gist, who for setverai years has been
with the drug store of W. J. Butts, |
closed a deal a day or two ago for
the purchase of the drug business of!
J. H Polhill, at tne corner of Newcas-j
tie aud Gloucester streets, and will
probably take charge of the business
this morning.
Than John Morgan there is no more j
popular young man in Brunswick, and j
that he will succeed in Jiis new ven
ture there Is no doubt. He is one of
the best druggists in this section of
the country, has had many years ex
perience in all departments of the
business, and is a sterling young bus
iness man who has a host of friends
who will join the News In telling him
success.
The many friends of Mr. Polhill
will regret to learn that the sale,
however, means that he is to remove
his residence from this city to Augus
ta. He has not been in good health
and is of tne ojiinion that a change
will be beneficial to him.
Mr, Butts has not yet decided Just
who will succeed Mr. Morgan, but a
first class man will be employed, and
this well known and very popular
drug store will continue to be one
of the largest and most up to date in
the city.
PRISONER TRIES TO END LIFE.
Cut Muscles of Arm in Attempt To
Commit Suicide in Jail.
Swainesboro, Ga., July 23 —A pris
oner in the county jail name i Tur
ner, attempted to kill himself last
night by cutting an artery In His
arm.
Turner was arrested on n charge
of assisting Charley Johnson to e.-
ape from the officers.
By some means he secured a Knife
and cut the muscles of bin arm In an
endeavor to find an artery. The oth
er prisoners gave the alarm and a
physician was summoned and by
quirk work his life was saved.
Charley Johnson is the man who
silled Deputy J. C. Flanders la>l
seek.

The 102d session of the University
of the state will open on September
18th. TliiH institution is organized in
three departments, Academic, Law and
Agricultural. There is no tuition to
residents of the state except in the
law school. In agriculture the courses
