JAYNE’S INDIAN EXPECTORANT,
C K recommended as decidedly superior to any oth-
I cr known combination of medicine, for Coughs,
Colds, Influenza, Consumption, Asthma, spitting of
blood, Angima Pectoris—Palpitation of the heart,
Bronchitis; Chronic Pleurisy,Hoarseness,Dilliculty
as Breathing, Hooping Cough ,Pains and Weakness
f the iireust, and all diseases of the Pulmonary
Organs.
Phis medicine is highly and justly recommended,
by numerous and respectable individuals, who have
found relief from its use. Many who have been
laboring under protracted Coughs and Pains in the
breast, and leave been i d pposed by themselves and
their friends far advanced in Consumption, have
been happily restored to perfect health by the use
f t ils valuable Expectorant.
The Rev. C. C. P. Crosby, late Agent of the Ameri
can Baptist, writes as follows :
New York, June 15, 1835.
7’o Or. Jayne —Dear Sir, —I have made use of the
Indian Expectorant, personally and in my family,
for the last six years, with great benefit. Indeed I
may consider my life prolonged by the use of this
valuable medicine, under the blessing of God, for
several years. 1 may say almost as much in the
case of my wife, and also of the Rev. Mr. Tinson,
of the Island of Jamaica. For all cases of cough,
inflammation of the chast, lungs and throat, 1 do
most unhesitatingly recommend this as the best
medicine 1 have ever tried. My earnest wish is,
that others alHicted as I have been, may experience
the same relief, which 1 am persuaded they will, by
using the Indian Expectorant.
C. C. P. CROSBY.
N. It.—Many of my neighbors, on my rccommcn
lation, have tried this medicine with uniform suc
cess. (Mr. Crosby’s present residence is near Eliz
abethtown, N. J.)
neveby certify that 1 was cured of a violent
tough and pain in my breast by using Dr. Jayne’s
ixpcctorant medicine. My wife also was afflicted
villi a bad cough and pain in her breast, attended
with so much difficulty of breathing as to prevent
her from gc'ling any sleep for a number of nights in
succession ; out by taking two doses of this medi
cine she was enabled to sleep quietly through the
night, and in a few days, by continuing its use, she
was perfectly cured. JACOB RIDGEWAY.
Hancock’s Bridge, N. J., Sept. 24,1838.
East spring my wife was confined to her bed by a
listressiug cough and pain in her breast and side.
Her cough hamssed her day and night, and her dif
li tulty of breathing was so great that she got very
little sleep for many days and nights together.—•
None )f the medicines site took appeared to be of
any service to her, until Dr. Jayne kindly sent her
a bottle >f Indian Expectorant, which completely
restored icr to health. She firmly believes it is the
best nedicine ever discovered.

Copy of a letter from the Rev. Simeon Siegfried,
pastor of the Baptist Church at Roxborough, near
Philadelphia.
Dr. I). Jayne. —Dear Sir, —You will probably re
collect that about two months since, 1 called upon
you and procured a bottle of your Indian Kxpc to
rant, stating that 1 was then troubled with an invet
erate hoarseness and cold of three months standing,
for which no medicine that I had tried afforded any
relief. 1 deem it due to you and to the Expectorant
to inform you, that the use of that one bottle entire
My removed the complaint, and that I have had no
. return of it since. From a fair rrial of this medi
j cine, andalso of your Carminative Balsam, in my
own family, and under my observation,! confidently
recommend both to the afflicted. Yours truly,
S. SIEGFRIED.
Philadelphia, July ISth, 1537.
Dr. Jayne. —Dear Sir, —Labouring under Pulmo
nary Affections fur the last five years, and being
troubled recently with a severe cough, attended
with frequent attacks of hemorrhage, 1 xvas per
suaded to buy your Indian Expectorant, after 1 had
resorted in vain to the best medical aid of this city.
Before 1 had taken two bottles,! am happy to say
that the cough entirely left me,t ogether with the
hemorrhage. 1 make this statement under the im
pression that it is a duty which I owe to my fellow
sufferers, and as an expression of my sincere grati
tude to you for your invaluable medicine.
Very respectfully,
J. E. MOORE, Dentist, 49 S. Fifth-st.
Philadelphia, March 30,1535.
DU. I). JAYNE’S CARMINATIVE BALSAM,
I is a certain, safe and effectual remedy for Dysentery,
Diarrhoea, or Looseness, Cholera Morbus, Sumner
Complaint, Cholic, Griping Pains, Sour Stomach,
Flatulency, &c. &c.,aml all Spasmodic and Nervous
Diseases, as Sick and Nervous Headache, liusteria,
Cramp, fee. &c.
This is one of the most efficient, pleasant and safe
compositions ever offered to the public for the cure
of the various diseases of the stomach and bowels,
and the only article worthy of the least confidence
for curing Cholera Infantum or Summer Complaint;
and in all the above cases it really a< ts like a charm.
The highest testimonials have been received of the
groat variety and number of important cures it has
effected —by persons, too, of the first respectability,
who have too much intelligence to bo imposed upon
[ themselves, and too much honesty to lend the imlu
' once of their names for the purpose of imposing upon
others.
Baltimore, March 27th, 1838.
Dr. Jayne —Dear Sir, —You ask me what proofs I
meet with of the efficacy of your medicine. 1 can
safely say that 1 never prescribed a medicine for
Bowel Complaints that has given me so much satis
faction. and my patients so speedy and perfect relief
as this. Whenever introduced into a family, it le
comes a standing remedy for those ailments, and is
called for again ami again, which I think a pretty
good proof of its efficacy and usefulness. In the
Summer Complaint of children it lias frequenrly ap
peared to snatch the little victims, as it were, from
the grave. “1 have saved the life of my child, and
of such and such a child,” 1 have repeatedly heard
said. In dysenteric affections of adults, 1 have time
and again seen it act like a charm, and give perma
nent relief in a few hours, 1 may say in a few
minutes. In fine, it is a valuable medicine, and no
family should be without it. Respectfully,
M. L. KNAPP, M. D.

