past: and should be in the care
of these loyal women who are en
deavoring to preserve such objects
from decay and demolition.

Entertained Accacia Club.
Miss Mai King entertained the
Acacia club last Wednesday aftom/v>n.
Euchre was played, Mrs. E. D. Walter
winning the first prize and also the
lone-hand prize. Only the members
iof tlic club were present. The affair
j was very pleasant and enjoyed by ail
present.

have been invited, and the occasion
(promises to be a very delightful one.

Reception of Mrs. Park.
Mrs. R. E. Park, of Atlanta, enter
tained with a tea in honor of several
prominent visitors last Thursday, and
among the guests of honor was Mrs.
P. W. Godfrey, formerly of this city,
now of Covington. Mrs. Godfrey is re
gent of the Sergeant Newton Chapter
of D. A. R. and is one of Georgia s
most prominent and "popular women.
The regents of the different chapters
and officers of the U. D. C., assisted
Mrs. Park in the V.dertainm-it <f
her distinguished guests.

Prominent Visitors.
Mr. and Mrs. I). Dillon Akers will
arrive in the city shortly and will be
the guests of Mrs. 12. F. Coney. Mr.
Akers is prominent in Atlanta's bus
iness and social circles, and his bride
is one of Augusta"s fairest and so
ciety women. Their marriage was a
brilliant event of interest to a wide
circle of friends in the south and
west, the bride being a daughter of
the late Governor Palmer, of Mis
souri. Many pleasant attentions veil!

their stay in Brunswick, alter which
they will return to Atlanta, where
they will reside.

Boat Ride to St. Simon.
A pldasant party of Jewish citizens
enjoyed a boat ride to St. Simon on
the steamer Hessie Thursday night.
The merry party was accompanied by
a string hand, and stop was made at
the pier and all enjoyed a dance.

The Uniform Rank, Knights of
Pythias, received their new uniforms
yesterday. The company will make
their first appearance in them on
Memorial day, when they will take
part in the parade.
Finishing Woodwork.
Builder Butler is busily engage! in
finishing up the woodwork on the
steamer R. B. Tapper. The trim lit
tle craft will be ready to take the
"St. Simon run in a few weeks.
To Attend Church.
The Brunswick Riflemen will at
tend the St. Jude’s Episcopal church
this morning at 11 o’clock to hoar a
sermon to be delivered io them by
the pastor, Rev. Bradley. The com
pany is called to meet at the armory
at 10 o’clock.
Remains Shipped.
The remains of Mr. G. R. Dunn, who
passed away in this city Friday night,
shipped to his former home in
Chicago over the 9:05 Southern last
night. The body was escortet to the
depot by both Ogletnorp- atvl Rath
bone lodges, is of P. of this cuy.
A Small Blaze.
The residence of Henry Boyd, on Q

Hut was extinguished before much
damage was done. No ala .-in was
sounded as the bouse is out of the
fire limits. Sanitary Inspector Good

succeeded In saving the house.
