BRUNSWICK'S "KICKERS.”
It there is one thing dlspicable on
this earth it is the man or woman who
is continually ruining down his or
her own community. This cheap
brand ol smartness is rife in Bruns
wick ami it has been one of the strong
eat factors against our prosperity and

they are lndigenerous to every planet.
At any rate, the one on which wo "live

them to the Inevitable Injury, even
if in ouly a small degree of the welfare
of the community.
For health, climate and natural

winters are delightful, our summers
are really not very hot and our trump

A GOOD SIGN.
It is a recognized fact that the pros
perous condition of schools anil
churches is a sure sign of the pros
perity of a town. According to the
rule wo have certainly a very strong
indication that Brunswick is solidly
prosperous. Tlie financial condition of
the churches in this city is remarkably
good. These churches are not only
free from debt, but they are living and
Working institutions. Repairs and im
provements are the order of the day.
The congrogaton of the First Meth

a fund for anew church, and at
present, the parsonage is being added

Brunswick’s growth and prosperity,

that the improvements are in the right

The News yesterday, though It was
tio fault of ours, reported that the
pope was dead. This information was
received from our regular news agency
In New York, and while we only lun
a short dispatch announcing the
death we, of course, thought it was
authentic, but wired for full particulars
Before an answer was received,how
ever, the Western Union wit.-, closed
We then endeavored to reach some
out of town papers by telephone to
gft the report verified, but, a.s usual,
a long distance connection can never
lie secured when one really wants lo
use the line However, the pope was
not dead, and the News deeply regrets
Hie error , lint thinks it was no fault
of ours.

While the general opinion of thoaf
supposed to lie authorities on this mut
ter has been that the habit of drinking
water at meals Is a deleterious one, it
la now stated, according to icccnt in
vestigations. that a little water. If not
too cold. Is beneficial, as It assists tu
the digestion of food. A too copious
supply of water dilutes the gastric
Juice, and If too cold it lowers tin- tem
perature of the stomach below normal,
thus Impairing digestion If, however,
water Is taken in limited quantities. th

thereby facilitating absorption By this
means tin- undigested food is laid bare
and is more susceptible to further a

period of rest phlegm, being very tena
clous, prevents the free flow of gastric
Juice for some time, hence delays di
gestion. A drink of water before meals
le recommended because it loosens and
washes away this deposit of mucus,
thereby permitting the gastric Juice to
attack the food ns It enters the atom

Letters from
Women
Cured by the use of Kodol are received daily
Their troubles nearly all begin with indiges
tion or other stomach disorder.
If the food you eat fails to g:ve strength
to your body. It is because the juices se
creted by the stomach and digestive oigans
are inadequate to transform the nutrient prop
erties of the food into biood. That is
Indigestion. The system is deprived of the
amount of nourishment required to keep up
the strength, and the result is that one or
more of the delicate organs gradually grows
weak, and then weaker, until finally it is
diseased. Here a great mistake Is made.
That of treating the diseased organ. The
best doctors in the land make this very
mistake. Why should they V It is so easy
to see that the trouble is not there.
Kodol
Cures
This famous remedy puts the stomach and
digestive organs in a healthy condition so
ihat rich, red blood is sent coursing through
the veins and arteries of every muscle, tissue
and fiber throughout every organ of the en
tire body, and by Nature s law of health, full
strength and vigor is soon restored to each.
Kodol curc3 Indigestion, dyspepsia and ail
stomach disorders.
I have taken Kodol for nearly two months
after each meal and it is the only remedy
that gave relief (torn the terrible pains I
endured. After a time I would take it but
once a day. and now. while I keep a bottle
handy I .seldom need it, as it has cured me.

Many waiters have hands that art
more callous than a blacksmith's or
ironworker's. The callousness comes*
front carrying hot plates, coffeepot*
and the like. I'iie heat seems to fry
their skin and to make a dead surface
to keep them from being burned by
things that a man with ordinary hand,
could not stand. It may have puzzled
people who go to some restaurants tv
notice how the waiters hold things in
their hands for some time which art
too hot for the hands of the people at
the tables even to pass to one another
This is the explanation: That the wait
er's hands become callous and hard,
so that the tough skin at the surface
has no more feeling than a piece or
horn.
