Mysterious Murders.
Birmingham, Ala., 21ifc, icst.—At
Tuscaloosa, fifty- six miles eantli ol

Hill, colored, was found near a negro

Boston, Mass., 21it, inst.—George
Cowley and Howard Wheeler, two
Last Boston yonng men, have recently
been paying attentions to the same
yonng woman. She has divided her
affection* so an to allow ne of her
lovers to accompany her one day and
the other on tha next. Although it
waa pleasant for the young inamorata
the young men themselves began to
show jealous feelings. Cowley had
her out for a promenade last evening,
when Wheeler met them oa the street.
He rnshed np and aeonaed his arrival
of “cutting him eut on the quiet.'
The latter replied: “I’re got her and
what are yon going to do about it?”
A large crowd of spectators gathered,
and the indications were that a lively
altercation was to take place. Each
principal was surrounded by his com
panionn and fiisnds, soma urging one
method of fight and others another.
The two pulled off their coata to haTe
a fight in Maverick square, bnt were
prevented. The young woman, when
appoalod to, declared she did not know
which sho loved the best. A most

said to the girl, “Ho you love me?”
and she answered “Yes.” Wheeler at
this shouted angrily, “Don’t von love

The young men then agreed to settle
tha trouble by going to a vacant lot
and lighting it out, the girl consenting
to accept the victor. The polios,how
ever, pat a stop to this and the party
ropaired to a well known club room.

assembly, and for minor municipal of
ficers.

A. Culler has reoeirsd a verdict ol
$5,500 damages against Hathaaiel Ham
lin, owner of the house occupied by
