A REAL BLESSING TO MOTHERS.
n. Wm. Evans’ Celebrated Soothing Syrup,
fob Children Cutting their Teeth.
This infallible remedy has preserved hundreds of
•hildren, when thought past recovery, from con
vulsions. As soon as the Syrup is rubbed on the
rums, the child will recover. This preparation is
io innocent, so efficacious, and so pleasant that no
•hild will refuse to let its gums be rubbed with it.
,Vhen infants are at the age of four months, though
here is no appearance of teeth, one bottle of the
lyrup should be used on the gums to open the
lores. Parents should never be without the Syrup
n the nursery where there arc young children ; for
If a child wakes in the night with pain in the
pirns, the Syrup immediately gives ease by open
ng tho pores and healing the gums ; thereby pre
venting convulsions, fevers, Stc.

GREAT CENTRAL & MAIL UOUTe,
DAILY SOUTH,
Via. the Chesapeake Bay Steam Boats and the
Portsmouth and Roanoke Rail Road
By an arrangement entered into between the
Portsmouth and Roanoke Rail Road Company, and
the .Maryland and Virginia Steam Boat Company,
there will be, on and after the Ist day of April,
1839,
A DAILY MAIL AND PASSENGER LINE
between Baltimore and Weldon, N. C., (at which
latter place commences the Wilmington and Halifax
Railroad Line, running daily to Charleston, S. C.,)
through between Baltimore and Weldon, (by
Steamboat 180 miles, and Railroad 80 miles,)
in twenty-one hours daily —being several hours less
time, and at much less expense than by any other
route —with but one change of baggage —without
the loss of one moment’s sleep, and without travel
ling by Railroad after dark.
Os the safety of the Bay Line of Steamboats, it
will be sufficient to satisfy the public to state the
remarkable fact, that in twenty-two years running
neither life nor limb has been lost.
The PORTSMOUTH S, ROANOKE RAILROAD
is now in good order —has none but splendid new
eight wheel Passenger Cars, to which no burthen
cars are to be attached; and that Company pledges
itself, that if faithful agents, careful and expe
rienced engineers, acting under constant supervi
sion, can make this route acceptable to the public,
then it shall be so.

MR. FALL—It affords me pleasure to bear tes
timony to your skillful and efficient treat
ment in the case of Mrs. Alary Whaley of this
county, who was violently afflicted with Dropsy,
it was my opinion, and 1 know that her friends
wore apprehensive, that she could live hut a short
time. 1 now believe her to ho free from disease,
and restored to her family and friends.
In high esteem, Sic.

My opinion fully accords with the above senti
ments.
JESSE B. BATTLE.
For some years past 1 have been constantly in a
bad state of health. The best medical assistance
that we could get was employed, but seemed un
availing. Thus my inward disease going on getting
worse daily, I fell into dropsical swelling, besides
my other heavy affliction. All this time much was
done to relieve and save me. Medicine, travelling
and all else that gave any promise, was tried, hut
tried in vain ; and 1 seemed to be only oue step from
the grave. In this awful and critical state Doctor
Fall found me, to all human appearance, hopeless;
but he witli his medicine, and on his own plan, so
managed that soon all my discaics vanished, and I
now believe my health to be good, and myself
nearly restored to usual strength and vigor.
I desire by this public exhibition of my case and
my recovery therefrom, to declare to the world my
conviction of tlie superior excellence of the treat
ment ol Dr. Fall in dropsies; because other Doctors
tried to cure me before lie tried, hut done me no
good. I i Iso desire it may be a means to induce
medical men to obtain a knowledge from Dr. Fall
how to relieve other poor afflicted sufferers, who
may be in as hopeless a case as I have been, seeing
he lias taken it upon himself to diffuse a knowledge
of His skill. MARY WHALEY.
We, whose names follow, testify that tlie dis
eased state of Mrs. Whaley is moderately repre
sented above ; and that the skill and management
ol Dr. Fall deserve all that is there stated, and
more if possible, in our opinion.
