PATENT MEDICINES.
DR. CHRISTIE’S
GALVANIC RINGS
AND
MAGNETIC FLUID.
THIS remarkable invention, which has received the
almost universal approbation of the medical pro
fession of Great Britain, comprises an entirelv new ap
plication of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, iry means of
which the ordinary Gaivanic Haiteries, Electric and Mag
netic Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed w ith, and the
mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any
ol the objections which are inseparable from the gene
ral mode now in use. The strong doses, and at irregu
lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma
chines, has been pronounced, as era fair and impartial
trial, tobe decidedly injurious, and if was to remedy
this radical defect, that this new application was pro
jected, which after unceasing toil and perseverance, has
been brought to its present state of perfection. The 1
Galvanic Rings answer all the purposes of the most
expensive Machines, and in many other respects are
more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired j
effect.
The Galvanic Rings, vr«°d in connection with the I
Mimetic Fluid, aie confidently recommended in all j
D SORDERS WHICH A RISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN
HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and
these complaints are among the most painful and uni- j
versa! to which we are subject. They arise, witllout-ex
ceplion, from one simple cause—a derangement of the
Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other
“ remedies” having so often failed, a new ageut was
greatly needed, which it is confidently believed, has
been found in the proper and judicious application of
Galvanism.
The Galvanic Rings have been used with ens ire suc
cess in all cases of Rheumatism, acute or chronic, ap
plying to the head, face or limbs -• Gout, Tic-Doloreux,
Toothache, Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous oh Hick
Headache, Indigestion, Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy,
Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexy,
Stiffness uF Joints. Spinas. Complaints, Kumbaoo,
Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the
Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debili
ty, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy,
and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed
Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc
cessful, Their extraordinary effects upon the system ,
mu.-t he witnessed to be believed, and as a certain pre
ventive for the preceding complaints they are equal- ,
ly recommended. The Rings are of different prices,
being-made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat- i
terns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without
tiie slierhtest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is
r-ither agreeable than otliarw ise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bauds,
Garters, Necklaces, Arc.
In some cases of a very severe character and of long
standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings
is not suificient to arrest thf progress of disease and ulti
mately to restore health. Tlie improved modification in i
the Galvan c Belts, Bracelets, &c., entirely reme
dies tills objection ; any degree of power that is required
can readily he obtained, and no complaint which the
mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail tobe j
permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the
waist, anus, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of iiie body
with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces 1
are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or
affections of the throat generally ; also in cases of Ner
vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success as a
preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, aud similar
complaints.
Christie's Jlajnietic Fluid.
Is issued in connection w ith the Galvanic Rings, and
all their modifications. This composition had been pro
nounced by the French Chemists to he oue of the most
extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is Re
lieved to possess a remarkable power of renderirg the
Nerves seiisitive to Galvaihc actioii, by these means
causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of dis- i
ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No
othercoinposirion in chemistry is known to produce the
same effector to impart a similar property to the nervous
system by means of an outward local application. The
M aghetic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slight
est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless
in its action as ii is beneficial in its result. Full explana
tions and directions accompany it. The combined in
ventions are in every wav perfectly harmless; they are
at prices within reach of all, and ti e discoverer only re
quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising efficacy
and permanent benefit.
Christie's Galvanic Strengthening Plas
ters.
These articles form another valuable application of
tiie mysterious influence of Galvan ism. They are an
important adjunct to the genuine Galvahic Riiigs and
their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but
ha vine this advantage of more local application. They j
are confidently recommended as a valuable addition in j
the specify cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic ; in
: :J! nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases
1 of Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the |
I Side, in Asthmatic Affections, and in Weakness or Op- |
I pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com
i plaints; their effects are of the most decided character,
I i,ud they have often been used with complete success.
! They aie also of the greatest advantage in Pains and
I Weakness of the Breast, anil wre highly recommended :
for many of those complaints to which females are
! p-pccially liable. As an effectual means for Strengthen
ing the system when debilitated with disease or other '
causes; sis a certain aid in Constitution** Weakness, as a ;
Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest ;
general!v the Galvanic Strengtl ening Plaster will be
i son nd of great and pennanentad vantage. Ina few words, !
it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation
with the important addition of the Galvanic influence,
which is neither impaired er exhausted, whilethe action (
continues. These articles will be found entirely free ,
from those objections which are a constant source of com
plaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use. j
X_TTlie great celebrity and success of these articles,
have caused them lobe counterfeited by unprincipled
persons. To provide against imposition, Dr. Christie
has but one authorized agent in each city of the Union.

