COMMISSIONERS TOOK UP THIS
SUBJECT AT THE MEETING
YESTERDAY.
The county commissioners at. their
meeting yesterday took u(Kibe ma.icr
of bettor bridges in the county, and
this very important subject was dis
missed at length hy the hoard.
However, no definite ac,..nn was
taken, and Inn commissioners ad
jnurned lo meet again today, when the
rpiehtion will lit- taken tip and dispos

it is the intention of Ihe commit;
sinners to have erected over the
county several concrete bridges, and
one of them wil be erected shortly at
Camp Warker, some ii-m miles into
the city. The contract for the erection
of this bridge will probably he let to
day.
This a step in the right direction,
and t'ne people generally-will commend
the commissioners for their action, it
ts a well known fact that better
bridges are needed over Hie county
The bridges the county will have
htiill will be of concrete and will I"’
very substantial in every way. Finally
they will he erected all over the
county and the old wooden bvid< s
will be relegated.

HOLIDAY/ SEASON \T HAND.
Busy Shoppers Fill the Streets in
Search of'Christmas Goods.
The holiday season is at hand and
front now until Christinas the' stores
and shops will he filled with eager
purchasers eagerly gearcheing for bar
gains in Christmas goods.
Despite the bad wtatheV yesterday
a large ccrowd of shoppers was out.
and when fair weather comes the iu;
ual army of Christmas shoppers will
swarm Into the stores and deplete the
stocks of goods. The stores arc a!
ready in holiday attire, and the dis
play of the season's goods is large
and assorted. The atmosphere m
Christmas is beginning to he felt. The
crowds that will jostle each other
from now until Ihe 2tth will lie eager
but good-natured, amt tne search for
suitable Christmas presents will be a
long and interesting one.
The interest in this feature of the
-milltaxi, js lone that felt hy the old
and young, and Santa Claus is hold
ing out great hopes to the youngster,
when tils impatience counts every day
until the glorious time, i tie children
are anticipating with no little picas
tire and expectation the closing of Hip
schools and the consequent two weeks'
holiday mat will full to t.m-ir lot.
Holly has already made its appear
ance on iho sireds, and in the cent -
of a week mistletoe fakirs will bi
present with their wards. The Indira
tions are for an excellent Christmas
trade, and both shoppers aud stot-i
keepers are happy.

Virulent Cancer Cured.
Startling proof of a wonderful ad
vauce in medicine is given by druggist
tl. W. Roberts, of Elizabeth. W. Va,
An old matt there had long suffered
with what good doctors pronounced
incurable cancer. They believed his
case hopelcifc till he used Electric
Bitters and applied Buck leu's Arnica
Salve, which treatment completely
cured him. When Electric Bitters are
used to expel bilious, kidney and mi
crobe poisons at the same time this
salve exerts its matchless heating
power, blood diseases, skin eruptions,
ulcers and sore* vanish. Bitters 50c.,
