PATENT MEDICINES.
DR. CHRISTIE’S
GALVANIC RIxNGS
AND
MAGNETIC FLUID.
THIS remarkaNe invention, which lias received the
almost universal approbation of the medical pro
fession of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap
plication of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of
which the ordinary Galvanic Ba’ teries, Electric and Mag
netic Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed with, and the
mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any
of the objections which are inseperable from the peue
ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu
i lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma
chines, has been pronounced, af.er a fair and impartial
trial, to be decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy
this radical defect, that this new application was pro
jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has
been brought to its present State of perfection. The
Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most
expensive Machines, and in many other respects are
more sake and certain in accomplishing the desired
effect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Mag netic Fluid, a e confidently recommended in all
D BORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN
HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and
these complaints are among the most painful and uni
versal to which we are subject. They arise, withoutex
-1 ception, from one simple cause—a derangement of the
Nervous system—audit was in these cases that other
“ remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was
greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has
been found in the proper and judicious application of
I Galvanism.
! The Galvanic Rings have been used with entiresue- 1
cess in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap
plying to the head, face or limbs; Gout, Tic-Doloreux,
I Toothache. Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick
Headache, Indigestion. Paralyses. Palsy, Epilepsy,
| Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexy,
j Stiffness . f Joints. Spinal Complaints, Kumbago, j
Neuralgia. Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the
I Head. Pains in the Chest and Side. General Debih- I
: tv, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy,
i and alt. Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed
' Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of i
i the digestive organs, they have been found equally sue- ■
! cessful. Their extraordinary effects upon the system i
must be witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre- '
j ventive for the preceding complaints they are equal- I
ly recommended. The Rings are of different prices, |
being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat- |
■ terns, and can be worn by the inostdelicale female without j
1 the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is
j rather agreeable than otharwise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, «&c.
In some cases of a very severe character and of long
1 standing, the power as applied hy the Galvanic Rings j
is notsufficient to arrestthe progress of disease an«l ulti- |
; mately to restore health. The improved modification in |
| the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, tec., entirely reme- j
die« this objection ; any degree of power that is required |
; can readily be obtained, and no complaint which the
mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to he i
permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the
: waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihe body I
j with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces j
are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
1 affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Ner
j vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a
j preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar
| complaints.
Christie’s Magnetic Fluid.-
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and i
i all their modifications. Tins composition has been pro
j nouuced by the French Chemists to be one of the most
I extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is be
lieved to possess a remarkable power of renderihg the
1 Nerves sedsitive to Galvadic actiou, by these means
; causing a circulation or the influence at the seat of dis
ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No
other composition in chemistry is known to produce the
same effector to impart a similar properly to the nervous
system by means of an outward local application. The
i Magiietic Fluid contains nothing capaide of theslight
est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless
| in its action as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana-
I tions and directions accompany it. The combined in
ventions are in every way perfectly harmless; they are
; at price* within reach of all. and the discoverer only re
quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy
and permanent benefit,
Chrihtie’s Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ters.
These articles form another valuable application of
the mvsterious influence of Galvanism. They are an
important adjunct to the genuine Galvaoic Rmosand
their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but
h iving this advantage of more local applica'ion. They
are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in
the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in
all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases
of Pain and Weakness in thfl Chest or Back, Fain in the
Side, in Asthma ic Affections, and in Weakness or Op
pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com
plaints; their effects arc of the most decided character,
and they have often been used with complete success.
They are also of the greatest advantage in Pains and
Weakness of the Breast, and arc highly recommended j
for many of those complaints to which females are
especially liable.' As an effectual means for Strengthen
ing tlic system when debilitated with disease or other
causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest
generally the Galvanic Strengthening Plaster will be
found of great and pormaneniad vantage. Ilia few words,
it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation
with the important addition of the Galvanic influence,
which is ncirherimpaired or exhausted, wliilcthe action
continues. These articles will be found entirely' free
from those objections which area constantsourceofcom
plaint with the ordinary Plastersin common use,
(ETThe great celebrity and success of these articles,

