SICKLY AND CNIIAPBY WIVES. Extrcct of a Letter from a (JtnUeman in Dayton, O. •'Daitok, May 1, 18-17. * Dr. A. M. MacriciaL— My Dear Sir: ‘The Married Woman's Private Medical Companion, for which I enclosed one dollar to your address, came safety to hand. I would not have troubled you with these few lines, bot that 1 am impelled by a sense of gratitude, for myself and wife, to give utterance to oar sincere and heartfelt emotions. “My wife has been perceptibly sinking for some three years or more, in consequence of her great an guish and suffering some months before and during confinement; every succeaaive one more and more debilitated and prostrated her, putting her life m lm mlncnt danger, and which waa.on the last oeoomon, despaired of. I supposed that this Mato ot things was inevitable, siul resigned myself to meet the worst. At tilts time (now about two months) I heard your book highly spoken of. as containing some matters reaching my case. On its receipt and perusal, I can uot express to you the relief it afforded my distressed mind and the Joy it. page* imparted to my wife, on learning that the great discovery of M. M. Ueso meaux provided a remedy. It opened a prospect to ma which I little conceived was possible. No pecu niary consideration can over repay the obligations I am under to you for having been the means of im parting to u* th© matters contained in ‘ 1 he Mamed Woman’* Private Medical Companion. But for tfaif, ere another year would have passed over mv head, in sil human probability my wife would have been in her grave, and my children left motherleae. Extract from a Letter . Competence and Health* ‘‘Lancaster, Pa., Oct. 2-4, 1847. “Mr Dear Bir: I know yon will have the kind ness to bear with me in encroaching upon your time, while I acknowledge (in behalf of myself and wife) tbe obligation* we feel ourselves under to yon in hav ing made known certain matters, contained in your moat invaluable * Married Woman’s Private Medical Companion.’ It has been worth its weight in gold to me. If I express myself rather warmly, you will see that I can not do so too warmly, when I inform ▼on of the extent to which I have, through it, been benefited. I will state my situation when I obtained yonr book through the merest cariosity 1 look upon It as one of tbe most fortunate events of try life. I had been married some ten years, and was the father of seven children. I was long straggling unceasingly, to the end that I might gain a moderate competency, but the results of my utmost exertions at the end left me about where I was at the beginning of each year; and that only, w ith the most stinted economy, suffi cing with hardy the necessaries of life. Finally, this constant effort was beginning to have its effect upon my health : I felt leas capable to endnre its continu ance, while I felt the necessity of pernevernnee. “ This constant, unceasing struggle on my part u as imperative, in consequence of the prostrated condi tion cf my wife (with occasional intermission) tor six years, much of the time eonfinod to her bed, and of course incapable of taking the charge and manage ment of household affairs. Her condition arose from causes of which I was ignorant. Oh! what would I have given had I the six years to live over again ! What would my wife have given to have boon spared the loug day s and still longer nights nrotrate on a bed of sickness! all of which would have been avoided, had I then seen a copy of ‘The Married Woman's Private Medical Companion.’” From a Physician. DANGEROUS DELIVERIES, OBSTRUCTIONS, IRREGULARITIES, &C How many are suffering from obstruction or irreg ularities peculiar to the female system, which un dermine their health, the effects of which they are ignorant, and for which their delicacy forbids seeking medical advice! How many Buffer from prolapmt* uteri (falling of the womb), or from Jtuor-albus (weak ness, debility, &c., Ac)! How many are in constant agony for many months preceding confinement! How many have difficult if uot dangerous deliveries, and whose lives are jeoparded during such time, will find lu its pages the means of proveutiun, amelioration, and relief! Extract from a Letter. To those just Married.—” Dad I known}’’ ” Philadelphia. Nov. 89,1847. “Dr. A. M. Mauriciau : Had I known of the in nntaat matters treated of in ‘Tbe Married Woman's Private Medical Companion’ some years ago, how much misery I might have escaped I I have suffered years from causes which you point out in your book, without knowing what to do. I obtained a copy, and found my ease treated of. I trust overy female will avail herself of tbe information contained in its pages.” Letters one daily received of this character, tune eessary to preaent. To those yet unmarried, but contemplating mar riage, or perhaps hesitating os to the propriety of Incurring the responsibilities attendant upon it, the importance of being possessed of the revelations con tained In three pages, so intimately involving their fatnre happiness, esn not be appreciated. It is, at conrac, impracticable to convey more fully the various subjects treated of, as they are of a na ture strictly intended for the married, or thoao con templating marriage; neither ia it ncocaaarv, since It ia every ono'a duty to become posaoaaed of knowl edge whoreby the coffering* to which s wife, a moth er, or a sitter, may be euhject, con bo obviated.
