Building Boom Strikes
Alamo People Again.
Mr. G. A. Garnett of Reidsville, is
is here this week. He is here figuring
with a number of property owners on
moving out some wooden buliding, pre
paratory to erecting brick buildings in
their stead. Mr. J. R. Swain will have
erected on his lot a nice brick business
house. Mr. John W. elements will
have a nice brice business house built
on the lot occupied by Mr, S.I. Bullard.
The lot adjoining Mr. Clements is
owned by Mr D L. Graham, but we
understand there are two parties figur
ing on buying it, either one of whoni
intend |putting a business house on the
lot at once Mr. Idelson will probably
replace his wooden houses with brick
ones during the year. This will give
us four more brick business houses in
Alamo, to say nothing of the others
who will build, but have not fully de
decided.
Mayor’s court will be in session next
Monday morning.
ROME MAN MISSING;
FOUL PLAY FEARED.
Walter Cox Sold Cotton, Cashed His Check
and Then Disappeared.

Rome, Ga., September 23—The mys
terious disappearance of Walter Cox,
well known farmer, was reported to
the police this morning. Cox sold
several bales of cotton Tuesday, cashed
the check, obtained about S3OO in cash,
and has not been seen since. Friends
anc family fear foul play.

rior court at Mount Vernon this
week of involuntary manslaught
er and sentenced to three years
in the penitentiary- A motion
was made for a new trial.

The day comes on Saturday and the oc
casion is expected to eclipse anything'

I some of the most famous'the country ;

' sures us that every thing will be done |
to make this occasion the best of its ]
kind ever held.
Refreshments will be served and

Horse swappers will be the center of
attraction and many traders will ex
change their horses several times ।

horse to trade or that can get one on
that day, is requested to be on hand on J
the morning of Saturday,October the

The committee is very much enthused
over the approaching occasion, and ask
that everybody get ready for the day.
Many of our people have never attend
ed a gathering of this kind and will
take advantage of this occasion to see
what is really done at a horse swap
