PATENT MEDICINES.
I>R. CHRISTIE’S
GALVANIC RINGS
AND
M A G N E TIC F L HID.
rgnms remarkable invention, which has received ihe
■ JL almost universal appiobation of the medical pro
! fe.s.-ion of Great Britain, comprises an entirely new ap
i plication of Galvanism, as a remedial agent, by means of
I v hich the ordinary Galvanic Ba teries, Electric and Mag
! uetic Machines, &c., are entirely dispensed with, and the
• mysterious powers of Galvanism applied without any
■ of the objections which are inseperable from the Gene
ral mode now in use. The strouir doses, and at irregu
lar intervals, in which Galvanism is applied by the Ma
chines, lias been pronounced, as cr a fair and impartial
trial, tobe decidedly injurious, and it was to remedy
; this radical defect, that this new application was pro
jected, which after unceasing toil ami perseverance, has
been brought to its present state of perlection. The
Galvanic Bings answer all the purposes of the most
1 expensive Machines, and in many other respects are
more safe and certain in accomplishing the desired
efl'ect.
The Galvanic Rings, used in connection with the
Magnetic Fluid, aie confidently recommended in all
D SORDERS WHICH ARISE FROM AN ENFEEBLED OR UN
HEATHY STATE OF THE NERVOUS OR VITAL SYSTEM, and
these complaints are among the most painful and uni
versal to which we are subject. They arise, without ex
ception, from one simple cause—a derangement of the
Nervous system—and it was in these cases that other
“ remedies” having so often failed, a new agent was
greatly needed, which it is confidently beliexed, has
been found in the proper and judicious application of
Galvanism.
The G alvanic Rings have been used with entire suc
cess in all cases of Rheum atism, acute or chronic, ap
plying to.the head, face or limbs ; (Jolt, Tic-I)olorf,ux,
I TooTrtXcHE. Bronchitis, Vertigo, Nervous or Sick
, Headache, Indigestion. Paralyses, Palsy, Epilepsy,
j Fits, Cramp, Palpitation of the Heart, Appoplexy,
' Stiffness f Joints, Spinal Complaints, Kumbago,
i Neuralgia, Nervous Tremors, Dizziness of the
I Head, Pains in the Chest and Side, General Debili
: tv, Deficiency of Nervous and Physical Energy,
and all Nervous Disorders. In cases of confirmed
Dyspepsia, which is simply a nervous derangement, of
the digestive organs, they have been found equally suc
' cessfnl. Their extraordinary effects upon the system
must he witnessed (o be believed, and as a certain pre
ventive fur the preceding complaints they are equal
ly recommended. The Bings are of different prices,
being made of all sizes, and of various ornamental pat
terns, and can be worn by the most delicate female without
the slightest inconvenience. In fact the sensation is
rather agreeable than otherwise.
The Galvanic Belts, Bracelets, Bands,
Garters, Necklaces, Arc.
In some cases of a very severe character and of long
standing, the power as applied by the Galvanic Rings
is not sufficient to arre-1 the progress of disease and ulli
nmtely to restore health. The improved modification in
1 the Galvan.c Belts, Bracelets, &c., entirely reme
dies tliisobjectiou ; any degree of power that is required
can readily he obtained, and no complaint which the
mysterious agent of Galvanism can effect will fail to be
permanently relieved. These articles are adapted to the ;
: waist, arms, wrists, limbs, ancles or any part of ihe body
1 with perfect convenience. The Galvanic Necklaces
! are used with greater benefit in cases of Bronchitis or ;
! affections of the throat generally; also in eases of Ner
vous Deafness; and with almost uniform success us a .
preventive for Apoplexy, Epileptic Fits, and similar
| complaints.
Christie’s Magnetic Fluid.
Is issued in connection with the Galvanic Rings, and
all their modifications. This composition has been pro
nounced by the French Chemists to be one ofthe most j
extraordinary discoveries of modern science. It is he
-1 lieved to possess a remarkable power of renderiiig the
Nerves seiisitivf, to Galvahic actiou, by these means
causing a circulation of the influence at the seat of dis- ;
ease, and thus giving rapid and permanent relief. No ■
other composition in chemistry is known to produce the
same effect or to impart a similar property to the nervous
system by means of an outward local application. The ;
Magiietic Fluid contains nothing capable of the slight- j
j est injury, its application is agreeable, and it is harmless
1 in itsaction as it is beneficial in its result. Full explana
i tions and directions accompany it. The combined in
ventions are, in every way perfectly harmless; they arc
i at prices within reach of all, and the discoverer only re
quests a fair trial, as a test of their surprising ellicacy j
and permanent benefit,
Christie’s Galvanic Strengthening Pias
ters.
These articles form another v aluable application of 1
the mysterious influence of Galvanism. They are an
important adjunct to the genuine Galvahic Rincsand
their modifications, acting upon the same principle, but
hiving this advantage of more local application. They
I are confidently recommended us a valuable addition in
the speedy cure of Rheumatism, acute or chronic; in
all nervous complaints, and as a positive remedy in cases
of Pain and Weakness in the Chest or Back, Pain in the
i Side, in Asthma'ic Affections, and in Weakness or Op
! pression of the Pulmonary Organs. In Spinal Com
i plaints; their effects are ofthe most decided character,
and they have often been used with complete success,
i They arc also of the greatest advantage in Pains and
Weakness of the Breast, and are highly recommended
i for many of those complaints to which lemales are
1 especially liable. As an effectual means for I'trengthen
, ing the system when debilitated with disease or other
causes; as a certain aid in Constitutional Weakness, as a
Preventive for Colds and in all affections of the Chest
generally the Galvanic Strengthening Plaster wili be
j found of great and permanentad vantage. Ina few words,
; it embraces all the virtues of the best tonic preparation
with the important addition of the Galvanic influence,
i which is neither impaired *r exhausted, while the action
continues. These articles will be found entirely free
from those objections which are a coustantsource of com
plaint with the ordinary Plasters in common use.
JZTTIie great celebrity and success of these articles,
! have caused them to be counterfeited by unprincipled

