CONDITION OF THE PEACH CRCP,
__________ •
Reports from Various States.
The reports upon the peach crop
conditions given below have been re
ceived from the deportments of agri
culture of various fates and they ;
show the oonditioii3 that existed about
the middle of April. Press dispatch' j
es indicate that the more recent fi-ec-z-!
ins weather has changed the eoiidi- :
tior.s in sonic sections and that tin!
general prospects are much more di- ;
couriering than formerly.
These reports may bo summarized
as follows:
Calihrrn/R, April 22.—Peach crop in
this state in a normal condition, with
promise of an average crop, takin
the peach districts as a whole. TV.
indication!! am that all ea'y fruit
will be us.sualiy late in ripening an i
will reach, the market some two or
throe weei'is later than normal.
Delaware, April 18. —Prom present
indication!; loss than half a crop will
he produced and extremely unfavor
able weather prevails’.
Illinois, April 17.—There will bo ip,
peaches in central and northern 111!-
■nois this year, and but part of ac: >;■.
is expected in the southern portion ol ;
the state. •
Massachusetts, April IS.-.—Acoordinj
to host information hardly a peach
will he harvested throughout the state '

well.
Missouri, April 16—The pre.-pocti
generally not good and in many mc
tions even the most hardy varie*::!
are killed. However, in the south' i
counties wheie the bulk of the peach
es are grown, 25 to 50 per cent o!
a crop is indicated Taking the statj
as a whole, not more than 10 per cent
of a crop will be produced.
New Jersey. April 16.—General re ;
ports indicate 25 to 56 per. cent ol ,
an average crop, although at that (into
it was ton early to determine the ex
tent of damage.
North Carolina. April 15. —No defi
nite information at hand, but general
reports s-liow something like 5b pef
cent of a crop. • j
Ohio. April 17.—Reports made by 1
township correspondents on April Ist
showed 1 the peach crop in Ohio to be
about 77 per cent of -an average.
Texas. April 17.—A late freeze dam
aged tHe fru.lt. materially and or.lv
half a crop is indicated.
Virginia, April 17. —Reports coming
in at this date were conflicting, but
nothing like a full crop will be pro
duced.
West Virginia, April 18. —Not m.ora
than 15 per cent of the usual crop is
expected and the indications are that
all other fruits have been greatly
damaged by the cold wave.
Georgia—At present the crop in this
state is more promising than was in
dicated by reports received some few
weeks. ago. In the northern part ol
the s-thte tihe yield Will he very light,

this Tsoction arc quite -well fruited.
About, 25 per cent of a normal crop
may irti expected from the 'Minnie and
Southern sections. Although the .per
centage of a crop will he small, j
large quantity of fruit villi bo produc
ed, owing to the enormous number ol
trees In bearing.
