To The Union Pa ty of Macon 0•. There will be a meeting of the parly at Lanier on the first Tuesday in Au gust next, to nominate a candidate for Iklte Representative Branch of the Legis- Tlie'Macgn County Union Assot in ion will aisolnyet the same day. RULES Tte following role we eommeud to M our patrons and friends for their excel;, lenre and practical utility. They are worthy of being printed in letters of gold and being placed in a conspicuous posi tion in every household 1 7t is lamenta ble to contemplate the mischief misery and ruin Which are the legitimate fruits of those deficiencies which are pointed out in the rules to which we have refered. Let every parent and guardien read, pon der and inwardly’digested. 1. From your children’s earliest infancy inculcate the necessity of instant obedi ence. 2. Unite firmness with gentleness. Let your children always understand that you mean exa< tly What you say. 3. Never promise anything unless you are quite sure yeu can give them what you promise. 4. If you tell a little child to do some thing, show him how to do it and see that it is done. 5. Always punish your children for will fully disobeying you, but never punish them in anger. 6 Never let them perceive that they can vex you, or make you lose your self command. 7 1( they give way to petulance and temper wait till they are calm and then gentlv reason with them on the improprie ty of their conduct. 8 Retnembpr that a little prsent pun* ishmeni alien the occasion arises, ismuch more effect nal’ than the threatening of a greater punishment should the fault be re newed. 9. Never give vonr children anything because they cry for it. 10. On no account allow .hem to do at one time what yon have forbidden, under the like circumstances, another. 11. Teach them that the only sure and easy wav to appear good is to be good. 12. Accustom them to make their little recitals with pet feet truth. “13. Never allow t ile hearing. 14. Teach them that self dental, not self indulgence is the appointed, anti the sure method of securing happiness. I 5. Guard them against the indulgence ofan angry and a resentful spirit. If these rules were rednsed hi practice, daily practice, by parents and guardians, Itmv much misery would he prevented how many in danger of ruin would he saved* and how largely would the hap piness of a thousand domestic circles be augmented ! /t is lamentable to see Itow extensive is parental neglect, and to wit ness the bad anti dreadful consequences in the ruin of thousands ! Body and Mind.— E> erv man ongH to provide convenient food and raiment for bis body; this nmst bp the first object of Itis care; but the end in view should be, to make his body a fit instrument for the operations of bis mind.— Every man ! ought also to provide necessaries for his mind, to wit, nil such things as ntav tend to advance it in inte|igence and judgment; but the end hvvies should be, *'-* he may be in a state laserve his fellow-riii. xens, his country,gL ( -horeh, and thus the Lord. Providence. —lt ij|| ;iw n f Divine Prov idence that ma'iijM,|,| n( . t f rom freedom It is law of Divine providence that man should, as of him self, remove evils as sins in the external man, and that thus and not otherwise the Lord can remove evils in the internal man, and then at the same time in the compelled by external means thinking and willing, thus to believing and loving, the ihingslwhich are of religion, hot that man should lead, and sometime* compel, himself, It is a law of Diviq* Provi dence that man should not mprieve am fee! anything concerning “flu* operations of Divine PrnviHpnC|<nHt that h* should still knot* and it; also that the Pivine Prprfaence looks- to Sternal \ things, and no otherwise to things tein poral than as far as they agree with the eternal. --V onm\A!\crs.
