Houghton's PEPSIN, the true Digestive Fluid, or Gastric Juice, prepared from RENNET, or the fourth Stomach of the Ox, after directions vj Baron Liebig, the great Physiological Chemist by J. S. Ilovghion, M. D. Philadelphia. This is truly a wondrful remedy for Indigestion, dys pepsia, jaundice, liver complaint, constipation, and de bility, curing after nature’s own method, by natures own agent, the (Gastric Juice. 50“ Half a teaspoonful of Pepsin, infused-in water, will digest or dissolve five ponds of roast beef in about two hours, out of tile stomach. jf'epsin is the chief element or great digestive princi ple of the Gastric juice—the solvent or the food, the purifying, preserving, and stimulating agent of the stom ach and intestines. If is extracted from the digestive stomach of the Ox. thus forming an artificial digestive fluid, precisely like the natural gastie juice in its chemi cal powers, and furnishing a complete and perfect substi tute for iL Uy the aid of this preparation the pains and evils of indigestion and dyspepsia are removed, just as they would he by a healthy stomach. It is doing wonders for dyspeptics, curing cases of debility, emaciation, ner vous decline and dyspeptic consumption, supposed to be on the verge of the grave. The scientific upon which it is based, is in the. highest degree curious and remarkable. SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE. Baron Liebig, in his celebrated work on animal Chem istry, suy.*: ‘An artificial digestive fluid analogous to the gaslic juice, may be readily prepared from the mucous membrane of the stomach of the calf in which various ar ticles of food, as meat and eggs will be softened, changed and digested, just in the some manner as they would he in the human stomach.* DCr Call cm the agent, and get a descriptive circular, gratis. gT\ ing a large amonntof scientific evidence, sim ilar to the above, together with reports of remarkable cures, from all parts of the I’nited States. AS A DYSPESPIA CURER Dr. Ilughtun's Pepsin has produced the most marvellous effects, m curing cases of debility, emaciation, nervous decline, and dyspeptic consumption. It is impossible to give the details of coses in the limits of this advertise ment; but aniTientioated circumstances have been given of more than two hundred remarkable cures, in Philadel phia, Mew York and Boston alone. These were near ly ail desperate cases, and the cures were not only rapid and wonderful, but permanent. It is a great nervous antidote, and particularly useful for tendency to jilliou disorder, liver complaint, lever and ague or-badly treated fever and ague, and the evil effects of quinine, men tiry and other drugs upon the di gestive Organs, after a long sickness. Also, for excess in eating, and the-too free use of ardent spirits. It almost reconciles health with intemperance. l)r. I lough Pus Pepsin is prepared in powderand in fluid rom—and in perscription vials for the use of Physicians. Private cireularsilbr the use of Physicians, may be obtained of Dr. Jfougluou wr his Agents, describing the. \\ hole process of preparation, and giving the authori ties upon which the claimes of tiiis new remedy are bas ed. A remarkable case of Rheumatism and Fits cured in 3 weeks; Ball Hill Muscogee Cos. Jan 25, 1852. Mr: Editor: Sir permit me to commu nicate to the Afflicted through the columns of your valuable paper the following facts.. About three months ago my Son Shepherd aged 22 years was attacked with acute Rheumatism in both of his knees which was so severe that it soon effected his whole sys-’ tern, and seemed to locate principally, on his Brain Lungs and heart. The 4th day aftef he was attacked he commenced having hard Fits. I immediately called in an eminent Physician, who treated his case three weeks. But without benefit, I then called in two more Physicians of the same order (Old School) one of whom treated his ease two weeks, still he grew worse, and had from two to three fits nearly every night. The Doctors said that his condition was strange and cutical, and tliey seemed to be at a loss to know tvhai to do for him, ns the remedies they prescribed, had no effect towards ing him. And all who saw mv Son thought that he would be certain to die. But just as I was about to relax all efforts of having anything more done for him, some person sent ms one of Dr. Rowland’s Circulars, 1 examined it and saw that tlte certificates were from reliable sources ; and I resolved to haul Shepherd to Dr. R. When we ar rived at the Doctor’s lie was just alive and it was all that could be said, for he was re-’ duced so much that lie could be compared to nothing but a living skeleton to use the phrase, and at all times lie suffered with the most violent excruciating pains, hie mind was very much effected also. Tlte second day after Dr. R. Commenced treating his ease, he sloped having fits, and the frfil dav hits pains subsided in a great degree, | them left him under cate of Dr. 11. and returned home, related to my neighbors the extraor dinary relief mv B<m experienced in so short a time, many seemed to doubt, and all were perfectly astonished. He remained at the- Doctors 3 weeks, and it aftotds me pleasure to say that I believe he has effected a perma nent cure, as Shepherd has had no £ymplom of a relapse in any way for several weeks- It is my wish that the above statement'bo published so that others tailoring under sucl and similiai diseases may be benefited also Yours &r. ELIJAH PADGETT. We the undersigned neiglibms to Elijah Padgett certify that bis statements relative to the miraculous cure effected on Iris Soo Shepherd are correct. PERRY RADNEY. E. R SPURGIS. J.Q.