HOW AWFULLY CULPABLE,
TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
I DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery, Y.
MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consumption,
or any affection of the Lungs, Liver or Chest,
after reading ihe following letter, just received from a
nu st respectable inhabitant of Westchester County
New York.
Tarrytown, Aug. 0, 1 Q 44.
Dear Doctor—Tl is difficult to find words to express the
gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you
have taken to relieve me in my distress. In the year '
1342 1 contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on j
my lungs; in a few months after I commenced coughing j
and raising offensive matter, which smelt very bad. 1
Having heard that Sherman's Lozenges were good for a
cough I tried n few boxes of them, but they had not the
least etfeet on me. 1 then called in the best physician in the
place, who attended me a few months, but without sue
cess ; I then saw an advertisement in one of the city
papersof W istar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I
purchased three bottles, at the corner of Fulton and Nas
sau streets, hut I could not perceive tlie least beneficial
i effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in
jury to hid. Shortly after using it 1 commenced raising
blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and
confined to the house for three months, during which
1 time I lost my appetite and fell away very fast; I was
j then Induced to coasult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of
j the best physicians in the city,) but he could do me no
good. 1 again become worse, and was confined to the |
j house all last winter and spring, and I gave, up all hope of
| ever getting any better, a- I again raised blood aud my
i cough was very severe, together w ith a pain in ray breast
; aud under the shoulder blade. Mv friends now gave up
all hope of my recovering, and thought every day was ;
the last. About this time i heard of your BALSAM OP j
LIVERWORT being good fur consumption, hut I was j
like many others, and was fearful that it might be a regu
lar humbug; ! however finally consented to try it, as I
thought it could make me no worse. My brother tlu n
purchased a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. V.. and I com
menced taking it, and by the time 1 had used one bottle
: full 1 could sleep all uig)it, and in the morning I bad an
appetite for my breakfast. 1 still keep on taking it and
find groat benefit from If —the pain in mv breast is entire
ly gone, and f raise no more blood. Within the last two
months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in
streug h. 1 would therefore advise all who have any
affect ion of the Ludrs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
; Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to
j bethe best remedy in existence for diseases of the Lanes
i or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement re
lative to your valuable medicine, let him call on me, and
1 will convince them of its virtue.
Yours respectfully, C. DE REVERE.

EXTRACT OF SARSAPARILLA.
THIS preparation of Sarsaparnlla, is in most cases,
found to he preferable to the Syrups, on account
of not creating acidity of the Stomach, which the sac
charine, matter contained in the Syrup, is apt to do,
where its use has been long continued. The Fluid Ex
tract effectually obviates this difficulty; and may be used
for any length of time, with increased benefit.

LIVER AND DYSPEPTIC
MEDICINE.
IN offering this valuable medicine to the people
of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis
i eases incident to a southern climate, 1 do not claim
for it infalibility; neither do I say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dys
-1 pepsia, I can confidently advise and recommend its
use, from ray personal observation and use of the
j article in my own practice. This article is favora
| bly received w herever it has been used. lam al
j lowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup, Mr. .
j John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKaffee of Cobb,
Mr. Anbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Ter
rell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of
to which a great number of names might he added,
who hear their testimony to its value. Dr. Henry
Branham has used this medicine in his own case,
and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his
opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valua
ble medicines that can be used in imperfect diges
tion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular
state of the bowels. It is useful in bilious com
plaints, to persons recovering from bilious fevers,
and in sick or nervous bead-ache. To pregnant
women, who are subject to costiveness, this rnedi
i cine is well suited. In regulating the state of the
stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is
particularly useful.
I could append a long list of certificates, but for
bear, preferring to rely on the virtues of the medi
cine ’to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle
and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific.
