MR. THORNTON'3 POSITION.
Part of rtis Talk Friday. Night W,
Misquoted by the News.
In its report ol Friday night's New
Town Crovatt meeting the News inad
vertently misquoted from toe address
of Rev. C. P. 1 uoriiton and its takes
this opportunity of placing tuat gen
tleman in a cotrect attitude. The
pi ews stated that during the course of
his remarks, Mr. Thornton took occa
sion to endorse the entire ticket bead
ed by Judge Crovatt. This was an
error. Mr. Thornton did not endorse
the ticket or any individual member
thereon and his address on this occa
sion was more in the nature of a lec
ture on political economics rather than
that of a political aunerent.
in this connection, the News desires
to say that it was not reportorially
represented at this meeting and its
report ot same was gathered ,rom best
sources available.
Mr. Thornton has lived ia Brunswick
for a number* of years, is held in the
very highest; esteem by those wao
know him best and whatever bosition
he may in the impending cam
paign will ottly be reached after ma
ture deliberation aud thorough inves
tigation.
It is to he regretted that he was
made to appear as a partisan of the
Crovatt ticket and if any injustice has
been done to his friends then certain
ly Mr. Thornton is not to blame for
the same.