II O W A WFULLY CULP A JILL,
TO NEGLECT USING THE GENUINE
; DR. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVERWORT.
375 Bowery, N. V.
MUST those be who have Pulmonary Consumption,
or any affection of the Lungs. Liver or Chest,
after reading ihe following letter, just received from a
nr st respectable inhabitant ot‘ Westchester County
New York.
Tarrytown, Aug. 9, 1 Q 44.
Dear Doctor —It is difficult to find words to eXpre ss the
gratitude which I feel towards you for the interest you
have tak'-n to relieve me in my distress. In the year
1842 I contracted a heavy cold, which finally settled on
my lungs; in a few months after I commenced coughing
and raising offensive matter, which smelt very had.
Having heard that Sherman’s Lozenges were good for a
cough I tried a few boxes of them, but they hud not the
least effect on me. f then called in the best physician in the
place, who a tended me a few months, but without sue.
| cess; I then saw an advertisement in one of the cily
i papers of Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, of which I
I purchased three bottles, at thecorner of Fulton and Nas
sau streets, but I could not perceive tie least beneficial
! effect from it, on the contrary I think it was a great in
! jury to me. Shortly after using it 1 commenced raising
blood in large quantities; I was taken down sick and
■ confined to the house for three months, during which
time I lost my appetiie and fell away very fast; I was
then induced to consult Dr. Curtis of New York, (one of
: the best physicians in the city.) but he could do me no
good. I again become worse, and was confined to the
j house all last winter and spring, and I gave up all hope of
i over getting any better, as I again raised blood and my
; cough was very severe, together with a pain in my breast
' and under the shoulder blade. My friends now gave up
: all hopeof my recovering, and thought every day was
i the last. About this time I heard of your BALSAM OF
| LIVERWORT being good for consumption , but I was
j like many others, arid was fearful that it might be a regu
lar humbug; I however finally consented to try it, as I
i thought it could make me no worse. My brother th< n
purchased a bottle of it at 375 Bowery, N. V. and I com
menced taking it, and by the lim • 1 had used one bottle
j full 1 could sleep all night, and in the morning I had an
| appetite for my breakfast. I still keep on taking it and
find great benefit from it—the pain in my breast isentire
ly gone, and I raise no more blood. Within the last two
i months I have gained in weight six pounds and much in
streng h. 1 would therefore advise all who have any
aflec: ion of the Lungs or Liver to try the Genuine Dr.
Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort, for I truly believe it to
bethe best remedy iu existence for diseases of the Lungs
or Liver. Should any one doubt the above statement re
lative to your valuable medicine, let bun call on me, and
1 will convince them of its virtue.
Yours respectfully, C. DE REVERE.

