ChaSllston, April IS.
In making up onr review of th • m irket yester
day, we were rather surp. isrd at the complaint gen
eral of the stagnant stale of business, particularly
at this season, when dealers from the country and
the strrounding Mates generally v isit us for the
purpo-e of making their spring and summer pur
chases; hut such is the fact,—for several succes
sive weeks the sales in produce have been light,
and witu hut few exceptions cofmned to the wants
of city dealers, tlur wholesale Dry Goo Is Merch
ants are a so at pre -ent loing comparatively noth
ing. We hope that this slate of things w ill not
long eon tin u.s, and that we may in a very short
time have it in our power to reporta geneial revival
of business.
Cotlun —The Upland cotton market ha . continued
exceedingly dull throughout the week just clo-ed,
as the result of sales will prove. Such lots gene
rally, ns have changed bands, have been forced
upon the market, and have consequent y gone olf
at a decline of } to } rent per lb. on the currency
of the picvions week ; the generality of holders,
however, will not acknowledge the reduction in
price—and the article continues in the same un
sett ed state as recorded for the past fortnight
and such doubtless will continue the case until the
receipt of later intelligcn-c from Europe, which
is anxious'y looked for by dealers. In the present
slate of the market our limitations must he con
sidered nominal. The sales since our last are 2590
bales, at 13} a 17 cents per lb. In Sea Island about
130 bags white h ive been taken at prices ranging

I yERUAPS there is nothing more calculated to
J disgust the public eye than the innumerable
advertisements of nostrums that are constantly ap

Still, motives of delicacy short d not prevent us

JAYNE'S INDIAN EXPECTOKANT, J
D S recommended as decidedly superior to any oth- :<
Icr known combination of medicine, for toughs, r

Bronchitis;Chronic Pleurisy', Hoarseness, Difficulty
of Breathing, Hooping Cough .Pains and Weakness
f the Breast, and all diseases of the Pulmonary "
Organs. a
This medicine is highly and justly recommended, 11
by numerous anil respectable individuals, who have
found relief from its use. Many who have been
laboring under protracted Coughs and Pains in the '
breast, and have been i I pposed by themselves and J;
their friends far advanced in Consumption, have ■
been happily restored to perfect health by the use c
f t lis valuable Expectorant.
The Rev. C. C. P. Crosby, laic Agent of the Ameri
can Baptist, writes as fallows :
New York, June 15, 1835.
To Dr. Jayne- —Dear Sir, —1 have made use of Ihc *
Indian Expectorant, personally and in my family, c
for the last six years, with great benefit. Indeed I s
may consider my life prolonged by' the use of this J
valuable medicine, under the blessing of God, for
several years. 1 may say almost as much in the 1
case of my wife, and also of the Rev. Mr. Tinson, c
of the Island of Jamaica. For all cases of cough, 1
inflammation of the ehost, lungs and throat, Ido 1
most unhesitatingly recommend this as the best
medicine 1 have ever tried. My earnest wish is,
lhat others afflicted as I have been, may experience
the same relief, which 1 am persuaded they will, by'
using the Indian Expectorant.
C. C. P. CROSBY.
N. B. —Many of my'neighbors, on my rccommen- 1
lation, have tried this medicine with uniform sue- 1
cess. (Mr. Crosby’s present residence is near Eliz- r
abethtown, N. J.)
ncreby certify lhat 1 was cured of a violent '
tough and pain in my breast by using Dr. Jayne’s
ixpectorant medicine. My wife also was afflicted
vith a had cough and pain in her breast, at tended
with so much difficulty of breathing as to prevent 1
her from go'ting any sleep for a number of nights in ;
succession ; out by taking two doses of this medi
cine she was enabled to sleep quietly through the 1
aight, and in a few days, by continuing its use, she :
■vas perfectly cured. JACOB RIDGEWAY.*

listressing cough and pain in her breast and side.
I lor cough hanassed her day and night, and her dif
li.’ulty of breathing was so great that she got very 1
little sleep formany days and nights together.—•
None if the medicines she took appeared to be of !
any service to her, until Dr. Jayne kind.y sent her
a bottle if Indian Expectorant, which completely
restored ter to health. She firmly believes it is the !
best nedicinc over discovered.

II Dr. Jayne —Dear Sir, —You ask me what proofs I
I meet with of the efficacy of your medicine, lean
, safely say that I never prescribed a medicine for
5 Bowel Complaints that has given me so much sati>-
[ faction, and my patients so speedy and perfect relief
s 1 as tltis. Whenever introduced into a family, it Ic
f ' comes a standing remedy for those ailments, and is
I eallod for again and again, which 1 think a pretty
.. i good proof of its efficacy and usefulness. In the
v 1 Summer Complaint of children it has frequenriy ap-
, 1 peared to snatch the little victims, as it were, from
i the grave. “I have saved the liteot my child, and
e of snrh and such a child,” 1 have repeatedly heard
S said. In dysenteric affections of adults, I have time
I and again seen it act like a charm, and give perma
> uent relief in a few hours, 1 may say in a few
minutes. In line, it is a valuable medicine, and no
k family should be without it. Respectfully,

I do hereby certify, t.iat about two months ago, I
had an affection of the nose with considerable pain 1
and inflammation in one nostril, which at length
became an alarming sore, which I have no doubt I
would have terminated in polypus or cancer, were
1 not fortunately persuaded to try a bottle of Mr.
Veitch’s Vegetable Dulcamara. I purchased from '
the proprictoi two bottles which performed a per- 1
fectcure. In addition to which, a troublesome ul-|
ccration on the lip was removed at the same time. 1

I deem it a duty I owe to myself, to the world I
and to humanity, to state in unqualified terms what !
has transpired under my immediate inspection. Two
colored persons having been afflicted, the one for |
seven and the other for the last three years, with
the most violent coughs I ever witnessed in my j
life, so much so, that a state of exhaustion and en- I
tire prostration of strength succeeded cadi ft of j
coughing. Three bottles of the Vegetable Dulca

fect health. THOMAS COUSINS.

To the Public. —l have been afflicted for the last
four years with the asthma; the attacks of which
disease, at times, have been uncommonly severe
and distressing. 1 have had recourse to the most
approved remedies for this comp aint and have only
had temporary relief. B’ome months since, 1 made
up my mind to try Dr. Veitch’s Vegetable Dulca
mara, and accordingly commenced the use of it. I
soon found to my satisfaction that this invaluable
medicine afforded relief every time 1 took it, and
which I pronounce to be the best expectorant 1
have ever tried. 1 have persevered in the use of
it, until 1 have so far regained my health, as only
to require the medicine occasionally. The attacks
of the disease are now less frequent, and much
milder than formerly, and I can confidently recom
mend it to those similarly situated, as the best med
icine for asthma ever discovered. 1 take this op
portunity aloof saying, that the Dulcamara has
strengthened my chest, and improved my health
generally, by invigorating the constitution.
