ay with salcty, that
the weather, so far, has been any thing but favo
rable to the Cotton Plant, the days and nights be
ing very cool.
C 0 [TON.—The last intelligence from Europe
per Niagara, has had a still further depressing ef
fect on our Market, and prices have given way
fully £ to 4 cent, particularly on the lower quali
ties. The sales during the week have been limi
ted, and a considerable portion of the Cotton sold
has been of low grade Tennessee, Middling’ quali
ties of which brought 8£ cents. The quantity of
Cotton offering is limited and holders show but lit
tle disposition to sell at present prices. On Mon
day and Tuesdiy there was a good enquiry for the
better grades with a slight improvement in prices.
In the present state of the market it is difficult to
give correct quotations, but to enab e those at a
distance to form an idea of ruling prices, we would
state that buyers seem disposed to operate at the
following rates:
Inferior and 0rdinary...........7 a 8

worth mote than per lb.”
HAVRE, April 17.—Our Cottou market has
presented more r- guiarity in the transactions du
ring the last week, without change in prices, the
daily sales averaging from 1000 to 1200 bales. La
ter accounts from Liverpool, just to hand, report
ing a. dull market, and |d. decline, are likely to
affect prices here. The receip's since Ist inst.,
reach 9,630 Dales; the sales 12,230 bales ; and the
stock is estimated at 93,000 bales. Holders are
generally ready sellers. In Rice nothing doing,

LIVERPOOL, April 17.— Colton.—' The late
accounts from America show the receipts at the
different ports to be still on the increase, now a
mounting to 151,000 bales in excess of the same
period of last year. These increasing receipts
appear, however, to have no change on the gene
ral opinion as to the probable amount of crop, es
timates ot which remain unchanged, being reck
oned as before at 2,200,000 bales. Our co.ton
market, influei ced in some measure by these ac
counts, and without encouragement from Man
chester, has again this week declined iu prices,
amounting to Jd. per lb. on all classes of American.
Fair Uplands are quoted at 7d. Mobile 7sd. and

ELECTRIC WASHING FLUID,
For washing in hard or soft water .
T3HIS is the oniy genuine article to be found
in the world ; and possesses double the pow
er of any thing ever discovered for washing
clothes, at a trifling expense, doing away with
wash boards at once. In fact, it seems to be the
lons* sought Phi osopher’s Stone, or universal sol
vent ; seeming a magical preparation, its opera
tion being of the most astonishing character. A
common sized washing may be done with one gill
of this Flu.d, in less than two hours. It softens
and removes the dirt, leaving the articles of the
raoit. brilliant whiteness. It being as harmless iu
its operations as pure water, aud clothing will
wear much longer than when tubbed to pieces by
the common method of washing.
This Fluid is a powerful agent, to be used in all
cases wheie soap is required, particular'y for
cleansing milk utensils, cleaning windows and
paint, scouring floors; in short, it is beyond a pre

Dr. Little:—Sir; Having used your King

head. I will cheerfully state the rtsult. In one. it
had extended pr tty much over tbe scalp. leaving
but little hair, with other ill effects, as inflamma

seemed to be progressing in the same way. To
cure the first, we ha/e tried almost everything,
even a Tar Plaster, wi hout success, when we be

am glad to say, have entirely cured both cases.