veil label (over tfi“ outside wrapper of each bottle) with

TRATED COMPOUND FLUID
EXTRACT OF SARSAPARILLA.
THIS preparation of Sarsaparrilla, is in most cases,
found to he preferable to the Syrups, on account
of not creating acidity of the Stomach, which the sac
charine matter contained in the Syrup, is apt to do,
where its use has been long continued. The Fluid Ex
tract effectually obviates this difficulty; and may be used
for any length of time,, with increased benefit.

COTTON PRESS, GINS, &.c.
! = BULLOCK’S
PROGRESSIVE^POWERJOTTON
THIS Machine is now offered to the public an
tlie most durable, the most convenient, the
must powerful, (and all things considered,) thj
cheapest and best Cotton Fucking Frees m lint
11 arid.
This Press has now been in use four years—sev
eral hundreds of them are in successful operation.
In one that has been in use about two years,
there has been packed, over Jive thousand Buies of
Cotton ! and it works better (if possible) now. than
when first put up. Not one dollar has been ex
pended on it in repairs—nor ever will be, if well
used.
All those persons w ho have fried them, have de
cided to keep them their lije time, and then band
them down lo their children to the third undJourlh
generations. Not an individual that has seen them
in use but what pronounces them "Just the thing.’*
1 challenge the world to disprove these state
ments. Now, can as much be said of any other
Machine ever nuide? And yet Igo still further ;
when required, I will put up the Press on the plan
tation, and if it does not answer the purpose, will
make no charge.
And again—being well aware that the planters
have hut little confidence in new things, from the
fact that nine out of ten are *‘ Yankee tricks,** in
tended to deceive, I have been to the trouble and
expense to fit up an establishment in Macon, with
several Presses, for re-packing Round Rales into
Square, and to show to the planters that the Press is
just rtie thing they want. These Presses are now,
and will be ktpl in daily use, and open to inspec
tion. Now, therefore, to induce the planter lo
make an examination, I give below a certificate,
signed hy a Jew of the many who have very kindly
j offered me their names, since I started my Presses
I in Macon.
To prevent bad work, and all sort of meddling
; or tampering with the Machines, I have them all
made under my own directum, and sold at one price.
All those wishing to give them a trial, will please
j give their names to my Agents who call upon them,
, or send them to the Commission House, where
they wish to go lor the Machine, in order that the
Agent may be prepared for them, otherwise they
may be delayed in getting a Machine when it is
wanted.

DR. JOEL BRANHAM’S
LIVER AND DYSPEPTIC
MEDICINE.
IN offering this valuable medicine to the people
of Georgia, for the relief and cure of many dis
-1 eases incident to a southern climate, Ido not claim
for it infalibility; neither do 1 say it will cure all
diseases. But in Chronic Liver Affections and Dys
pepsia, I can confidently advise and recommend its
use, from my personal observation and use of the
article in my own practice. This article is favora
bly received wherever it has been used. lam al
lowed to refer to Mr. George Heard of Troup, Mr.
John Warren of Columbus, Mr. McKatfee of Cobb,
Mr. Asbury Hull of Athens, Mr. William D. Ter
rell of Putnam, Rev. John E. Dawson of Lagrange;
to which a great number of names might be added,
who bear their testimony to its value. Dr. Henry
Branham has used this medicine in his own case,
and has prescribed it to many others, gives it as his
opinion, that it is one of the safest and most valua
ble medicines that can be used in imperfect diges
tion, liver complaints, constipation and irregular
state of the bowels. It is useful in bilious com
plaints, to persons recovering from bilious fevers,
and in sick or nervous head-ache. To pregnant
women, who are subject to costiveness, this medi
cine is well suited. In regulating the state of the
stomach and bowels, and promoting digestion, it is
particularly useful.
1 could append a long list of certificates, but for
bear, prefering to rely on the virtues of the medi
cine to sustain itself. The medicine is a gentle
and certain cathartic, tonic and sudorific.
