PETITION FOR CHARTER.
STATE OF GEORGIA,
COUNTY OF GLYNN.
To the Superior court o£ said county:
The petition of C. T. Calnan, J, D.
White, J. A. S. B. Henderson,
James Savage and W. A. Potter, ail
of said state and county, respectfully
shows:
First. That petitioners desire for
themselves, and such others persons
as may be hereafter associated with
tnem, to be incorporated under the
corporate name and style of “The
“Loan and Land company ot Bruns
wick.”
Second. That the object of such
coriJorajUon is ttya pecuniary gain
of its members, and they wish to own
hold, improve, and sell, or otherwise
'dispose of real equate, to lend money
and lake security therefor, and to
buy and sell stocks and bonds and
tor other ecurities.
Third. T hat the principal office of
said corporation shali be in the city
ot Brunswick, in said county of
Glynn.
Fourth. That the capital stock
of said corporation shall he ten thous
and dollars, divined into one hundred
shares of the parvalue ot one hun
dred dollars each, with the right, by
a majority vote ot the shareholders, to
inert as<4 fliie capital stock irom time
to time to any sum or sums not ex
ceeding liity thousand dollars.
Filth. That the officers of said
corporation shall be a president, vice
president, secretary and treasurer and
such oth roffleers oragents as thesiiare
holders or board of directors may de
sire; that the board Of directors shall
consist of not more than seven nor
not less than three, all ol' whom shall
be shareholders, who shall be elected
by the shareholders.
Sixth. That the shareholders shall
havq th: right to fix and prescribe
by-laws, rules and regulations tor the
government, of said corixn-ation, or
to delegate (bis authority to the board
of directors.
Seventh. That, under such corpor
ate name and style, your petitioners
desire the right to contract an.l be
contracted with; to sue and he sued;
to borrow money and secure the same
as the board of directors may deair©;
to have and use a common seal, and
to change the same ut pleasure; and
generally to have all the rights, priv
ileges and powers incident to and nec
essary and proper in the conduct an .
operation of the business of the cor
poration, and all the rights, privi
leges and powers given and granted
such corporations under the laws of
Gi*orgia.
Eighth. That there shall be no in
dividual liability upon the part of
any shareholder ot thecorporation ex
cept such amount as may he due by such
shareholder as unpaid subscription
for stock in said corporation.
Ninth .hat they desire to be in
corporated under said name and
style of The Loan and Land Company
of Hrunswiek, with all the rights,
priviliges and powers prayed for
le rein, for a period of twenty years,
with privilege of renewal at the ex-
Iplration of that time.

The engagement of Miss Belle
Adams, formerly of this city, to Mr,
Sidney Klein is announced Miss
Adams resided in this city a numbei
of years and is remembered by a larg
of years and is remembered by a
large circle of friends.. Klein is a
prominent young buiness man of
Chicago.
The entertainment in the park yes
terday afternoon and last night for the
benefit of the library, was a decided
success. The maypole dance and cake
walk by the children were very
pretty and gave evidence of the care
ful drilling they had received. Much
credit is due the energetic ladies who
planned and execuetd the entire affair
and it Is hoped the resultts are in pro
potion to their zeal arid hard work.

The grand sacret concert to l>e
given ai the Presbyterian church next
Friday night, unde the management of
Mr. Geo. 11. Cook, promises to be un
usualy fine. The Easter cantata that
was so favorably received will be re
peted by general request. A number
of new pieces will also be Introduced.
No admission will lie charged, but a
free will offering will be made for the
purpose of supping the clinch with
new hymn books.

1. The petition of Ed Pfeiffer, F. A.
Dunn, Max Marks, William H- Wood,
Jr., A. O, Townsend, L. Feibelman,
J. L. Jacobi, and such others as may be
hereafter associated with them, respect
fully show that they desire to be made a
body corporate and politic under the
laws of the State of Georgia, under and
by the name of the Cumberland Club;
2. That such corporation will have no
capital stock, except that derived from
assesinents, initiation fees and monthly
dues of its members fixed by its Con
stitution and By-Laws.
3. That the purpose and objects for
which your Petitioners desire to be in
corporated are not for pecuniary gain,
profit or trade but the establishment of
a social organization for the social
gathering of its members, with such
facilities to promote the pleasures con
venience, kind feeling and six-ial inter
course of its member* ordinarily appor
tioning to clubs or toilies formed for like
purposes:

the privilege of renewal after the ex

may seem desirable.
