To The Afflicted.
THE undersigned having permanently
located 5 miles North-West of Pond
Town in Sumter County, would tespectfully
offer his professional services to the Afflicted.
The invariable success which has attended
his ptevious administrations,in curing the
worst forms of chronic diseases, and such
too, as have baffled the skill of the most
Scientific Physicians, he trusts will be suf
ficient to guarrantee for future results;
Refers to undoubted Testimony.
A remarkable case of Rheumatism and
Fits cured in 3 weeks;
Ball Hill Muscogee Cos. Jan 25, 1342 .
Mr: Editor: Sir permit me to commu
nicate to the Afflicted thiough the columns
of your valuable paper the following facts.
About three months ago my Son Shepherd
aged 22 years was attacked with acute
Rheumatism in both of his knees which was
so severe that it soon effected his whole sys
tem, and seemed to locate principally, on his
Brain Lungs and heart. The 4th day after
he was attacked he commenced having hard
Fits. I immediately called in an eminent
Physician, who treated his case three weeks.
But without benefit, I then called in two
more Physicians of the same order (Old
School) one of wlism treated his case two
weeks, still he grew worse, and had from
two to three tits realy every night. The
Doctors’said that his condition was strange
and cutical, and they seemed to be at a loss
to know whai to do for him, as the remedies
they prescribed, had no effect towards teliev,.
ing him. And all who saw my Son thought
that he would be certain to die. But just
as 1 was about to relax all efforts of having
anything more done for him, some person
sent rafe one of Dr. Rowland’s Circulars, 1
exantinedm and saw that the certificates
were from reliable sources ; and 1 resolved
to haul Shepherd to Dr. R. When we ar
lived at the Doctor’s he was just alive and
it was all that could be said, tor he was re
duced so much that he could be compared to
nothing but a living skeleton to use the
phrase, and at all times lie suffered with the
most violent excruciating pains, his mind was
very much effected also. The second day
alter Dr. 11. Commenced treating his case,
he sloped having fils, and the fifth day his
pains subsided in a great degree, I then
left him under cate of Dr, R. and returned
home, related to my neighbors the extraor
dinary relief uiv Son experienced in so short
a time, many seemed to (foubt, and all were
perfectly astonished. U* remained at the
Doctors 3 weeks, and it swords me pleasure
to say that I believe he ha* effected a perma
nent cure, as Shepherd ha* had nu symptoms
of a relapse in any way for several weeks’
It is my wish that the above statement be
published so that others laboring under such
and similiai discuses may be benefited also.
Yours &.c. ELIJAH PADGETT.
We the undersigned neiglibots to Elijah
Padgett ceitify that his statements relative
to the miraculous cure effected on his Soil
Shepherd are correct.

MARION, TWIGGS COUNTY, <IA. JANUARY, 1851<
Dr. Rowland, Sir: 1 present you the
following cei ulicate which 1 hope you will
have published, so that others laboring un
der such diseases may be beuefitted also.
About two years ago, one of my servants
(Henry), was severely attacked with spit
ting and vomiting of blood, attended with
hard fits which lie had paroxysms of weekly.
1 immediately placed him under the treat
ment of the most eminent Physicians ot the
old school in this section and after treating
Ins case a long time, they said lie could not
be cured, and was beyond the reach of med
icine. Heniy grew worse and had from one
to two hard fits a week, gpit and vomited
up large quantities of blood. As 1 consider
ed his case perfectly hopeless for a time, I
had nothing done for him. Hearing that
you would take patients afflicted with chronic
diseases on conditions, 1 resolved to give
you a trial, and to the astonishment of my
self and u$RRy others, in three weeks after
1 placed Henry under your treatment, he re
turned home entirely cured of his disti easing
diseases; he has been well 3 months and
can do as mach bard laborious work as lie
ever could. When 1 sent Henry to you, 1
would have taken a mere trifle for him, now
1 consider that he is worth (Q(10. Persons
afflicted with such or similar diseases, would
do well to give you a trial.
Yours &c., WM. FAULK.

certificate from a highly rcsjtecuthle source, of a cure
made by using tlieirpreparattoimf Sarsaparilla :
Bew Tons, Feb. 17,1849.
Afessrs. Sands Having suffered many years w ith
a disease of my throat, alfecting the larynx, during which
lime I was treated by tlte most distinguished physician*
Europe and tlte United Slates, without receiving any
permanent benefit, but all die time my general health
and strength declining, and the disease making fearful
progress : caustic applications were used, and whatever
else was thought most efficient for producing a cure ;
but lam confident the deplorable situation 1 was in, the
laryngitis being accom|ianied with phllusis and great
difficulty in breathing, would soun have terminated my
life, had 1 not obtained relief through the medium of
your invaluable sursa|tnrilla. 1 must sav gentlemen,
when I commenced u(ng the Sarsaparilla I did not
place much confidence in ft* virtues; and this will not
surprise you, when you are informed 1 had tried more
limit fifty different remedies during the past four years,
without any success; tint after taking yot.r Sarsa|rilla
a few weeks. 1 was obliged at last to yield to evidence.
This marvellous specific lias not only relieved hilt cured
me; and I therefore think it myduty, geutlAiion, for
the benefit of suffering humanity, to give you this attes
tation of my cure. Y-ours, very truly,
D. Parent.
