GLYNN HIGH WINS;
FROM WAYCROSS
BY SCORE 13 TO 6
MILLER AND ARNOLD SCORED
TOUCHDOWNS IN THE EX
CITING GAME.
By T. A. Scott.
The Glynn Acdaemy won their first
victory yesterday by defeating Way
cross High at Waycross by a score of
thirteen to six. With the sting of de
feat at the hands of Waycross a few
weeks ago fresh on their memory, the
Mighty Glynn journeyed to the Ware
capital determined to beat Waycross,
it was their only thought and only de
sire, and when the final whistle blew
the boys from Glynn had redeemed
themselves. V
Three minutes after the game had
Started, Connie Miller raced eighteen
yards for Glynn’s first touchdown
Krauss kicked goal for the extra
point. Glynn’s second tally came in
the second period when Harry Arnold
sprinted around right end thirty-five
yard to the goal line, Krauss failed to
kick goal. Waycross scored tfceir only
touchdown in the second quarter and
failed to kick goal.
Connie Miller must have eaten a
quantity of dynamite and T. N. T. be
fore the game, when he hit the Way
cross line, they shattered like an egg
shell, his every attempt resulted ir
gains. As many as three opposing
players tried to stop Connie at numer
ous times, but were carried forward
as in a hurricane.
Harry Arnold made several bril
liant runs and his work is to be com
mended.
Waycross, failing to gain through
Glynn’s line composed of Harold Lev
ison, Wadsworth Aiken, Kirkland, and
Knight, tried end runs but they were
downed by Fred Murdaugh and Rob
ert Levison before they got started
These two end men proved Jike £
stone wall.
Jones and Krauss, in the backfield
made several nice gains and ran com
plete interference.
The Waycross boys played a good
game, but were outgeneraled bj
Glynn.
Coach Gibson announced last nigh'
that arrangements had been complet
ed for a game here next Saturday
with the strong Blackshear Higi
team. Blackshear recently playec
iWaycross off their feet, but due tp ?
bit of hard luck, Waycross lucked out
a win by a score of thirteen to six.
It is believed that Blackshear and
Brunswick are pretty well matched,
especially in weight, and the fans are
assured of a hotly contested game.
