IS recommended as decidedly supcrioi to any olu
er known combination of medicine, for Cloughs,
bolds. Influenza, Consumption, Asthma, spitting of
blood, Angima Pectoris —Palpitation of the heart,
bronchitis; Chronic Pleurisy,Hoarseness,Difficulty
it breathing, Hooping Cough ,Pains and Weakness
of the Breust, and all diseases of the Pulmonary
Organs.
This medicine is highly and justly recommended,
by numerous and respectable individuals, who have
found relic! from its use. Many who have been
labori g under protracted Coughs and Pains in tho
breast, and have been i u pposed by themselves and
their friends far advanced in Consumption, have
been happily rcstorcu to perfect health by the use
of t lis valuable Expectorant.
The Rev. C, C. V. Crosby, late Agent of the Ameri
can Baptist, writes as follows ;
New York, June 15, 1835.
To Dr. Jayne —Dear Bir, —1 have made use of the
Indian Expectorant, personally and in my family,
for the last six years, with great benefit. Indeed I
may consider my life prolonged by the use of this
valuable medicine, under the blessing of Go'., for
several gears. I may say almost as much in the
case of my wife, and also of the Rev. Mr. I'inson,
of the Islam! of Jamaica. For all cases of cough,
inflammation of the chast, lungs and throat, 1 do
most unhesitatingly recommend this as the best
medicine 1 have ever tried. My earnest wish is,
Ihat others afflicted as 1 have been, may experience
the same relief, which 1 am persuaded they will, by
using the Indian Expectorant,
C. C. P. CROSBY'.
N. B.—Many of my neighbors, on my rccommen
lation, have tried this medicine with uniform suc
cess. (Mr. Crosby’s present residence is near Eliz
abethtown, N. J.)
nereby certify that I was cured of a violent
tough and pain in my breast by using Dr. Jayne’s
sxpcctorant medicine. My wife also was afflicted
vith a bod rough and pain in her breast, attended
with so much difficulty of breathing as to prevent
her from ge‘ ting any sleep fur a number of nights in
succession ; out by taking two doses of this medi
cine she was enabled to sleep quietly through the
night, and in a few days, by continuing its use, she
vas perfectly cured. JACOB RIDGEWAY.
Hancock's Bridge, N. J., Sept. 24,1838.
Last spring my wife was confined to her bed by a
listressing cough and pain in her breast and side.
I lei rough barrassed her day and night, and her dif
fi-ulty of breathing was so great that she got very
little sleep for many days ami nights together.—
None )f the medicines she took appeared to be of
any scr/irc to her, until Dr. Jayne kindly sent her
a bottle if Indian Expectorant, which completely
restored rer to health. Bhe firmly believes it is the
best nedicinc ever discovered.

Dr. D. Jayne. —Dear Sir, —Vou will probably re
collect that about two months since, 1 called upon
you and procured a bottle of your Indian Expe.to
raut, stating that I was then troubled with an invet
erate hoarseness and cold of three months standing,
for which no medicine that 1 had tried alforded any
relief. J deem it due to you and to the Expectorant
to inform you, that the use of that one bottle entire
ly removed the complaint, and that I have had no
return of it sim v. From a fair rrial of this medi

own family, and under my observation,! confidently
recommend both to the afflicted. Yours truly,

Dr. Jayne. —Dear Sir, —Labouring under Pulmo

troubled recently with a severe cough, attended
with frequent attacks of hemorrhage, I was per

Philadelphia, March 30,1838.
DR. I). JAYNE’S CARMINATIVE BALSAM,
is a certain, safe and elfcctnal remedy for Dysentery,
Diarrhoea, or Looseness, Cholera Morbus, Summer
Complaint, Cholic, Griping Pains, Sour Stomach,
Flatulency, &c. Sic., and all Spasmodic and Nervous
Diseases, as Sick and Nervous Headache, Husteria
Cramp, (kc. Sic. ’
This is one of the most efficient, pleasant and safe
compositions ever offered to the public for the cure
of the various diseases of the stomach and bowels,
and the only article worthy of the least confidence
lor curing Cholera Infantum or Summer Complaint;
and in ail the above cases it really acts like a charm.
Fbc highest testimonials have been received of the
great variety and number of important cures it has
effected—by persons, too of the first respectability
who have too much intelligence to he imposed upon
themselves, and too much honesty to lend the influ
ence of their names for the purpose of imposing upon
others.
Baltimore, March 27th, 1838.
Dr. Jayne —Dear Sir, —You ask me what proofs I
meet with of the efficacy of your medicine. 1 can
safely say that 1 never prescribed a medi< ine for
Bowel Complaints that has given me so much satis
faction, and my patients so speedy and perfect relief
as this. Whenever introduced into a family, it be
comes a standing remedy for those ailments,’and is
called for again and again, which I think a pretty
good proof of its efficacy and usefulness. In the
Summer Complaint of children it has frequently ap
peared to snatch the little victims, as it were, from
the grave. “1 have saved the life of my child, and
of such and such a child,” 1 have repeatedly heard
said. In dysenteric affections of adults, 1 have time
and again seen it act like a charm, and give perma
nent relief in a few hours, 1 may say in a few
minutes. In line, it is a valuable medicine, and no
family should be without it. Respectfully,
M. L. KNAPP, M. D.

PERHAPS there is nothing more calculated to |
disgust the public eye than the innumerable
advertisements of nostrums that are constantly ap
pearingin the public prints. All are ready to ex- I
claim, our souls are sick, our ears are pained with !
every day’s reports of ils and specifics. This state 1
of the public mind would seem to forbid any peison
of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis
coveries in medicine, to the trial of the public.— !
Still, motives of delicacy sbou d not prevent us
from making known real discoveries, which we
are confident will benefit our fellow-men. This
latter consideration has prompted the author of
these bitters to make them known. He knows
hey arc highly efficacious, for he himself, his wife
and many friends, have given them a thorough trial,
ile was himself a confirmed dyspeptic, so much, that
even his recollection was cone. By using these
hitters he lias been restored to health. Mrs. Cos ay
was troubled for many years but was restored to
health by the use of these slitters. This has been
the case with many of his friends. Mr. Cosby in
sending forth this advertisement addresses those
who know him. He has been for many years a resi
dent of Augusta, at which place, he can at any
time be consulted about the bitters. I bey are
good in all cases of diseases of the digestive or
gans, the symptoms of which a.e indigestion
pain or oppression in the stomach from food’
mss of appetite, flatulency, heart burn, giddiness in’
the head, pain in the side, shortness of bieath, lassi
tude. general weakness, disturbed sleep, Kc.
The composition is entirely Botanical, and has
proved effinii ions when many celebrated medicines
had failed. In support of which he refers them to
Freeman \V. Lacy, sheriff' of Richmond county
an 1 William T. Thompson, editor of the Augusta’
Mirror, and he might refer you to many others
but deems it unnecessary as be is willing to place’
it on its own merits. All he asks is for those who
■ire afflicted with tbtfdyspepsia to give it a trial.
