Republican Senator Tillman may
deserve expulsion, though on expel
sion he might appeal to nls state for
some sort of a vindication and be
sent hack in triumph, as Joshua (Jid
dings was by his Ohio dlstlrct after
expulsion from the House, for other
causes, however, than disgraceful
misbehavior. But tne matter seems
to lie assuming too partisan a form
to make expulsion easy to effect.
The Democratic senators evince a
disposition to stand by Tillman, as
against one whom they regard as a
renegade, and the Republicans would
lack the two-thirds vote necessary to
expel without help from the other
side.
THE ISSUES.
There seems to be hut little doubt
now Inn that we will have some heat
ed political contests in the near fu
ture.
The race for the senate and the
rare for the house promts,' to he
spirited.

The liquor question promises to be

court, the advantages and disadvant
ages we will bo able then to say ex
actly what is best lor the people as
a whole.

and will give an honest opinion in
this matter.

The News appreciates the fact
that the treasury of the city U not
in a condition to stand for the com
pletion of the market building, and
as the sale of the material of the
half finished structure would cause
a sacrifice to the city it is better to
let it stand for awhile, a
least until we are able to complete

will never be used as a market, but
it will make excellent quarters for
the fire and police departments.