persons. To provide against imposition, Dr. Christie

HOW AWFULLY CULPABLE^
TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery, N. Y.
those be who have Pulmonary Consumption, ;
; -LTM. or any affection of the Lungs. Liver or Chest,
' after reading he following letter, just received from a
most respectable inhabitant of Westchester County
New York.
Tarry-town, Aug. 9, 1844.
Dear Doctor—lt is difficult to find words to express the
gratitude w hich I feel towards you for the interest you |
I have taken to relieve me in my distress. In the s'ear !
1342 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on j
my lungs; in a few months after I commenced coughing !
i and raising offensive matter, which smell very bad. I
Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a i
cough 1 tried a few boxes of them, but they had not the i
f least effect on me. I then called in the best physician in the :
I place, whoa tended me a few’months, but without su ; j
i cess; I then saw au advertisement in one of the ci:y i
| papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which 1
purchased three bottles, at thecorner of Fulton and Nas
sau streets, but I could not perceive the least'beneficial
i effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in
-1 jury to me. Shortly after using it I commenced raising
i blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and
1 confined to the house for three months, during which
j time I lost my appetiie and fell away very fast; 1 was j
| then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of
| the best physicians in the city,) hut he could do me no i
good. I again become worse, and was confined to the :
house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of )
ever getting any better, as I again raised blood and my j
cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast j
and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up j
all hopeof my recovering, and thought every day was ;
the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF [
I iHVERWORT being good fur consumption , but I was ;
| like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regu- j
I lar humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I !
j thought it could make me no worse. My brother thm i
i purchased a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. Y.. and I com- j
j menced taking it, and by the time I had used one bottle |
1 full I could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an |
: appetite for my breakfast. Istill keep on taking it and j
find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast is entire- i
ly gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two
monthsl have gained in weight six pounds and much in
sfreng h. I would therefore advise all who have any
affec ion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to
bethe best remedy iu existence for diseases of the Lungs
or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement re
lative to your valuable medicine, let him call ou me, and
[ I will convince them of its virtue,
Yoursrespectfully, C, DE REVERE.
Beware of counterfeits, the only genuine has an engra
ved label (over the outside wrapper of each bottle) with
the signature of Dr. GUIIDON J. LEEHS attached.

HIGHLY CONCEN
TRATED COMPOUND FLUID
EXTRACT OF SARSAPARILLA.
THIS preparation of Sarsaparrilia, is in most cases,
found to be preferable tfi the Syrupe, on account
of not creating acidity of the Stomach, which the sac
charine matter contained in the Syrup, is apt to do,
where its use has been long continued. The Fluid Ex
tract effectually obviates this difficulty; *nd njay be used
for any length of time, with increased benefit.

COTTON PRESS, G INS, &-c.
fll L LOCK’S
PROGRESSIVE j’OWER COTTON
THIS Machine is now offered to the public as
tfie most durable, the most convenient, th«
most powerful, (and all thing* considered,) th«
cheajwst and best Cotton Packing Press in tha
World.
This Press has now been in use four year* —sev-
eral hundreds of them are in successful operation.
In one that has been in use about two vean« t
there has been packed, over five thousand Bales of
Cotton ! anti it works belter (if possible) now, than
when first pul up. Notone dollar has been ex
pended on it in repairs—nor ever w ill be, if wall
used.
All those persons w ho have fried them, have de
cided to keep them their life tune, and then hand
them down to their children to the third and fourth
generations. Not an individual that ha* Been them
in use but what pronounces them "just the thing.**
1 challenge the world to disprove these state
ments. Now, can as much be said of any other
Machine ever made? And yet Igo still further;
when required, I will put up the Press on the plan
tation, and if it does not answer the purpose, will
make no charge.
And again—being well aware that the planters
have but little confidence in new things , from the
* fact that nine out of ten are Yankee tricks,** in
| tended to deceive, I have been to the trouble and
i expense to fit up an establishment in Macon, with
i several Presses, for re-packing Round Rales into
Square, and to show to the planters that the Press is
just the thing they want. These Presses are now,
and will he kept in daily use, and open to inspec
tion. Now, therefore, to induce the planter to
make an examination, i give below a certificate,
signed by a few of the many who have very kindly
otlered me their names, since 1 started my Presses
in Macon.
To prevent bad work, and all sort of meddling
or tampering with the Machines, 1 have them ail
made under my own direction, and sold at oneprice.
All those wishing to give them a trial, will please
give their names to my Agents who call upon them,
j or send them to the Commission House, where
they wish to go for the Machine, in order that the
Agent may be prepared for them, otherwise they
may he delayed in getting a .Machine when it is
j wanted.

DR. JO EL BRANHAM’S
LIVER AND DYSPEPTIC
MEDICINE,
IN offering this valuable medicine to the people
of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many cfis
eases incident to a southern climate, I do not claim
j for it infalibility; neither do I say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Eiver Affections and Dys
pepsia, I can confidently advise and recommend its
use, from my personal observation and use of the
article in my own practice. This article is favora
bly received wherever it has been used. lam al
lowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup, Mr.
John Warren of Columbus, ]Rr. McKaffeeofCobb,
Mr. Asbtiry Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Ter
rell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of Lagrange;
to which a great number of names might be added,
who bear their testimony toils value. Dr. Henry
Branham has used this medicine in his own case,
and has prescribed it to many others, gives it a* hi*
opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valua
ble medicines that can be used in imperfect diges
tion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular
state of the bowels. It is useful in bilious com
plaints, to persons recovering from bilious fevers,
and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant
women, w ho are. subject to costiveness, this
cine is well suited. In regulating the state of the
stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it ip
I particularly useful.
I could append a long list of certificates, but for
bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi-
I cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle
and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific.
