HIGH MASS TODAY.
There will be High Mass at the
Catholic church today at 10 o’clock,
the service being conducted by Fath
er Smith, who, with his associate
priest, is here on a visit from the
north. The Easter music will be
repeated and the services will be
very interesting.
THE SILVER TEA.
The silver tea, which was given by
the Manse Circle at tjie home of
Mrs. Wm. Tupper, was a decided
treat to those who attended. The
feature of the evening was a "donkey
party," the (prize falling to the
lucky lot of Mr. Claude Dart. Sweet
music and delicious refreshments
closed the pleasant affair.
ACCACIA CLUB ENTERTAINED.
The Aeeacia club was charming

fit st prize, a handsome sofa pillow,
was awarded to Miss Lucile Butts,
the second, a neatly bound book, to
Mrs. E. D. Walter, and the consola
tion, a piece of statuary, to Mrs. C,
B. Lloyd.
“THE RISEN KING.”
A musical treat is in store for all
who attend tne Presbyterian church
tonight. The beautiful cantata “The
Risen King,” will be rendered by a
number of our best singers. This
song service was arranged for Eas
ter, but was postponed until tonight
on account of the .evival services
which were going on at Hie church
during Easter week. The pastor
will deliver an appropriate address
and the entire service will he espec
ially interesting. Those who are to
take part in the cantata are Mrs.
Dyer, Mrs. Whitfield and Miss Helen
O’Conor, supranos; Miss Lucile Butts,
Miss A. O’Conor, Mrs. M. Stacy, and
Mrs. E. D. Walter, aitos; Mr. W. M.
Tupper, Mr. J. S. Raymond, Mr.
Chas. Fleming and Mr. R. E. Sher
.nan, tenors; Mr. J. S. Robbins, Mr.
W. ,1. Dempster. Mr. .1. A. Montgom
ery and Mr. H. J. WafT, bassos. Mis.
J. F. Baya, the organist, will lie ac

affair lias been gotten up by Mr. Geo.
11. Cook, this fact in itself would

THE SCHOOL. CONTEST
The hoys who participated in the
contest in declamation at the public
school on Friday were Hunter Hop
kins, Elliot iTTtftS. Henry Cook, Mc-
Donald Harjtiy. Fn-d Ootte. Henry
Bunk ley, Frank Atkinson, Julius Elic
itl', Ralph Wood and James Osborne.
The contest was only primary, its ob
ject being to uetermine upon the six
orators lor the final competition.
The object of the contest is to com
pete fot a prize which was offered in
1.. e beginning of the term by Col.
W. G. Brantley. i~e boys have
worked faithfully under tne able
training of Mr. J. W. Griffith. The
declamations were largely patriotic
and their excellent delivery showed
marked talent fn the youthful ora
tors. The judges were Judge A. J.
Crovatt. Col. F. E. Twitty and Col.
A 1.. Franklin. Their decision will
ht| rendered on Monday moving.
The boys are anxiously awaiting the
result, each having striven faithfully
to secure a place iu the final contest
if not the prize.
LIBRARY ENTERTAINMENT.
Too entertainment to be given at
the opera house tomorrow night, un
der the auspices of the Library as
sociation. promises to be a very en
joyable affair. The following inter

Waynesville, Ga.. April s.—Sunday
school was organized at the First
Baptist church. Sunday morning,
March ::n. Quite a large number of
pupils were enrolled. Mr. Mitchell
Gibson was made superintendent.
Mr. Don Livingston, of Bladen,
spent several days here this week.
Messrs. Tom McCall and Albert An
lerson, of Brunswick, were the guests
of Mr. J. M. Wiggins last Sunday.
Mr. A. i’ratte Carswell, of Warden,
visited friends here last Sunday.
Mr. E. Jacobs. Jr. entertained his
friends wilh a dance Friday evening.
Master Berner Hlghsmith was the
•harming little ho; t at an Easter egg
hunt, last Saturday afternoon. Quite

present and all enjoyed the occasion
thoroughly.

Will Meet Tomorrow.
The committee of citizens that met
Thursday to arrange for the Munhal!
tabernacle meeting adjourned to meet
at the city hall Monday afternoon
at 3 o’clock. At this time plans will
be submitted and reports made by
the special committees. A full meet
ing of the whole committee is de
sired.
Presbyterian Church.
The usual services of public wor
ship will be conducted today by the
pastor, at the Presbyterian church.
In connection with the morning ser
vice the communion of the Lord’s
Supper will be celebrated. The ses
sion will meet at the church at 10:30
for the reception of new members.
The evening service will begin at
7:45, and will be a special musical
service of praise. “The Risen King,”
an Easter cantata, will be sung by a
choir of sixteen voices with organ,
piano and violin accompaniment. A
short address will be made by the
pastor. A special offering will be
made at the evening service to sup
ply the church with new hymn books.
Embroidery goes at unheard of
