FAMOUS PLAY “GRUMPY,’
FINELY SCREENED BY
WILLIAM DE MILLE
,__
That delightful and popular stage:
play, 'Grumpy”, familiar to the thea
tre going world, has ben brought to
the screen and with such a cast as
even the most optimistic admirers
of the famous drama desired but
hardly expected. William de Mille was
the producer.
The character of Grumpy is played
by Theodore Roberts, whose “Uncle
Josh” in 'The Old Homestead”
stands as one of the greatest char¬
acters ever established in the screen
world, in "Grumpy"’ which will be
the feature at the Bijou Theatre tor ;
2 days, beginning Monday uevt, Mr.
■Roberts has a character none the
less powerful—if anything even
more adaptable to his acting ability
The story of "Grumpy” deals with
the love affairs of a young couple
fostered by Grumpy, an irascible
though loveable retired criminal law¬
yer. A valuable diamond is stolen,
and its recovery is wholly due to the
discovery of the identity of the rob¬
ber by means of a gardenia, of which
one each was worn by three of the
leading characters. How Grumpy
gets his clew and runs it down
makes one of the most suspenseful
picture stories ever erected.
Guy Wilky was chosen as camera¬
man. Clara Beranger adapted the
screen version from the stage play.
Grumpy”, by Horace Hodges and T
Wigney Percyval.

Take Salts to Get Rid of
Toxic Acid.
Aseumatism is no respecter of age,
color or rank. If not the most
ungerous of human afflictions it is one
of the most painful. Those subject to
rheumatism should eat no sweets for
awhile, dress as warmly as possible, I 1
avoid any undue exposure and above
all, drink lots of pure water.
Rheumatism is caused by uric acid . |
or body waste matter, and is often gen- ,f [
erated in the bowels and absorbed into
the blood. It is the function of the j
kidneys to filter this poison from the j
blood and cast it out in the urine; the
pores of the skin are also a mfans j
of freeing the blood of this impurity, j
In damp and chilly, cold weather the j
skin pores are closed thus forcing the |
kidneys to do double work; they become I
weak and sluggish and fail to elimi- j
nate this toxic acid, which keeps ac- I
cumulating and circulating through the !
system,‘eventually causing settling stiffness, in the joints j
and muscles, soreness
and pain, called rheumatism.
At the first twinge of rheumatism get j
from any pharmacy about four ounces ■
of Jad Salts; put a tablespoonful in a
glass of water and drink before break- j
fast each morning for a week. Thin

matic poisons. •
Jad Salts is inexpensive, _ and is made I

with excellent results by thousands or !
