Physiological Chmiist
by J. S. Houghton, M. D- Philadelphia.
‘Phis is truly a wondrfal remedy for Indigestion, dys
pepsia, jaundice, liver complaint constipation, and de
bility, curing alter nature’s own method, by natures own
agent, the Gastric Juice. $£T Half a teaspoonful of
Pepsin, infuscibin water, will digester dissolve five pouds
of roast beef in about two la.urs, out of the stomach.
i\*psin is the chief element or great digestive princi
ple of the Gastric juice—the solvent ol tue food, the
purifying, preserving, and stimulating agent of the stom
ach and intestines. *t is extracted from the digestive
stomach of the Ox. thus forming an artificial digestive
fluid, precisely like the natural gastic juice in its chemi
cal powers, and furnishing a complete and perfect substi
tute for it. By the uid of this preparation the pains and
evils of indigestion and dyspepsia are removed, just as
they would be by a healthy stomach. It is doing wonders
for dyspeptics, curing cases of debility, emnciauon, ner
vous decline and dyspeptic consumption, suppwed to be
on the verge of the grave. The scientific upon which il is
based, is in the highest degree curious ami remarkable.
SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE.
Barori Liebig, in his celebrated work on animal Chem
istry, cays: ‘An artificial digestive fluid analogous to the
gastic juice, may be readily prepared from the mucous
membrane of the stomach of the calf in which various ar
ticles of food, as meat and eggs will be softened, changed
and digested, just in the some manner as they would be
in the human stomach.’
J£r Call on the agent, and get a descriptive circular,
gratis, giving a large ainouni of scientific evidence, sim
ilar to the above, together with reports of remarkable
cures, from all parts of the United States.
AS A DYSPESPIA CURER
Dr. Ilugliton's Pepsin has produced the most marvellous
effects, in curing cases of debility, emaciation, nervous
decline, and dyspeptic consumption. It is impossible to
give the details of cases in the limits of this ad verthe
meni; hut authenticated ciieunHaoces have been given
of more Ilian two hundred remarkable cures, in i’liifadel
thia, New \ ork and Boston alone. These were near
ly all desperate • ases. and the cures were not only rapid
and wonderful, hut permanent.
It is a great nervous antidote, and particularly useful
for tendency to Billions disorder, liver complaint,
and ague or jbudly treated fever and ague, and the e'il
effects of quinine, men ury and other chugs upon tlie di
gestive organs, after a long sickness. Alsu, for excess in
eating and the too free use of ardent spirits. It almos
reconriles hea’th with intemperance.
Dr. Houghton's Pepsin is prepared in pa xderand in fuid
rou —at ci in tre nipt i<n vials lor the use al Fhysicians.
Private circulars for the use of i’liysicians, may he
obtained of Dr. Houghton or his Agents, describing

About three months ago my Son Shepherd

Rheumatism in both of bis knees which was
so sevete that it soon effected his whole sys

Brant Lungs and heart. The 4th day after
be was attacked lie commenced having hard
Fits. 1 immediately called in an eminent
Physician, who treated iris case three weeks.
But without benefit, 1 then called in two
more Physicians of the same order (Old
School) one of whom treated his case two
weeks, still he grew worse, and had from
two to three tits nearly every night. The
Doctors said that his condition was strange
and cutical, and they scented to be at a loss
to know .what to do for him, os the remedies
they prescribed, bad no effect towards lEliev.

that be would be certain to die. But just
as 1 ‘was about to relax all efforts of having
anything more done for him, some person

About two years ago, one of mv servant*

I imn ediati ly placed liim under the treats
incut of the most eminent Physicians ot the
old school in this section and after treating
bis case a long time, they said be could not
be cured, and was beyond the reach of med
icine. Ilemy grew worse and had from one
to two hard Ins a week. Spit and vomited
up large quantities of blond. As l consider
ed his case perfectly hopeless for a time, l
had nothing done for him. Hearing that
you would lake patients a (Hie ted with chronic
diseases on conditions, I resolved to give
you a trial, and to the astonishment of my
self and many others, in three weeks after
I placed Ilemy under your treatment, here
turned home entirely cured of his distt casing
diseases ; he lias been well 3 months and
can do as much bard laborious work as he
ever could. When I sent Henry to you, I
would have taken a mere trifle for him, now
! consider that he is worth S9OO. Persons
afflicted with such or similar diseases, would
do well to give voua trial.
