Vote AGAINST "Peach County”
HARDLY- three weeks from now, on November 7, you will be per
mitted to say something upon a constitutional amendment creating
“Peach County.” That will be in the general election; not in the
Democratic state primary. Everybody votes.
You are expected to read the same old monotonous- lines for or against
Sill another county among the multitude into which old Georgia already:
ts been partitioned^and subdivided; and having read them, you are
expected to vote For” and go oh about your own affairs.
But this is ONE time you will have your eyes open. You’ve had enough.
So has everybody else. The whole state is tired of new counties.
. We hevc multiplied courthouses and officials
ftpd taz.es when every other trend is exact!'
Opposite. While business consolidates small
unite.'? into big ones, 1 to cut down overhead
and increase efficiency. ; we have allowed pol
itics to cut big units • into little ones and
pile up overhead *t the sacrifice of efficiency.
It is perfectly plain to that two
sets ;of county officials dannot divide be
tween them the work formerly done by one
and 'do it just as well of half the cost.
They do it, of course, but at TWICE the
cost 4
Let's glance at some dry-as-dust, but per
tinent facts.
Their* are.' in the whole United States,
J. 01.7 counties.
these. Texas has 258, Georgia 160.
Texas is nearly f'v* times as big as Georgia.
Of ail the states i.t the Union, Texas is
THE ONLY ONE with as many counties as
Gaargia.
The average size of counties throughout
the; land is 960 square miles.
The average size of a (Georgia county is
only 367 qquare miles.
Only three states have counties as small
as Georgia. They are Kentucky, New Jer
sey and Rhode Island.
YOU HAVE a right to know these facts; and we, whose ox happens to be gored at
the present moment, are taking the liberty of putting them before you even though
we may be desecrating the ground upon which none but the lobbyist has dared to
tread before.
We are Georgians with you. We ignore the local aspects of our fight. We aeo
its broader relation to you, to your interests—to Georgia’s welfare.
FOR YOU MAY BE MARKED NEXT FOR THE SLAUGHTER.
The New County -Lobby, which used to be the Whisky Lobby, right now hag
ready to be sprung on the next legislature—if Peach County gets by—bills to create
THREE MORE NEW COUNTIES in Georgia.

The presumption used to be, when the leg
islature submitted- a constitutional amend
ment for ratification, that you would go on
and ratify without asking questions.
That presumption is antiquated from this
moment.
Knowing the unworthy motives behind the
origin of this movement, Haiti the unworthy
methods of its progress to the present point,
we challenge this attempt to create another
uew county as the work of one of the most
pernicious lobbies that ever infested the halls
of our legislature.
In the general election of 1920, when con
stitutional amendments Creating FIVE new,
counties were submitted far ratification, 138?- ''
000 votes were cqst for the candidates and
77,000 of tha>i number were expressed one
way or the other on the matter of the five
new counties.
Sixty-one thousand voters who were at the
polls, and had the ballots in their hands said
neither yea nor nay about the five new
counties.
Had these 61,000 voted NAY, instead of
merely signifying their disapproval by silence,
NOT A SINGLE NEW COUNTY WOULD
HAVE GOT BY.

WHY THEY PARTED
“I was dow n with pain i n my right
side which at times almost crazed me.
Most all of the doctors said opera

any since. Mayr’s Wonderufl Remedy
has the right name—gas, sour stom

ABLE SERMONS lit
REVIVALSERVICES
(Continued From Page One)
M’KENDREE METHODIST
The attendance ui the revival serv
ices at McKendrep .Methodist church
continue good. At the service last
night the pastor, Rev. L. C. Gray, de
livered a message on ‘-Sin.’' His text
was found in Psalm, thirty-eight: “I
am ready to halt, and my sorrow is
-continually Jbefcre me. Fpr l will
declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry
for my sin.” His mesage was a ter
rible warning to the sinners of this
city. He said that they had better
make this tex theirs for three reasons:
Fir )t, because sin sjeperates them
from God; second, because sin brings
.sorrow; third, because sin brings
fleath, eternal death. There were
many that were moved to confess
Christ as their Savior and Lord. There
is a great evidence of deeo convinc
tion and many hopeful sign.-, of a far
reaching revival at this church. Ser
vices will be hald daily at 10:30 a.m.
and 7:30 p. m. The public is cordi
ally invited 1 , to attend.
AT THE FIRST BAPTIST
t; According to John, Christ said “And
L if 1 he lifted up from the earth, will
dra* all men unto me,” and from this
text Dr. Roberts preached one of the
mos logical], convincing and appealing
sermons' ever heard in the First Bap
tist church. He was given apt at
tention by lie audience as he inter
perted the main text and the many
illuminating contents In the scrip
tures. He spoke of the exaltation and
glory of the Christ crowned by the
Father “Lord of Lords and King of
Kings,” and of His power to draw
men and women who have that spirit
ual awakening that will enable them
to take hold of the divine. He liken
ed Jesus to the magnet with power to
magnetize all who believe in and ac
cept Him as Savior, and these in
turn by their Christlike qualities at
tract others to him, thus "drawing
men unto Him.” He again illustrat
ed this power by th e magnetic needle
and the compass, the latter always
pointing to the former regradless of
position or distance, saying that no
infinite mind had ever been able to
comprehend this one of the greatest
mysteries in the material world, and
yet some men will say that they can
not accept Christ and His teachings
because they cannot understand the
mystery of his personally, his birth,
his resurrection and His divine and
miraculous power. .Yet if they, will
carefully and impartially observe His
devoted followers they will perceive
that these dec-iples nave been “magne
tized’ by His power. There i some
thing about a tm *. loyal Christian
that distinguished him from the non
believer, and tlie evidences are
mistakable, and yet such a man has
true humjlty and dees not "behave
himself unseemly."
Dr. Roberts concluded with a graph
ic picture of the great reunion of the
redeemed around the great white
throne. He illustrated the joy of this
occasion by recounting the scene at
the reunion of Stonewall Ja'ksons
famous brigade in Richmond when
Jm-kson’s battle flag was unfurled
and the halteluliahs of his devoted
followers resounded, and they wept
for joy in the memory of their marvel
ous leader who has dang since crossed
the border to enjoy his heritage in
the bright beyond. •
