CHARACTER FOUND IN EYES
| Color Shows Make-Up of Average
| Person, According to Close Ob
server of Human Nature.
According to a close observer of
| human nature:
Black (dark brown) eyes are a sign |
of passionate ardor in love. 3 %
Dark blue, or violet, denote great |
affection and purity, but not much in
tellectuality,
Clear, light blue, with calm, stead-|
fast glance, denote cheerfulness, goodl
temper, constancy.
Pale blue, or steel colored, with
shifting motlon of eyelids and pupils,
denote deceitfulness and selfishness.
Russget brown without yellow de’
note an affectionate disposition,
sweet and gentle. The darker thel
brown the more ardent the passion. i
Blue, with greenish tints, are not
80 strongly Indicative of these traits,
but a slight propensity to greenish
tints in eyes of any color is a sign of
| wisdom and courage.
Gray, or greenish gray, with orange
and blue shades and ever varying
tints, are the most intellectual, and
are indicative of the impulsive, im
pressionabls temperament—the mix-g
ture of the sanguine and bmoua,l
which produces poetic and artistic na- g
tures, « (
Light brown or yellow denote m-f
constancy; green, deceit or coquetry. |
Eyes of no particular color (only
some feeble shades of blue or gray,i
dull, expressionless, dead looking) b&l
long to the lymphatie temperament, |
and denote a listless, feeble disposi- |
tion and a cold, selfish nature. |

OPTICAL ILLUSION IS NOVEL%
Good Demonstration of Fact That Eye |
Cannot Be Depended on Always |
to Tell the Truth. }
g i
As we have seen in many cases, |
you can't depend on your eyes to tell i
the truth altogether. The eye is sim- |
ply a camera made by nature and
like the cameras made by man it has '
its optical defects. This Is owing to |
the fact that it is intended as an all- |
round Instrument, for every possible |
purpose, says the Pathfinder. The,
leye lens is “corrected for rectilinear :

] the lens-makers would say, but not for |
“spherical aberration” and some oth- |
er defects. So when it is used for
certain purposes these defects show
up, just as they do in an ordinary
camera lens, l
For example, if you look at the fig
ure here presented you would be
willing to swear that the heavy hori
zontal lines are not parallel. But they !
are, as you can satisfy yourself by |
measuring. It Is the oblique cross
lines that produce this deception.

Millinery Department
I have opened a millinery department in :
connection with my line of General
Merchandise. Owing to the sickness of
my trimmer I could not get in shape to
.give a formal opening before Easter,
but my doors are now open to the public
- and I will appreciate your patronage.
Miss Myrta Clements will look after
this branch of my business and I feel
sure you will be pleased with her work.
A good many of my customers alrcady
\ know the class of work that she turns
out and I hope it wi/l not be long before
many more will know by experience.
We are also prepared to make dresses.