of the advantages of the Du'camara, and he cured
at a moderate expense, with a very few buttles of j
this pleasant, most efficacious and best of all medi- j
cated Syrups. Combining in its composition noth- j
ingbnt vegetable substances, it can be taken by all i
ages and sexes, infants as well as adults, with the \
most perfect safety. The proprietor deems it a
duty he owes to the public, and to himself, in jus
tice to his medicine to state, that in the shoit space
of twenty-seven months he has sold upwards of live
thousand bottles of his Dulcamara. In which time
it has performed some of the most splendid cures
that have ever been effected, and won the proud
distinction of being considered the greatest lies to- |
rative in the world.
The following arc the unsolicited certificates of
a number of individuals who have been cured by
the Dulcamara. Many persons also afflicted for
years with consumption, asthma, coughs, colds,
rheumatism, liver complaints, dyspepsia, cancers,
leprosy, and the worst kinds of scrofula, with va
rious other chronic diseases, who have been cured
by the Dulcamara, are ready at any time to authen
ticate the facts,
I do hereby certify, t.iat about two months ago, I
had an affection of the nose with considerable pain
and inflammation in one nostril, which at length’
became an alarming sore, which I have no doubt
would have terminated in polypus or cancer, were
I not fortunately persuaded to try a bottle of Mr.
Vcitch’s Vegetable Dulcamara. I purchased from
the proprietoi two bottles which performed a per
fectcure. In addition to which, a troublesome ul
ceration on the lip was removed at the same time.
SAVIUEL D. CAMERON.
Charleston, March 21st, 1838.
I deem it a duty I owe to myself, to the world
and to humanity, to state in unqualified terms what
has transpired under my immediate inspection. Two
colored persons having been afflicted, the one for
seven and the other for the last three years, with
the most violent coughs I ever witnessed in my
life,so much so, that a state of exhaustion and en
tire prostration of strength succeeded each fit of
coughing. Three bottles of the Vegetable Dulca
mara of the South were sent for and taken accord
ing to the directions, which restored them to pet
feet health. THOMAS COUSINS.
Charleston, April 10th, 1837.
Dear sir—l called at your office a few weeks
ago, for the purpose of getting some alum for my
sore mouth, which was dreadfully ulcerated, and
which occasioned the most severe pain for some
time previous. By your recommendation 1 bought
a bottle qf the Vegetable Dulcamara, which cured
me before I had finished the bottle. I therefore
take this opportunity of recommending it to those
who may be afflicted in the same way. A. 11
Charleston, April 13th, 1837.
This certificate will show that three or four
mouths ago, I was seized with a severe rheumatic
affection. Many of my limbs were much swollen
and 1 suffered the most excruciating pain. 1 tried
external applications to no purpose. At last I was
advised to try a bottle of Mr. Vcitch’s Vegetable
Dulcamara. I bought a bott’e of it, which soon re
duced the swelling, the pains ceased, and 1 was re
stored to health. N. CRANSTON.
Charleston, April 11th, 1838.
This certifies that I was afflicted for some two or
three years, with a distressing cough, which no
nostrum applied produced any relief. Finding my
self failing 1 called on Dr. Veitch of this city, drug
gist, for the purpose of trying the Balsam, British
Cough Drops, when I was persuaded to try a bottle
of the Vegetable Dulcamara. I did so, and am
happy to state that two bottles of it has entirely re
moved the above complaint.
CHAS. P. CHAPMAN, IGO King-street.
1 do hereby certify that my son, a lad of ICycars
old, was taken nine weeks since, with a severe cold,
and most violent rheumatic affection, which con
fined him to his bed, for three weeks, duringwhich
time, he suffered the most excruciating pain in his
limbs, which were also very much swollen. Many
remedies that were thought of at the time, were
tried without relief. At length 1 sent for a bottle
of the Vegetable Dulcamara of the South, which
was given according to the directions, with the
happiest effects. 1 was induced in consequence of
this, to try more of it, and purchased two bottles of
it, which have restored his health.

To the Public. —I have been afflicted for the last
four years with the asthma; the attacks of which
disease, at times, have been uncommonly severe
and distressing. I have had recourse to the most
approved remedies for this comp aint and have only
had temporary relief. Some months since, I made
up my mind to try Dr. Veitch’s Vegetable Dulca
mara, and accordingly commenced the use of it. 1
soon found to my satisfaction that this invaluable
medicine afforded relief every time I took it, and
which 1 pronounce to be the best expectorant I
have ever tried. 1 have persevered in the use of
it, until I have so far regained my health, as only
to require the medicine occasionally. The attacks
of the disease are now less frequent, and much
milder than formerly, and I ran confidently recom
mend it to those similarly situated, as the best med
icine for asthma ever discovered. I take this op
portunity aloof saying, that the Dulcamara has
strengthened my chest, and improved my health
generally, by invigorating the constitution.

To the Public —Having been a victim to the
asthma for the last twenty years, I deem it a duty
publicly to say, that after trying every thing for
that disease, without any re ief, I called at Mr.
Veitch’s and bought a bottle of his Vegetable Dul

of that distressing complaint, and improved my
health in every other respect.

Notice. —This will certify that for years having
been afflicted with a severe couffli and pulmonary
affection, attended with excruciating pain in the
side, I had exhausted every thing in medicine that
1 thought could be of any service—all to no pur
pose; 1 had given Cosby’s Bitters and the British
Cough Balsam, with other medicines and Panaceas
of the day, a fair trial, but found no benefit what
