Had Few Sales.
The public sales In front of the
court house door Tuesday wore not as
interesting as usual and only a few

Hall and Happy.
Wlnsted, Conn., June 3.—Juan and
Joel Ilungerford, probably the oldest
twins in the United States, celebra
ted their eighty-seventh birthday to
day, and are well and happy. The
brothers have always, enjoyed good
health.
To Take A Vacation.
Washington, June 3.—The British
Ambassador, Sir Micheal Herbert and
staff left for Newport today where
they will spend their summer vacat
tion. The embassy will he located
there for the summer. The Ambas
sador and I.ady Herbert will sail for
England later in the month but they
will return In a short time.
Trip Nearly at an End.
Washington, June 2.—The record
breaking trip of President Roosevelt
is now about to end and he will
reach here within the next day
or Iwo and the welcome awaiting him
will he a cordial one. The clly has
been very dull since his departure
and the public Is glad that he is soon
to return.
Another Large Excursion.
The large excursion which came
here a few days ago from points on
the Atlantic & Birmingham and the
Brunswick & Birmingham will not
he In it with the one which will come
to this city on the Fourth. It ins
said that over a thousand will come
from up the lines of the same rail
roads.
Coming Home Now.
Many of the young folks of this city
who have been attending the differ
ent colleges, will return to the city
during the present month and it is
safe to say that they are all de
lighted to see the day when they can
look again into the faces of their
home folks. The Brunswick pupils
who have been attending college
have all made good records and the
city should be proud of them.
Rushed With Work.
Although machlnno work has been
very dull lately, the Bay Iron works
have had all they can do and are now
doing a big piece of work for a saw
mill man nearly a hundred miles from
the city. It Is true that they have
been crowded hut they have succeed
ed in turning out all work when prom
insed. This is the secret of their suc
cess. You can rest assured that the
work will he delivered when they say
it will.

held a pleasant reception last even
ing at Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Everett’s
in honor of Davis’ birthday. The vet
erans and their families were the
guests of the Daughters. Rev. Mr.
Cassil presented the crosses with an
appropriate address. The occasion
was very pleasant. A pleasant musi
cal program was rendered by Mrs.
Baya, Kemp Malone, Miss Maude
Nightengale and others, which was
much enjoyed.

that the New Town Debating society
will grow to be the largest organize-,
tion this city has ever had.
The resolution making those eligible
for membership who live in ocher
sections of the city makes this an
assured fact.
He is After Them.
Judge Parker seems to be after the
liquor sellers of St. Simon good and
strong and it is safe to say that those
who have been selling liquor there
will discontine the unlawful practice.

George R. Charnon, of Omaha, Neb.,
has leased a good piece of land ner
this city and he will begin farming at
at an early date. This gentelmen has
great experience in this line and
it seems certain that he will make
a great success.
Will Meet Again Today.
The grand jury will meet again this
morning and it is said that some im
portant matters will come up for con
sideration. The present grand jury
has done a great deal of hard work and
the members are to he commended.
Badly Handicapped.
The News has been badly handicap
ped during the past few days on ac
count of power and the fact that an
engine had to he Installed, one of
the new kind, shows that we were In
hard shape for power hut it seems
now that the trouble is over and the
paper will he out early in future.
The work on the building of the
Masons has progressed rapidly with
in the past day or two and it is safe
to say that it will he completed in
a very short time. It will he one
of the handsomest buildings in the
county.
The members uf the Riflemen are
still taking a. great deal of interest
inn their organization, which by the
way, is growing every day.
